Chapter 200: Chapter 200: Misconduct

Wan Chu’er found a spot at the back of the classroom.

When the students saw Yan Hui walking up to the podium, their attention was immediately captivated. First, there was a few seconds of silence, and then an excited buzz of noise erupted.

"Wow, this teacher is so easy on the eyes; my gaze is glued to him and can’t shift away."

"I finally understand what ’a peerless gentleman, a jade among men’ means; from now on, he’s the man of my dreams."

"I wonder if this handsome guy has a girlfriend. I want to confess to him."

...

One after another, the girls in the classroom gazed with sparkling eyes, foregoing their usual reserved demeanor as top scholars of the first university, eagerly expressing their infatuation with Yan Hui.

Wan Chu’er listened to these comments with amusement, thinking to herself that once he started speaking, they would go even crazier.

"Hello, everyone, I am Yan Hui. I’ll be teaching this World Economy class for this semester," Yan Hui said, seemingly oblivious to the frenzy below, as he gracefully opened the lecture.

Sure enough, the moment his voice dropped, it caused an even greater wave of frenzy.

This frenzy, however, drowned out Yan Hui’s lecture. But Yan Hui wasn’t in a hurry; he just watched the crowd below with a faint smile. His gaze easily caught Wan Chu’er, who was giggling at the back row.

The classroom soon quieted down again, as everyone’s care and love for beauty intensified.

This class ended quickly with Yan Hui’s eloquent discourse.

Wan Chu’er savored Yan Hui’s voice again, reluctantly slipping out of the classroom from the back.

In high spirits, she headed towards the library. But as soon as she turned the corner of the teaching building, her path was blocked.

Her good mood vanished instantly.

Dressed in a sophisticated, high-end suit, Zheng Yun stood with a pair of thin black high heels, looking coldly at her, her eyes clearly showing undisguised disdain.

"Here’s a piece of advice for you," Zheng Yun said condescendingly, not even deigning to look Wan Chu’er in the eye.

Wan Chu’er watched her expressionlessly, indifferently replied, "I wonder what advice Miss Zheng has for me."

Zheng Yun: "Yan Hui is out of your league, and don’t dream any Cinderella daydreams. Don’t hang around Yan Hui in the future."

Wan Chu’er snorted coldly, "Miss Zheng, your math isn’t very good, that’s three sentences."

Do you really think you’re a garlic clove, giving advice?

Zheng Yun’s attitude infuriated Wan Chu’er, who snickered internally.

Naturally not one to take things lying down and quick to anger, Wan Chu’er was ready to retort bluntly in the face of Zheng Yun’s insult.

Since she had been associated with Zhong Lao Guang from a young age, Zheng Yun had not been ridiculed to her face like this for a long time, and being very proud, her face turned even darker in the moment.

"I remember telling you that I know a few people at the first university; if you continue to be ungrateful, then I’ll teach you how to be humble," she said.

Wan Chu’er scoffed, responding coolly, "Sure, as you wish. I’d like to see how much power the daughter of a nanny really has." Then she walked past her, not giving Zheng Yun another glance.

But Wan Chu’er’s words struck a nerve in Zheng Yun, her face instantly contorted, her eyes fiercely glaring at Wan Chu’er’s retreating figure, as if she wanted to spit fire to burn Wan Chu’er alive.

Taking a few deep breaths, Zheng Yun slowly regained her composure and turned to walk towards the school’s administrative building.

Although Wan Chu’er appeared strong in front of Zheng Yun, once she found a corner in the library, she began to ponder on what to do.

Why does Chuchu always run into such bad luck? Beijing really is a place teeming with all sorts of people; casually you might either offend some rich second-generation heir, or someone with a powerful background.

I have no idea how influential Zheng Yun really is, and how she might impact my studies and life at the first university.

What would I do if something serious actually happened?

I mentioned going to file a complaint to Xiao Bai before, but I’d need to see Old Sir Zhong for that. I do have full confidence in him, but Old Sir Zhong is so elusive, even Mai Qiqi said he’s hard to meet. Where can I find the elderly gentleman then?

I immediately think of Jiang Kechu. Jiang Kechu said if there’s anything, I should look for Xiao Shan and Jiang Xiaoxiao. For academic and programming issues, I might seek Xiao Shan’s help, but this matter... better not drag him into this.

As for Jiang Xiaoxiao?

I’m somewhat reluctant; it doesn’t seem like Jiang Kechu and I are quite on clear terms yet.

If it were some minor issue, maybe Jiang Xiaoxiao could decide on her own. But this involves Zheng Yun, and involves Old Sir Zhong; surely Jiang Xiaoxiao would still need to consult Father Jiang or Mr. Jiang.

I feel I’m not important enough for the Jiang Family to make a big fuss over me.

Should I call or text Jiang Kechu directly? Considering he’s out on a mission, who knows what kind, I better not risk disturbing him.

After thinking for quite a while, Chuchu can’t find any solution at the moment.

Forget it, I’ll wait until Zheng Yun actually does something to me before I decide.

Suddenly, a thought flashes through Chuchu’s mind, then she smacks her forehead, feeling silly. There’s a debtor for every claim; this whole issue started with Yan Hui, so he’s the person I should be looking for!

From Zheng Yun’s behavior, it’s obvious she took her own initiative. Plus, Zheng Yun is subordinate to Yan Hui and fears him.

It’s a bit too soon to confront Yan Hui now; better to wait until something actually happens. Then, facing him, I can really slap Zheng Yun in the face.

So Chuchu puts the matter aside and didn’t mention it to anyone.

Afterward, she busied herself with her studies and never saw Yan Hui on campus nor attended any of his lectures again.

Two weeks passed, and suddenly the counselor called her in.

Chuchu thought it was about the selection for the outstanding university student award she had mentioned earlier, but as soon as the counselor saw her, she gravely pulled her aside to a deserted location.

"Chuchu, have you offended someone?"

Chuchu was startled, immediately thinking of Zheng Yun. Could Zheng Yun really have done something? Does she have that much clout? To actually influence the first university?

Seeing Chuchu’s confusion, the counselor said worriedly: "Remember the outstanding university student selection I told you about? You were a shoo-in, but after our department submitted your files to the university, they were rejected.

And the comment they gave was: ’Lacks integrity.’ Even your scholarship for this semester is gone, the leadership above gave a heads-up, stating the scholarship should go to students who excel both academically and morally."

Having heard all this, Chuchu latched on to the words ’lacks integrity.’

Well done, Zheng Yun, you actually pinned such a label on me!

Seeing the counselor’s concern, Chuchu asked her, "Do you know Zheng Yun? I heard she graduated from our school."

Hearing her question, the counselor’s expression turned strangely awkward, and she nodded: "I was in the same class as Zheng Yun, one of the notable figures of our time."

Chuchu asked further: "Then, do you know Yan Hui? He’s another legendary figure from our school."

The counselor seemed puzzled but nodded anyway.

Chuchu then said: "Mr. Yan came back to teach at our university this semester. I met him once, had a little chat, and Zheng Yun found out. She imagined I had some designs on Mr. Yan, became jealous, and I suspect she’s behind this."
