Iris was surprised to learn this. It was the first time she had heard of it. Not even Justin or Niles had mentioned anything to her.

"I’m Xiu Darkwood," he said after gently accepting Iris’s hand and planting a kiss on it.

He silently protested to Xiu, ’How could I become your uncle now, Father!?’ However, Xiu completely ignored him, engrossed in conversation with Iris on the couch.

Feeling helpless, Xavier chose not to join them and joined Lucian and the others at the corner. He sat next to Lucian, who was curious to hear what Xiu was talking about with Iris, but he couldn’t hear anything.

Lucian leaned in closer to Xavier. "Did you catch what they’re discussing?" he whispered.

"Do you think I’m more powerful than him?" Xavier didn’t bother glancing at Lucian; his focus remained on his wife. "And stop talking about him... Even if you whisper or think, he still knows."

Lucian swallowed silently and pressed his lips tightly. He refrained from further conversation with Xavier, merely sitting and listening to Niles, Justin, and Gavriel, who discussed their plan to visit the island tomorrow.

However, Lucian’s quietness was interrupted when Xavier’s voice suddenly echoed in his ear.

’Why are you still here? And how dare you carry me down here without waking me up!?’ Xavier asked. He still feels annoyed when he hears about it from Iris.

’I tried to wake you up, but your father forbade me to,’ he responded, though it wasn’t entirely truthful because he didn’t try to wake him up.

’He forbade you!?’ Xavier turned his gaze to Lucian, curious to confirm the truth.

Lucian didn’t bother to hide anything from Xavier. He allows him to read his memories.

When Xavier saw Lucian’s memories, what he witnessed left him unable to contain his inner scolding toward his father, not because he didn’t wake him up but for another reason.

Iris was surprised to realize she had indeed forgotten about her dinner because she was engrossed in conversation with Xiu. Somehow, Xiu’s charisma had the power to make her forget anything. As she looked into his eyes, she felt captivated and immersed in communicating with him. However, she couldn’t even recall what they were discussing. Now, she was curious whether Xiu had manipulated her mind.

"Hmm, I’m a bit hungry now," she replied, looking up to meet his tender gaze.

"Come," Xavier took her hand and walked toward the dining table, but Iris abruptly stopped as she remembered about Xiu.

"Wait, Xavier..." Iris turned back to see Xiu, "Have you eaten—" Suddenly, she paused when she remembered Xiu was Xavier’s nephew — a vampire who wouldn’t eat.

Before Iris could continue her words, Xiu said, "Thank you, Iris, for remembering me," smiling as he clasped his hand, "I’m also hungry... Let’s go eat now..." He walked past them toward the dining room.

Iris was stunned. Looking at Xiu walking ahead, she thought, ’Did he eat? I mean, he is a vampire, right?’

Xavier’s face stiffened as he looked at his shameless father. After ensuring his father vanished from his side, he turned to Iris, saying, "He is not. We better go now, or he will eat everything on the table!"
