Rebirth: Dancing In My Destiny -
Chapter 344: Getting Better
Chapter 344: Getting Better
The next day, when the sky was still dark. Evan and Rose were getting ready to do some physical exercise. Usually, Rose would go to her grandfather’s place to practice. Still, this morning, for the first time, Evan would accompany her to practice at Misty Mountain.
This Misty Mountain belongs to Collins and is closed to the public. There are trails to hike and car paths to reach the top of the mountain. The distance from their house to the mountain’s top is about 3 miles. It can be reached in about an hour and a half on foot.
That morning Rose and Evan were on the hiking trail to the top. Rose would walk at the pace her grandfather had set her as part of a tailor-made sniper training program.
This was Rose’s first time taking this route to the top. It was still too dark to see the path she was taking, but she could faintly see the way she was on was flanked by very shady trees.
Evan stared at her as Rose concentrated on keeping her pace and controlling her breathing. He smiled, seeing her so excited doing this training.
He could see; her footsteps and breathing remained steady even though they had walked for almost an hour—halfway to the top.
Evan was proud to see her stamina increase after some practice with Old Spencer. Completely different from the last time he saw her doing physical exercises. It was still clear in his memory when they were still living in the apartment, she always complained when they exercised together.
But this time, not once did he hear her complain. Only a few times did he hear her take deep breaths. Even when he reached out to help her walk, his wife politely refused.
Rose’s change surprised Evan.
"Wife, your feet okay?" Evan asked while looking at her ankles. A black belt was around her ankles, weighing 2.5 kg on each leg. Likewise, on her wrists, there’s a black belt too. It is the same as that on her ankles.
So while walking from their house to the top, Rose carried a total weight of 10 kg. This was extraordinary for Rose, who did not like this strenuous activity.
Evan thought that after a few days of training with Old Spencer, Rose would give up. But, it turned out that Evan was wrong. To this day, Rose has never complained to him.
He knew that physically she must be exhausted. Because he had experienced this practice when he was a child. In the past, he always wanted to give up every time he finished training.
"Yeah... it is all right so far." A faint smile frames her face as she continues to walk at her speed. Her breaths started to get a little short. Still, she tried her best to not show Evan that she was beginning to feel tired—walking fast; carrying a weight of 10 kilos is not easy—but she forced herself to reach the peak.
"Excellent, wife. You’re the best. Don’t worry, we will arrive soon..." Evan tried to comfort her.
Rose didn’t answer Evan anymore. She focused on maintaining her speed and keeping her breathing under control as she looked around; she was astonished to see the trees around her starting to change color—fall is coming.
Every now and then, Rose looked at the sports watch to ensure the time was on target. Her grandfather had given her a target to achieve, and she had to report directly to him after completing the training session.
Rose did not want to delay her physical training this time, even though it was exhausting. She needs a solid stamina and body strength foundation to be a good marksman and martial arts master.
It wasn’t long before they finally reached the top. At the same time, on the horizon, the sun began to appear.
For a moment, Rose was mesmerized to see the orange tinge of the sun begin to creep up. It was so beautiful.
"Beautiful..." Rose couldn’t help but praise the beauty of nature.
Since she lived in the Misty Mountains, this was the first time she could watch the sunrise from the top of the mountain. The pain she felt immediately faded after seeing the pretty sky before her eyes.
"Yes, I agree with you. Very beautiful!" Evan said as he looked at his wife, standing beside him. He could clearly see the sweat on her forehead; she looked beautiful.
Evan chuckled as he turned his gaze towards the rising sun.
Soon they were both sitting on a wooden bench looking at the city.
Rose realized that there was a beautiful park with a small gazebo. She also saw a functional house that was not too big. And on the other side, there is a parking lot for cars.
"Wow, this place is beautiful. Do you often come here at night?"
"Back then, yes. We’re here for the barbecue."
"I wish we could come back here at night...." He thought seeing the city’s beauty at night from their home was already beautiful. But, he was sure seeing it from up here was much more attractive.
"Sure dear... we will!"
Before long...
Rose was surprised when she saw a black SUV appear and stop in the parking lot. Soon, she saw Sam show up with Laura Martin. They had a picnic basket.
She was so happy seeing the hot coffee, sandwiches, and fresh fruit on the table. She didn’t expect Evan to take her to breakfast from up here.
"Lady Boss, Boss... please enjoy your breakfast." After arranging the food, Sam and Laura left them.
"Wife, hurry, eat your breakfast...." Evan said.
Autumn was approaching, and the air was starting to feel cold, especially at the top of this mountain. Rose was freezing even though she was already wearing her sports jacket. She immediately took hot coffee to warm her body.
As Rose enjoyed her breakfast, she remembered a story about Evan, a talented sniper who became her grandfather’s favorite student.
