Chapter 413: Let’s Breakup
"Oliver, please wait here for a moment. I need to ask Keira first..." His daughter’s condition is still unstable, and he worries that his daughter will be shocked.
"Yes, Uncle, I understand. I will wait...."
"Jayson, who’s coming?" Emily Stearn asked in a low voice—worried that her daughter would wake up—when she saw Jayson closing the door.
"Oliver Hester, Wilson Group CEO..."
Instantly Keira’s body stiffened upon hearing Oliver’s name. She opened her eyes and looked at her father. "Dad, you said Oliver was waiting outside?" Her heart started beating fast.
"You did a great job, Jayson. Keira is still traumatized. It seems like she still wants to be alone...." Emily said as she fixed her daughter’s blanket. "Kei, go back to sleep. Your father will ask Oliver Hester to visit you another day..."
Keira feels uncomfortable meeting Oliver. She feels traumatic and humiliated after that bastard Seth almost raped her—but deep down, she also wants to see Oliver so badly.
Keira was tongue-tied, confused about what she should do.
"Fine..." Jayson agreed with his wife, his daughter needed time to rest. He walked to the door, but before he opened the door, he heard his daughter say,
"Father, please stop. Let him in..." Keira’s voice sounded very weak.
"Are you sure?" Emily was surprised to see her daughter. Her previously empty-looking eyes were now slowly emitting emotion. Although it wasn’t entirely back to normal as it used to be, there was some good progress.
"Yes, mom."
"Okay... you met him. Your father and I are going to the surgery room to check your cousin’s condition." Emily stroked her daughter’s hair gently.
Keira nodded while smiling, trying to hide her emotions from her parents.
After her parents left the room, the smile that graced her pale face slowly faded. Feelings of shame, fear, and worry immediately enveloped her. She could feel it, her heart was racing, and her hands were cold—she wasn’t confident enough to meet him.
Now she regrets it. Is this the right decision to meet Oliver?
Her eyes stared blankly at the door. And when she saw the door slowly open, she quickly turned her gaze to the other side—pretending to be asleep.
Keira could feel Oliver standing by her bedside—the tenser she was. The familiar scent filled her senses, overpowering the unique smell of the hospital she hated so much.
Keira is feeling happy. But somehow, she also felt worried and afraid.
Afraid Oliver would see through her unpleasant emotions. She forced herself not to look at him—continued to pretend to be asleep.
"Keira... forgive me for not being there to help you." A deep regret was obviously felt in his voice. "Are you sleeping enough?"
"No, I’m not, but I lost my confidence long ago. And I’ve also lost the ability to speak." Keira answered silently in her heart—not daring to move an inch.
"You sleep?"
Keira, "..."
"Why are you avoiding me? Do you feel anything uncomfortable?" A feeling of worry enveloped Oliver when he saw Keira’s strange attitude. It was as if she was avoiding him. Why?
A faint smile appeared on Oliver’s face as their little deal crossed his mind.
"Dear... Are you mad that I came without telling you?" Oliver worries that Keira will be angry about meeting her parents without permission. "Don’t worry. I introduced myself to your father as your office colleague, not your lover. They don’t know about us... well, not yet..." a light chuckle could be heard in the room. But, still no response from Keira.
Oliver felt even more confused.
He slowly sat up on the bed and touched her shoulder gently.
"I know you are not sleeping, Keira. Your mother told me that you want to see me. Why are you pretending to sleep? Please, I’m concerned about your well-being. That’s why I was desperate to come here even though I knew your parents would be with you. I..." Oliver stopped talking when he saw Keira finally look at him.
A happy smile appeared on Oliver’s face when he saw Keira was now staring at him.
"Oliver..." Their eyes stared at each other, "Let’s break up!"
"Hahaha... Keira, are you kidding right? Oh dear, words like that can bring a jinx... don’t say it too easily." He rubs her cold cheek gently and smiles lovingly at her.
"Oliver, I’m serious." Her voice trembled slightly. She felt extreme suffocation, like a huge rock was pressing against her chest.
"WHAT! K-Keira... No, I will never break up with you. Never!"
No language could describe how shocked Oliver was right now. Seeing Keira’s foreign gaze made Oliver feel like someone had hit his head. This girl is not kidding. She actually asked him to break up.
For a moment, they just looked at each other. No one spoke, not even blinked. After a while, Oliver finally broke the silence and awkwardness between them.
Oliver slowly took Keira’s hand and squeezed it gently.
"Keira, I never heard you say those words before." he released his grip and stood up. "I will go now and let you think about it. We’ll talk about it later when we meet again...." He leaned closer to her head and kissed her forehead, and left.
Oliver wasn’t going to argue with her this time. Previously, before entering this room, Keira’s mother told him that Keira had been severely traumatized. And asked him to be more patient with Keira.
With steps that felt so heavy, Oliver left the room without looking back, even though he heard Keira insist on breaking up with him. He would pretend he didn’t listen to it.
But, for some reason, his heart ached so much. Feels like someone just stabbed it with a million daggers. The pain was unbearable.
Keira saw Oliver’s back disappear behind the door. Instantly her eyes felt warm, and soon tears began to flow. The tightness in her chest was getting worse—This was the worst feeling he had ever felt...
"Sorry, Oliver... I’m really sorry! I’m not an innocent girl anymore... I... I can’t see your eyes like before. And this breakup is the best for us...." Her sobs swallowed all her words. All that was left were her sobs that grew louder.
