Chapter 455: Bitter Truth (1)
Carla’s face turned ashen, seeing how serious Sean was.
"W-What do you mean, Sean?" She asked.
"Nothing!" A devilish smile appears on his face.
Sean’s smile confused Carla. This man doesn’t know that she’s lying... Or does he?
Carla wanted to crack Sean’s brains, to know what he was thinking. It was hard to read what was going through his mind right now.
"Sean, what should I do? Because you can’t help me... Now, I have no one to rely on." She muttered softly as her tears started flowing again, running down her cheeks, "Is this really the end of my career?" She met his eyes, but the man ignored her pitiful look.
Only Carla’s sobs could be heard in the room for a few moments. Sean cast his eyes on the garden, thinking of something.
"But, I think I know who can help you..." Sean said.
Carla’s sobs stopped. She wiped away her tears and sat up straighter, looking at Sean with curious eyes. "Who? Allow me to meet that person..." she suddenly felt that there was hope for her. This is not the end of her career.
Sean looked at Carla, but he didn’t say anything. He just stared at her without showing any expression on his face.
Carla immediately stood up from her seat. She approached Sean and knelt right beside him.
She swallowed her anger before saying, "Sean, I’m begging you... Please do me a favor. Can you arrange a time to meet that person? Please. If he can come now, that would be best."
Her hands clenched tightly over her knees. It felt like she couldn’t even lift her head from embarrassing herself in front of this man.
This was the first time she had begged someone this lowly. But, right now, she has no other choice. This is the only way to get out of this mess, to hell with all her images. Right now, she just wanted all this gossip to dissipate.
If Sean’s friend can help her, she will take a break from this industry. She would disappear for a few years and return after all the gossip about her had been forgotten.
Sean almost laughed out loud when he saw Carla, who usually maintained a graceful and calm demeanor, kneeling in front of him like this. What he witnessed now was hilarious — if Evan saw this woman do this, he guaranteed his cousin would be thrilled.
"Carla, don’t do this..." Sean grabbed Carla’s shoulder and forced her to stand up. But the woman insisted on kneeling. So, he let it be. If Carla had seen Sean’s face at this moment, she would have been shocked to see his mocking smile frame his face.
"I’m not standing until you help me meet that person. Please, help me just this once..." she lifted her head to meet Sean’s eyes. "Mhm... Sean, please... Please call that person."
Sean took a deep breath as he leaned back in his chair.
He said, "Carla, even though I wanted to help you, I didn’t think that man wanted to help you..." Sean said calmly, but in his heart, he held back his laughter, amused by how desperate Carla’s expression was.
"Huh!? Why? Why do you think like that?" Carla held Sean’s feet, trying to convince him one more time. "Sean, please arrange a meeting with him. Whether he will help me or not, we will see, but for now, the important thing is I want to meet him first."
She would give that person a significant amount of money if he could erase all her digital gossip footprints. She had no other way. Her dumbass hacker disappeared without a trace. Likewise, Willard Harper, who usually helped her, is now gone.
She would be grateful if Sean could introduce her to that person. She believes the person is a reliable hacker, judging from Sean’s confidence.
"Still, he will never help you!"
Carla was confused.
"Can you call him? Let me talk to him." If she couldn’t meet, she would beg her over the phone. She will offer her entire fortune if need be.
Sean’s gentle eyes turned sharp, looking at Carla, "It’s useless, Carla. That man is Evan Collins. He will never help you!"
Carla could feel a chill all over her spine hearing that name.
Evan Collins!? A man who can help me, Evan Collins? Suddenly her throat felt like it was being sliced with a sharp dagger. For a moment she lost her ability to speak, and her thoughts were in turmoil.
How could she ask Evan Collins for help? While she has been creating fake news about their relationship. Obviously, the man already knew she was behind the gossip news.
This was the end of her career. Suddenly, Carla felt extreme shortness of breath, as if someone was crushing her chest. Her head was bowed, staring at the wooden floor while crying silently.
"You should stop here, Carla." Sean’s voice turned sharp, "I told you before, you should forget about him. But you are still playing with fire, trying to create a love line between you and him. What do you expect from him?"
Carla listened silently.
"He will never like you...."
She trembled as she burst into tears. She took Sean’s hand, "S-Sean, Sean, I’m sorry. I love him so much. That’s why I had no choice but to do that..."
Sean shook off Carla’s hand. He stood up from his chair and walked towards the window. His eyes narrowed to the Japanese garden outside.
"This is your end, Carla Miller. No one can help you!" Sean’s cold voice was like a death note for Carla.
She looked at Sean, who was standing by the window.
"S-Sean, let me see him! I want to apologize to him..." Carla stood up from the floor. With slow steps, she approached Sean. "Please, Sean, I know Evan doesn’t like me anymore. At least let me meet him, okay!?"
Sean glanced at Carla, who was now standing beside him. He turned to face her.
"Do you know Carla..." before Sean could finish his words, Carla retorted.
