Chapter 448: Sorry If I Hurt You

Rose was shocked when she saw her mother’s face. "M-Mom, I..."

Molly raised her hand to stop Rose from speaking. She looked into her daughter’s eyes, "I’m sorry... I was wrong, Rose. There’s no need to say anything. I understand now... from now on, I won’t talk about this kind of issue anymore, I promise you..."

"M-mom... why are you angry with me?" Rose’s voice sounded shaky when she saw how sad her mother was. Why was she suddenly angry and sad now? Even though she never refused anything she gave her.

Molly smiled at Rose and stood up from her chair, "It’s okay my dear. Your mother is not angry..." she smiled. "Now, you have to finish your lunch first..." she said, then left.

"Mom, please wait! Where are you going, Mom?" Rose panicked as she watched her mother walk away. She could feel her mother’s act was unusual — this was the first time she saw the irritated glint in her mother’s eyes.

Rose feels uneasy. She stood up from her seat, walked toward her mother, and gently grabbed her hand.

Molly halted her step. She turned to look at her daughter, "Rose Spencer, if you don’t finish your meal, I’d be furious!" said Molly while smiling at her daughter. She rubs her hair gently before continuing her words, "I’ll call you later. I have to get home. Your father needs me at home."

Worried that her mother would get angry, Rose could only agree with her orders.

"Good girl..." Molly stroked Rose’s cheek gently, then turned around. Her smile gradually faded as sadness was visible on her face. She started walking casually to avoid her daughter, knowing she would cry by now.

She was hurt to see her daughter’s teary eyes, but she was angry with her too. She felt her daughter had closed herself off her – there was some distance between them.

Now, she just wanted to go home and tried to calm her emotions. She needs Nicholas to talk about this.

After seeing her mother’s back disappear from her sight, Rose sat back but still felt uneasy. She could feel that her mother was not okay. Her mother was furious about something.

This made her anxious.

She started to eat her favorite food, which she always ate when she lived in city B with her mother. Although this is her favorite food, she can not enjoy it this time. Her mind was filled with her mother’s words earlier.

"Mother, sorry If I hurt you. I didn’t mean it..." she murmurs to herself.

Without her noticing it, her tears started to fall — she ate while crying. This strange feeling really hurt her heart. This was the first time she had made her mother sad like that. In some way, she felt her heart thorn.

At Starlight Investments.

Evan Collins leads a crucial meeting with the Directors and Executives of Starlight Investment. He was utterly oblivious to the internet and social media gossip about him and Carla Miller.

However, in the middle of the meeting, Evan saw Gavin suddenly stand up from his chair and walk towards him. Judging by how tense Gavin’s face was, he could sense something was wrong.

Evan silently heard Gavin’s report. In short, his face turned dark. He immediately stood up from his seat and walked toward the door. Everyone in the room was shocked to see their big boss looking furious.

"Gavin, continue the meeting without me..." Evan said when he arrived at the door. He then left the meeting room.

He made a call as soon as he entered his office. Standing by the window looking at the garden below. The phone connected.

"What happened out there?" Evan’s icy tone could make Oscar on the other end goosebumps.

Oscar looked at his cellphone screen, too surprised to hear his boss’ voice, and sounded displeased on the other end.

Is it a dream? No. This was definitely not a dream—he could feel his head hurt and his boss’s voice sounded real.

"B-Boss, what happened!?" Oscar asked, confused. He just woke up. Ever since New Year’s Eve, when he faced a hacker with almost the same abilities as him, he felt the need to sharpen his skills.

He never wastes time on useless things. His time is spent creating many programs. And, of course, he’s still chasing after the hacker who messed with him. He knew the person was hiding very well and avoided using the internet.

However, Oscar was in no hurry. He had already laid so many traps for him. As soon as the man went online, he would definitely catch him.

Because of that hacker, he hasn’t been getting much sleep lately. He only sleeps an hour or two a day.

And an hour ago he had fallen asleep but a special cell phone — the one his boss only knows — suddenly rang. Instantly his eyes felt refreshed.

"What the hell, Oscar!! Were you sleeping when the rumors out there surfaced again?" Evan stood by the glass wall, massaging his suddenly sore forehead. "Go check the internet and clear it for me. I need you to report in 30 minutes." He hangs up angrily.

"What gossip!?" Oscar walked fast to his study room. When he opened his laptop, he was shocked. He believed he had destroyed this photo from whoever had it on their phone or storage memory.

"What the hell!! Is this photo still on the internet? Who is the person who is bored with his life and dares to upload this photo again? Waah... this person is courting death! You bastard, I will find you and send you to your coffin!"

Oscar was sure the hacker messing up this time was the same person he was after.

"Don’t blame me. You pushed me to do this. Well, I will hack a satellite on the European continent to find you. Wherever you hide, I will find you!" Oscar continued.

He typed quickly on the keyboard with his eyes glued to the monitor screen. He will solve this problem soon — his traps have been laid worldwide.
