Chapter 243: Meet Xiu

Chapter 243: Meet Xiu

Xavier immediately raised his head and was stunned to see a man his age, with short white hair, standing with his arms crossed behind him. He had never seen this person before, but looking into His familiar golden eyes, Xavier knew who this man was.

A faint smile slowly formed on Xavier’s lips as he witnessed the man’s calming smile, instantly easing the pain in his chest.

"F-Father..." Xavier stammered. He felt immense happiness finally meeting Him after years of separation, even though now he didn’t appear in his natural appearance as usual.

His Father was the one who gave him life. He could appear in any form he pleased, and he called him Father, while others called him God. Sometimes, his Father would take on the appearance of a teenager, a child, or even a woman — Xavier and those who had seen his true face were already accustomed to this.

However, even though his Father always appears in another appearance, he can recognize him at just one glance through his Father’s eyes and voice.

Xavier had harbored resentment towards his Father for banishing him to this lower realm for what he deemed ridiculous reasons.

However, after hearing everything from Lucian, he understood that his Father was only trying to help him fix everything.

"Father, I apologize if all this time I hated you because of my actions—" Xavier was too ashamed and regretful to continue his sentence.

Taking his gaze off his Father, he looked at his house. He could see Iris in their bedroom waiting for him. Seeing her happy face, waiting for his return, made him even more depressed. His hand was tightly clenched. He felt frustrated.

"Call me Xiu..." His command surprised Xavier. He turns to see him, and a smile slightly appears on his face upon hearing it. It was typical of his Father’s antics—appearing with a new face and name.

As usual, Xavier refused. How could he call his Father by that name?

"Father, I will not address you like that unless someone else is around."

"Do as you wish, my son," Xiu replied, giving Xavier a light smile despite his refusal.

Silence hung in the air. They both remained quiet. They return, gazing at the distant scenery as if lost in their thoughts.

Before long, Xiu turns to see Xavier and breaks the silence, "My son, do you want your memory back?"

His Father’s voice once again startled Xavier. He looked back at him. The moment their eyes met, a frightening feeling arose in his heart when he knew he could regain his memories.

Countless ’what if’ questions now linger in his mind — What if he can’t handle it? What if the truth would distance him from Iris?

Somehow, he cannot utter a word now, only staring back at his Father in silence. This tortures him.

...

Seeing Xavier looking hesitant, Xiu continued his words, "Xavier, you have to know... I erased your memories because you begged me," he smiled lovingly at his stubborn son while patting his shoulder gently before continuing, "Back then, I didn’t want to do that, but you threatened me. You said you would kill yourself if I refused..."

Xavier was shocked when he heard that. He never imagined that he was the one who asked for his memories to be erased.

"Am I that miserable?" Xavier couldn’t help but ask. He had no memory of it. However, the pain he felt when Lucian told him about Iris dying in his embrace was enough to make him feel anguish.

"Don’t ask me. I’m not the one who experienced it. But you..." Xiu shook his head slowly while chuckling, recalling his son’s ignorance. "I can return your memories, and you can feel the pain again if you’re curious," His melodious voice seemed to ensnare Xavier, making him hesitate.

Xavier attempted to speak several times, but no words came out. A frightening feeling overwhelmed him once more.

Xiu continued after a few more seconds, "Xavier, you don’t have to worry. You won’t suffer the pain you felt in the past."

Xavier felt hesitant as he looked at his Father.

"Trust me, you won’t suffer that much because I already plan everything for you. What you experienced in the last few months was my gift to you. I allowed you to meet her before she encountered him, your brother, Xy..."

Xavier gritted his teeth when he heard the word "brother." He never considered Xyronos his brother, mainly since he started building his army and declaring himself the Demon King.

Looking at Xavier’s anger, Xiu hurriedly explained, "My son, I banished you to this lower realm because you mercilessly killed your brother. But I couldn’t bear to see you forever consumed by hatred for me and your brother, living a life devoid of truth. That’s why I decided to intervene..."

Xavier didn’t know how to respond to his Father’s words. He already knew the three of them resided in this lower realm because of his Father. However, after meeting Iris a few months ago, he felt confused about his Father’s intentions in sending her.

Why reopen his deep wound? Again!?

"Why did you purposefully send her to me, Father!?" Xavier couldn’t contain his curiosity.

Xiu glanced at Xavier, "I previously mentioned... I intended for you to meet her before she encountered your brother. Let her choose freely this time, unlike what happened in the past."

Xavier was speechless, feeling frustrated with his Father’s actions.

’Doesn’t Father realize he’s adding to the suffering for all three of us?’ he thought.

"Father, are you bored with your existence... and now choose to play games with us?" Xavier couldn’t contain his frustration. "Can’t you just do something more meaningful in this vast universe? Please... Stop meddling in our lives. It hurts so much, Father. I can’t bear to watch her suffer anymore!"

"Xavier, so you remember?" Xiu was shocked.

"No. But, hearing Lucian’s words brought back the pain after I killed Xy—" Xavier’s voice trailed off, a painful laugh echoing through the air. "And how could you deceive me about his death? He’s still alive, Father."

Xiu remained silent, shifting his gaze to Iris Gray, the source of his headache.

"So, you already know about Xy!?"

Xavier ignored his Father’s question. He asked him, "Does Xy still retain memories of her?"

Seeing his Father’s reluctance, he continued, "Please restore my memory. I want to know what happened—"

Before Xavier could finish his words, Xiu’s hand was already on his forehead. Xavier fell to his knees as all his memories of Iris flooded back, tormenting him like a rapid, painful video playing in his mind.

Xavier felt the pain seeping into his heart and bones as his consciousness gradually faded.

...

Xiu smiled as he looked at his son lying on the rock, curled up while holding his head. He had thought Xavier’s painful memories would fade with time, but he was wrong.

"You may come out now!" Xiu’s cold voice echoed as he gazed toward Xavier’s house.

Lucian appeared a few steps behind Xiu. He lowered his head wordlessly, too afraid to meet his gaze. He knew he had been wrong in revealing what he shouldn’t have to Xavier.

"Your Grace, I beg forgiveness for—" Lucian’s voice halted; his tongue felt stiff, unable to move. He cautiously lifted his head slightly to look toward Xiu. Shocked to see him standing a step ahead, he quickly averted his gaze, holding his breath.

"Lucian, I sent you here to accompany Xavier, and you’ve done well. Your task is to ensure he doesn’t harm himself upon knowing that tragic past..." Xiu smiled slightly, observing Lucian still bowing.

"You may raise your head, Lucian," his tone changed, becoming more commanding. "I am Xiu now. Treat me casually like how you talk to my son, Xavier."

Lucian was taken aback. Slowly, he lifted his head, meeting Xiu’s gaze.

"Your grace—" Lucian paused as he saw Xiu’s glare. "—Lord Xiu, do you intend to stay here in the lower realm?"

"Yes. I will accompany my foolish son and want to meet my daughter-in-law," Xiu clasped his hands happily.

Lucian was even more surprised to hear that. How could he openly support Xavier’s relationship with Iris while his other son would suffer? Did he know the Demon King was still alive?

"Lord Xiu, did you know your other son was still alive?" Lucian can’t help but ask.

"Of course, I knew. I spared his life. I sent his soul here to learn more about humans..." Xiu took a deep breath, thinking about Xyronos, his younger son.

He sent Xyronos to this lower realm to learn humility to make him not greedy for power and become kind. He wasn’t afraid his son would cause trouble in this place because he strived all his powers.

Lucian almost choked hearing Xiu’s words. Earlier, he thought Xiu would be angry if he knew that the Demon King was still alive, but it looked like he was the one who helped The Demon King to rise again.
