"WHY!?"

Evan couldn’t believe what he heard. Why did she suddenly ask him to use a condom? Why bother using condoms when they are officially married? Having children is not a problem, right?

"Wife, you don’t want to give birth to my children?"

Rose was taken aback by his words. "Hubby, I want to. I really want to. But not now!" Rose said softly. Somehow, looking at how frustrated his expression was, she suddenly felt guilty for stopping him. Rose could see how upset he was now. She sat facing him and tried to hold his hand to try to calm him.

"But, I don’t have a condom right now..." He tried to stay calm. But, for some reason, his head suddenly felt hurt.

"I... I have a condom! Wait..." Rose immediately got out of bed. She grabbed a bathrobe from the floor and walked to the corner table to get her bag. She remembered she had put the condom in it.

Evan was now sitting on the side bed staring intently at his wife, walking briskly towards the table. He narrowed his eyes as a strange question appeared in his mind.

"Why do you have a condom?" Evan asked calmly. Didn’t hear her reply. He got off the bed, following her without using anything. He didn’t care about the room’s cold air from the central air conditioner. At this time, his body heat was still lingering all over his body. And his head hurts from trying to hold back his lust.

"I keep one condom. Well, I found this condom at our hotel in Vale city... I thought it was yours, right?" Rose finally found what she was looking for. She turned around only to bump into his sturdy chest. And his firm hand held her waist.

"Hmm... I told Sam to provide, just in case we... you know... We did that! But that didn’t happen..." Evan secretly took a deep breath to calm his thoughts.

"Yeah! That’s why I took one, and I’ve been carrying it with me ever since. Just in case we need it." Rose looked up, trying to see his expression. She was surprised when he saw his annoyed-looking face now vanish, and there was only a calm face and warm eyes staring at her.

"H-Hubby...we can do it now. Let me put it on for you..." Rose gulped as she finished her words. This was the most embarrassing no, the shameless sentence she had ever said in her entire life.

"No... No... need!"

"What! What do you mean with NO NEED?" Rose frowned in fear that Evan was now angry with her and refused to make love on their first night. "Y-You mad at me, H-hubby... Evan?"

Evan didn’t answer her, but he carried her to the bed. "I’m not mad at you. Let’s just sleep. Our flight leaves early in the morning. I’m afraid you’ll be exhausted and can’t wake up if we do the deed now." His voice sounded calm, but Rose knew this man must be disappointed with her. Instantly a guilty feeling enveloped her heart. She was utterly speechless now.

After carrying and placing her on the bed, Evan stood up again before saying, "Wait here..." He walked to the walk-in closet at the same time Rose scolded herself. She was really sure Evan must be disappointed in her.

How dare she stop him? How dare she say she doesn’t want children now? Countless angry questions engulfed her fuming mind. She could only curse her head a hundred times for daring to do that.

Rose felt really guilty. If only she could turn back time, she would talk to him before today. Now, Rose felt like crying for letting Evan down. She buries her face with her hands as she tries to hold her tears.

’Your Husband must be mad! Your Husband must be feeling disappointed!’ This sentence rang in her ears and made her unable to stand it. She has to talk to him. Just before Rose wants to follow him to the walk-in closet, she sees him walking toward her. In his hands, he carried a red silk nightgown. Rose tried to read his emotions. She could see there was no glint of anger in his eyes. He wasn’t angry!? It confused her slightly.

"Put this on...." Evan helped her to put on her nightgown with a calm expression. But his face has made Rose feel even more guilty.

Later...

She lay beside him under the white blanket with their faces staring at the ceiling. No one talks until Rose feels she can’t hold anymore. She must tell him about her feelings.

"H-Hubby... I’m sorry. If you want us to make love now, I’m ready. I... I promise you, I will wake up early in the morning so we will not miss our flight." Rose was now tilting her body towards Evan. She put her hand on his chest to feel his heartbeat. Trying to find out, is he really not that angry? But what she found surprised her. His heart rate is standard. He’s not angry at all.

Evan tilted his body, holding her hand, and his eyes met his wife’s before he said, "Why are you apologizing to me? You weren’t wrong. I’m the one who should be at fault."

"How so!?" Rose was confused.

"Because I know we’re leaving tomorrow morning, but I almost ruined our plan when I saw you just come out of the bathroom. You look so hot and sexy, wife. You turn me on as fast as lightning...." He paused for a slight chuckle. Rose was speechless hearing his words.

"Well, as I said, It’s not your fault. I should be the one thanking you because I almost ruined my plan...." Evan continued.

Rose could feel Evan’s words were sincere and unpretentious. This man wasn’t angry because she had stopped him. But somehow, Rose still thought it was her fault. She should have told Evan about her plan to postpone having children. Rose wanted to spend a year or two with Evan. Maybe she is more prepared for having a child in the third year.

"I should have told you beforehand about my plan..."
