Chapter 175: Eric’s Identity

Niles and Justin rewatched the video, and only now did they notice it. They might have never seen it if Xavier hadn’t pointed it out.

They remained silent for a moment, observing the CCTV video. Many thoughts ran through their minds, knowing that another demon had appeared boldly, even killing humans.

After a few minutes, Justin asked, "Why have so many demons been appearing on Earth recently?"

Justin couldn’t help but be suspicious because they had encountered several demons in just a few months, which was unusual. A few days ago, he had witnessed a demoness in District Five. Now, through the CCTV video, he knew that the person who had killed Iris a few months ago was also a demon.

"Yes, I also feel that something is amiss. The one who sent that couple to Darkwood Villa a few weeks ago is also a demon," Niles glanced at Justin to express his concern.

"Ah, you’re right. The couple got the pendant from the demon who manipulated their minds..." Justin said.

As if puzzled by their own suspicions, they looked at Xavier, who seemed calm, but they both knew that their Lord also had the same suspicion.

Looking at Xavier just staring at them without saying anything made Niles ask him, "Milord, please tell us what has happened on this Earth recently. Why—" he froze when he saw Xavier raise his hand to stop him from saying a word further.

"I can’t say anything now. I must meet someone to discuss this before answering your question, Niles..." Xavier said. He couldn’t state it to them even though he already had the answer. He needed to talk with Lucian first.

"Yes, Milord... I understand," Niles answered Xavier right away.

"And I want you guys not to talk about Eric Hester to Iris, especially about the man disguised as him." Xavier then looked at Justin.

"I need you to send someone who could trace the real Eric Hester. If they find him, there is no need to do anything with him... But ask them to observe his surroundings and update me," Xavier instructed.

Justin, slightly frowning, heard his order, "Milord, why can’t we bring Eric here? Milady must be happy to see him, right?"

"Yes, Milord," Niles also shared his thoughts. "All this time, Lady Iris thought Eric had killed her, but it turned out it wasn’t him—"

Xavier also agrees with Niles. Iris must be happy to know that someone she thought her family had never betrayed her; she must be glad to meet Eric. But what happened to Iris was not as simple as Justin and Niles thought. Xavier was suspicious about Iris’s background since she transmigrated into young Iris’s body.

Till now, he still believes that God sent Iris for him. However, he didn’t understand what God’s plan was. That’s why he pleads to meet Him.

"Did you guys forget who we are dealing with?" Xavier asked. He paused to take a deep breath. After seeing them nod, he continued. "Demons are manipulated creatures. They are very cunning. Why do I ask you not to do anything with Eric? Because I want to know why the demon killed Iris, a human. I need to see who’s behind all of this..."

Instantly, Niles and Justin grasped what Xavier meant. He was right about why the demon wanted Iris’s life. This is really suspicious.

"Milord, no worries. We will not say anything to Lady Iris," Justin said, standing from his seat. "I will excuse myself, Milord. I need to arrange people..." He bowed slightly.

Xavier only nodded. After seeing Justin leave the room, he glanced at Niles. "You can go back. I will call you if I need anything. Just make sure to watch the city. If you are suspicious about a demon present in District Four, let me know right away."

"I will carry out your order, Milord..." Niles said. "If you don’t have any further orders, I will excuse myself now."

"Wait," Xavier stopped Niles, who was now reaching the door.

"Yes, Milord?"

"Ask twin guards to come here. I want them to stay in this area."

After Niles left, an invisible cell phone appeared in his hand. He pressed the number one, and after connecting, he greeted Lucian, "We need to talk. Where are you?"

After confirming Lucian’s location, Xavier disappeared from the room.

Iris spent her entire day trying to locate Eric using the picture she received from Xavier. She hacked her own country’s database, Z Country, to find detailed information about Eric.

What she was doing now was challenging because the population in Z Country is quite large, with almost 70 million people. And seeing how slow her searches on her laptop were frustrating her.

She needed to return to her house to use her tech computer.

Iris wasn’t afraid of other Guild members’ threats regarding her return to Z. Still, somehow, she was worried that Eric would notice her because he knew her personal life. He was aware of almost all her property locations because Eric was the person who took her from the orphanage and trained her to become an assassin.

For Iris, Eric had been like an older brother or father to her. In her mind, Eric had been her only family. However, when Eric killed her, all the good memories about him shattered. She no longer trusted the man who betrayed her. She would make sure to take his life.

"Should I go back there?" She was tempted to return to check her house and use her high-tech computer.

She owned a apartment in the heart of the capital of Z country. No one knew about that place, including Eric, because she had bought it a few weeks before her death.

If Eric tried to dig into her information, he would not have succeeded in locating her new property because she had purchased the house using her other identity, Maxi Griffin. No one knew about this identity, including Eric.

"Where do you want to go?"

Xavier’s voice from the door snapped Iris out of her thoughts.
