Chapter 265: Your Heart Will Never Forget
Chapter 265: Your Heart Will Never Forget
Xyronos appeared calm, but internally, he was hurting. This woman had been willing to sacrifice her life for him in the past, yet now, she seemed to have completely forgotten about him.
He stared at her eyes for a few more seconds, trying to find something he wanted to see, the loving gaze from her that he missed dearly.
However, after a few seconds pass, he feels disappointed when he finds nothing. Instead, he saw, the suspicion in Iris’ gaze grew stronger.
"I do," Xyronos said. "We have a very close relationship, Iris." He smiled.
"D-Did y-you—" Iris’ voice trembled as she started to guess this man was someone who related to her past life in the middle realm. "Perhaps you come from the middle realm?"
Iris tried to remember, but no matter how hard she tried, there was no trace of him in her memories.
"Yes. I come from that place, just like you," Xyronos felt amused when he saw her gasp in shock.
"And... you know me?"
"Oh, dear Iris, of course I know you." His cheerful tone was enough to make Iris even more surprised. He continued in his unhurried voice, "—because you are my lady, my bride."
Iris almost choked upon hearing his words. How dare he say that?
"S-sir—"
"Xyronos, that’s my name. But, you are the only person in this universe who can call Xy..." He gave her a wide smile. However, Iris was utterly speechless when she realized how selfish and self-confident this man was.
How could he claim that they were a couple in the middle realm?
Although she still doesn’t remember her past, she heard from several people that she was engaged to Xavier, not him. She would never believe this man.
"Sir! Stop saying nonsense. As far as I remember, my fiancé in the middle realm, not you, but—" Before Iris finished her words, Xyronos chimed in.
"Xavier!" His voice was cold, and his eyes slowly turned dark, saying the name he hated the most.
She straightened her back, looking at him in shock.
"YOU... YOU KNOW HIM!?"
Veins appeared on Xyronos’ forehead. He didn’t rush to answer her; however, looking at how confused she was now, he finally said, "That bastard was responsible for our dark fate, Iris..."
No matter how hard Xyronos tried not to express his anger in front of her, he couldn’t. The thought of the dark moment in the past tormented him once again, leaving his wounds open.
That time when he witnesses her die in Xavier’s embrace kills him deeply. He no longer wanted to live. He just wanted to follow her to the afterlife.
He fights to avenge her death till his last breath. But he never imagined his father was involved. He didn’t let him die; instead, he sent him to this place to heal. But, of course, he never wholly recovered. His wound is still there and is now starting to open again.
...
Iris’ hands clenched into tight fists. Her anger slowly returned after hearing this man say bad things about Xavier.
"Has anyone told you that you are the most shameless man who ever graced this realm!?" She said sternly.
Xyronos, "..."
When she didn’t see him saying anything, she continued, "How could you talk badly about my husband? Don’t slander him. He is the kindest and loving man I have ever met in my entire life—" Iris said. She couldn’t hold her anger.
When she tried to scold him again, something weird happened. Her anger slowly faded. She could feel a warm feeling slowly appearing inside her in seconds.
Feeling helpless, she said, "Sir, please stop manipulating my mind. How could you use your ability to control my emotions?" Her voice was cracking as she was holding her tears.
Xyronos was surprised when he heard her voice tremble and her eyes slightly red. But when he listened to her last words, he felt confused — He didn’t manipulate her emotions.
He couldn’t deny that he could manipulate her emotions and hear her thoughts when she arrived in this place.
However, he stopped listening to her thoughts after she started thinking about Xavier. He couldn’t stand hearing her thoughts about other men. It made him jealous and angry.
"Iris, how could you accuse me like that?" Xyronos’ voice sounded gentle, but there was deep disappointment in it.
Iris was slightly frowned, looking at his gloomy expression.
"I wouldn’t do something like that to you, Iris. You know that!" He continues his words while his eyes stare back at her.
’He didn’t do it?’ Iris feels even more confused after hearing his words. ’Something is not right with me!’ she thought.
Iris clearly feels her anger always disappears once she is upset with him.
"Don’t lie to me, sir!"
"I’m not, Iris. How can I make you trust me?"
Iris could see how serious he was now, but she still doubted him somehow.
"If you didn’t do that, why did my anger always fade whenever I wanted to—" She paused when she saw him laugh.
’What the hell!! Why is he even laughing?’ She narrowed her eyes, looking at him.
"My dear Iris, your heart tells you not to be angry with me. Because..." A charming smile appeared on his lips before continuing, "Your heart is mine, Iris. Even though you still don’t remember me, your heart still remembers me..."
No words came out of her mouth, as she was simply shocked and speechless by what she heard.
Iris could understand what he meant. Even though her memory hasn’t returned, her heart won’t lie. She still remembers him.
’Did this man tell the truth that we were both lovers in the past?’ Thinking about this suddenly gave her goosebumps. She could feel her blood running cold and imagined this man was her lover.
’How about Xavier? Why did he claim he was my fiance?’ More and more questions whirled around her mind like a fog covering the truth.
She feels utterly puzzled.
"Iris, I own your heart. No matter how you forget me, your heart will not..." Xyronos emphasized his words again after seeing Iris looking confused.
