Chapter 473: Press Conference

The next morning.

It was the day before Valentine’s Day. As usual, Rose went to her office. But today, something happened in the Wilson Tower.

The Wilson Tower building, which is usually orderly, was suddenly bustling with the presence of dozens of journalists. Many journalists were in front of the building, disturbing the workers who wanted to enter, likewise with Rose’s car.

Rose was surprised. This was the first time she saw journalists fight to get news. They camped in front of her office despite the freezing temperature.

It looks terrible. But at the same time, it’s sad seeing those journalists outside in the cold air waiting for permission to enter the building. The Wilson Tower is now being guarded by several security officers.

"Why are these journalists camping here?" Rose asks Sam who was driving the car.

"They have come to interview you, Lady Boss."

"What!? They want to interview me!? Why? Don’t talk nonsense Sam, I’m not a celebrity..." Rose was confused.

"Boss, now you are one of the celebrities in the country. Your name and photo are still making headlines this morning. In fact, I have also seen the news about you on national television when I’m getting my breakfast..."

Sam chuckled. Not long after, their car entered the basement area. In that basement, there is a private parking area and a direct elevator to the top floor, Rose’s office.

Rose silently gulped upon hearing that.

Since yesterday, she had not read the news on the internet. She spent the day at her parents’ house and returned to her house late at night. She was too tired to read the news.

"Didn’t my husband, through Starlight Investment, have a press conference yesterday? Why did they come here again?" She asks while entering the elevator, followed by Sam behind her.

"Boss, maybe they want to see you in person. The public still does not believe Boss Evan married you because there’s no photo or video evidence of the wedding ceremony. You know that, right?" Sam paused to stare at Rose.

When Sam saw her frown, he continued, "I’m not making this up, boss. However, I read some comments on social media. A-Netz still doubts it. So, perhaps because of that, reporters have been willing to gather here since early morning to see you..."

"This is really tiring, Sam..." Rose said faintly.

She didn’t like this kind of public exposure. Want to ask her to appear in front of reporters and give a press release? Dream on! She would never do that.

But...

How could she bear to see reporters crowding in front of her office in such cold weather?

The air temperature outside even reached below zero.

Now, she hesitated. Should she hold a press conference or not?

It seemed she should ask Evan’s opinion. Perhaps, he could give her some insight.

After arriving at her office, she immediately calls Evan.

"Am I interrupting you?" Rose was afraid he was in a meeting. She tried to hear the background sound on the other end, but she heard nothing. Looks like he’s in his office, too quiet.

Evan raised his hand to warn everyone in the meeting room to be quiet. He should talk to his wife first. The call is more important than the meeting this morning.

"No, dear. For you, I’m not too busy. I have plenty of time to hear your story dear... Okay, please tell me what you want to say. Did something interesting happen there?" Evan’s voice was low and soft but loud enough for everyone in the meeting room to hear.

All the Directors in the room rolled their eyes. Feeling hurt hearing the PDA moment shown by their big boss. They were all still shocked to read yesterday’s news — Big boss Evan had married Edward Spencer’s granddaughter.

Since learning the news, they are all jealous of the fate of this intelligent, handsome young man who now has a wife from a respected family. In fact, his wife was the founder of the country’s fast-growing company last year, the Wilson Group. And this made them admire Evan even more.

"Oh great. Hubby, I wanted to ask your opinion..."

"What is it, my dear!?"

Rose took a deep breath before telling him about the reporters in front of her office trying to interview her. And also about her worry about keeping them waiting in freezing temperatures.

Evan’s face turned displeased when he heard that. Before he wanted to ask Gavin to do something, he heard her continue her words.

"Hubby, should I do a press conference to answer all their questions?" Rose asked.

"No need. Let me send someone to take care of those annoying people..." How could he let his wife meet them? A pack of wolves? They may ask trash questions and stress her out. No! He will never allow that.

"But, if I stay quiet, they will continue to chase me. They simply won’t give up until I say something to them. Mmm... Hubby, I was thinking of asking Oliver and Danny to go downstairs to do the press conference..."

Rose explained her plan to Evan. And finally, Evan agreed with him.

She didn’t want this matter to drag on. She tried to quickly clear all the news about her.

But she was in no hurry. She will only disclose to A-Netz and journalists about her personal life in the next few days. After that, they wouldn’t find anything about Rose Spencer in a search engine.

They would only find news about her accomplishments in academia and business.

While Rose was still deep in thought, Oliver was already standing in front of her room. He stood there for a few minutes, waiting for her to notice him.

But even after a few minutes, she was still in a daze, not giving any attention to him.

Oliver cleared his throat before greeting her. "Hello, Boss. Did you call me?"

Rose gasped. She hesitantly stood up and walked toward Oliver to join him in the seating area.

She wanted to ask Oliver to make a press release to journalists and also talk about the man who released her photo, a member of the White Skull Gang.

Even though Evan promised to take care of this, she didn’t want to wait. She wanted to do something. At least she knew who her real enemy was.

Rose tells Oliver about her idea to do the press conference.

"Damn, boss! Why? There’s no need to do that. They’ll disperse on their own and won’t bother you anymore." Oliver is surprised by Rose’s idea.

Oliver thought Rose would no longer care about the news out there. Because the news spread on the internet was quite positive, with only a few negative articles and hate comments. But it turned out she was still bothered too.

"I know. But, if I don’t speak to those journalists now, they will appear and disturb me again. Besides, I’m sure A-Netz will still think negatively of me. Maybe it’s just a few people now, but they will become big in the future, right?"

"Yeah! I see what you mean. But I think you don’t have to do this. I can handle them all. I’ll tell them to back off..." Oliver was still trying to convince her, but in the end, he still couldn’t change her decision. He could only follow her plan.

After a few minutes, they finished making plans for an impromptu press conference with the reporters who were still outside the building.

Then...

Rose reminds Oliver of the White Skull Gang.

"Oliver, I want you to find that person. Can you find him before your master?" Rose wanted to find that person first. She needed to make sure that person wasn’t Dustin.

For some reason, last night, she could not sleep thinking about this. Even though her common sense knew it was impossible, her feelings still told her that this matter wasn’t that simple.

Oliver couldn’t help but frown.

Why does this girl sound weird!? Why did she want to find the man before Evan? Something’s wrong with her. Did she still hide something from him?

He wanted to ask her, but because he was hurrying to meet the reporters, he put aside his curiosity.

"Rose, I’ll try. However, please don’t expect too much. You know, my master is much better than me, right!?"

How could he beat his master to track down that person?

If his master had been looking for that person since yesterday, he might have found that person by now.

"Oooh, sure, sure. I know what to expect!" Rose smiled. Indeed Oscar is more talented than Oliver. She knew it.

That cunning Oscar, how dare he trick her!? How could he disobey her? After he promised her to turn off his cell phone, Evan could still reach him.

Rose was sure the person who had told Evan about her location was Oscar. And she was pretty confident about it.

What Rose doesn’t know is, Oscar, followed her instructions. He wasn’t lying. But Evan has a unique number to contact Oscar — no one knows the number, only Evan.
