Chapter 242: Xavier Finally Learn The Truth (2)
Lucian was completely relieved. Finally, he was able to convey everything to Xavier. And this man would no longer stress him every day.
"She died in his territory. After you found out she died, you declared war on Demon Race... You kill them all. The rest you still remember, right? God angry with you and punish you—"
Xavier raises his hand to stop Lucian from speaking, "I want to know why she went to meet the Demon King?"
Knowing Iris went to the forbidden land confused him. As a Princess of Grayland Kingdom, she was supposed to be aware of the rule prohibiting entry because the land belonged to the Demon Race. Anyone who entered that land without permission would meet their end.
’Did she go there to commit suicide?’ Xavier wondered. But he dismissed that thought. It’s impossible for Iris to do that, right? Engaged to him and part of a respected royal family, why would she consider such a disgraceful action?
This is absolute nonsense. Someone must have drawn her there.
...
Lucian’s face slowly turned stiff upon hearing Xavier’s question. After meeting Xavier’s intense gaze, he finally spoke, "I heard a reliable rumor that Lady Iris went there to plead with The Demon King, asking him not to fight you..."
Doubt flashed through Xavier’s eyes.
"Why would she do that? Why plead with an evil creature for something unnecessary? I can eradicate them easily..." Xavier frowned at Lucian, increasingly confused.
"My friend, you can’t question Lady Iris’s actions," Lucian slightly smiled, looking at Xavier, feeling pity for him and his tragic love story with Lady Iris.
"Speak clearly, Lucian!" Xavier snapped.
Lucian, "..."
"Xavier, actually... you are the one who disrupted someone else’s relationship. You stole Lady Iris from the Demon King—" Lucian’s voice abruptly stopped. He almost choked as an invisible power lifted his body into the air — he knew it was Xavier.
Lucian felt his blood slowly freezing, rendering him unable to move, yet he managed to use his eyes and mouth. He looked at Xavier in horror. "X-Xavier... W-Why are you attacking—"
Before Lucian finished his words, Xavier’s sharp, icy voice pierced Lucian’s ears, "What nonsense are you trying to say, Lucian!? How dare you say something like that? How could I become the third wheel here? Don’t try to amuse me with this topic, or I will send you back to meet your creator!"
Lucian was speechless. He was just answering his questions, yet this man was torturing him — being an honest person was also tricky. He wishes to disappear, but unfortunately, he cannot.
’Sigh! What an unlucky day,’ Lucian could see Xavier’s intense anger; his eyes were turning dark crimson, and his aura of lethal intent grew stronger. He couldn’t believe his bad luck today, facing Xavier’s wrath after so many years.
He might meet his end at Xavier’s hands if he didn’t act now.
Once more, Lucian struggled to free himself from Xavier’s grip. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t escape. Xavier was too powerful for him to deal with.
He felt his entire body turn into ice in no time, and his heartbeat slowed, triggering panic. He looked back at Xavier, pleading with his gaze.
"X-Xavier, my friend... please, just listen," he managed, his breath shallow, sensing his heart freezing over. "I’m your trusted person. You have to believe me. I’m telling the truth. How could I lie to you about this? I—" Lucian’s stiff body suddenly collapsed as Xavier released his grip.
Thud!
Lucian lay on the stone, his face nearly touching the giant boulder. Gasping for air, he looked up at Xavier, who stood still, gazing at the city. He remained motionless, like a handsome ice sculpture.
Lucian really wanted to curse Xavier, but he understood his feelings. Xavier must be hurt knowing what happened between him and Iris in the past.
He decided to give Xavier time to calm down, not wanting to aggravate him further.
After sensing Xavier’s feelings had improved, he stood up to face him. "Xavier, I will never lie to you. And you know that..." he sincerely said.
Xavier slowly turned his gaze to Lucian. He knows Lucian will never lie to him. Earlier, he was too angry to hear that he was the one who took Iris from the Demon King.
How could he believe something like that? But again, he realized Lucian would never lie to him.
Now, he feels scared to know what exactly happened in the past. How could he become the person who took someone else’s woman?
With a calm voice, Xavier said, "Lucian, tell me everything..."
****
Xavier didn’t immediately return home after Lucian left. What Lucian had told him struck him hard. He never imagined having such a troubled past with Iris.
Now, his heart was filled with a strange, unfamiliar feeling.
"Iris, I’m sorry..." Xavier whispered, trying to ease his broken heart. Imagining the events from the past felt like a thousand blades stabbing his heart. It was the first time in many years that he felt such intense pain. His legs gave way, and he fell to his knees, hitting a rock hard.
"I’m sorry, Lady Iris..."
Just hearing Lucian’s story made him sick of himself. If he could remember what happened, maybe he would plead for death from God for the harm he caused her.
Now, he understood why God erased this painful memory.
He couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. "Hahaha... Father... Is this why you removed this painful memory from me?" Xavier asked, pressing his painful chest, trying to divert the agony.
.
.
"My son... Now, do you understand why I did that?" Suddenly, a melodious and charismatic voice came from the side, shocking Xavier — a voice he had missed but hadn’t heard for many years.
Xavier immediately raised his head and was stunned to see a man his age, with short white hair, standing with his arms crossed behind him. He had never seen this person before, but looking into His familiar golden eyes, Xavier knew who this man was.
