Chapter 117: Do You Really Love Her?
Chapter 117: Do You Really Love Her?
Suddenly, Gavriel’s voice was heard from behind. She immediately looked back, seeing Gavriel leaning against the wall.
"Yes. Please give me a few minutes. I have to wait for Lucian. There is something I want to ask him," Iris said.
"There’s no need to wait for him. He’s already taken these two souls. It’s a waste of time waiting for him. He’ll never come back here again—"
"WHAT! When? How could I not see him?" Iris was stunned. She didn’t feel anyone’s presence in this room at all.
She looked towards the bed, observing the lifeless bodies of Dudley and Ruby, but she couldn’t say if their souls were still with them or if they had indeed been taken.
"Did you forget what I told you before? If Lucian wanted, he would show himself. And it looks like he didn’t intend to meet you now," Gavriel explained patiently.
"I remember," Iris responded with a gloomy tone.
Gavriel couldn’t do much to respond to her at this moment.
"Come on!!" He urged her. "Someone is heading to this room. You have to leave now or—"
Iris didn’t wait for Gavriel to finish his words. She also spotted someone coming to deliver something to this room — it seemed Ruby ordered something from the front desk.
She quickly left the room. After ensuring the fire escape route was clear, she walked quickly in that direction.
Before long...
Iris smoothly arrived at the parking lot. She immediately got into the car and joined Gavriel.
Soon, their car slowly moved and left the hotel.
"I saw they were suspicious of the room. The person who delivered something to that room knocked several times, but no one responded. I guess they will find out soon..." Iris said while staring upstairs using her divine eyes’ ability.
"How about your plan to expose Dudley Velcoro?" Gavriel asked while focusing on driving the car. He went directly onto the freeway and would only teleport when they were in a safe place.
"You’re right..." Iris comment. She immediately took out her laptop from her space ring. And she posted all the evidence of Dudley Velcoro’s crimes on the Darkhill Police forum.
Iris openly uploaded it to the public because she was too annoyed with how corrupt the Darkhill police force was that Dudley could lead his crime spree without being caught. She knew that behind Dudley, there must be someone more powerful than him. She wanted to expose them all.
After a few minutes, Iris finally finished. She placed her laptop into her space ring. When she gazed outside the car, she was surprised to see they were now in Silenthill.
"We’ve already teleported?" Iris asked in surprise.
"Do you want to go home now?"
"No! Drop me at the train station. I left my car there," she said.

At the Darkhill Hotel.
The sound of an ambulance’s siren echoed from afar and finally stopped in the hotel parking lot. A few police cars also rushed to the hotel, and they eventually discovered the lifeless bodies of Dudley Velcoro and Ruby Winters.
All hotel guests rushed out of their rooms, terrified by the terrible news they had just heard. A couple had died in the room. No one knew the reason for their deaths because the police had not yet issued a statement. But now, almost all television journalists and internet news portals were crowding the hotel entrance.
The commotion below was witnessed by Xavier and Lucian, who now stood on the rooftop. However, after Xavier told Lucian about his findings regarding the Purple Magic Pendant, they stood in pensive silence, staring at the distant horizon, ignoring the commotion below.
They appeared deeply absorbed in their thoughts. Shortly after, it was Lucian who broke the stillness.
"So you said that the pendant you discovered was intentionally dispatched to lure you out of seclusion?" Lucian inquired after a pause, endeavoring to analyze the information he had just received from Xavier.
"Yes. And I located the individual who possesses that pendant, last seen in District 5," replied Xavier, a line appeared between his brows.
Xavier would not be overly concerned if the individual were still in District 2 or 3. However, that person had now appeared in District 5, close to their current location in District 6. This means the person might know his whereabouts. And he really wasn’t happy to know this.
"They are very close," Lucian remarked. "Xavier, I strongly advise you to relocate once more..." He cast a concerned glance in Xavier’s direction.
Xavier did not immediately respond to Lucian’s query. He was weary of the constant need to conceal his presence. While others knew that he had been hiding for some time, only a select few knew the precise reasons behind his seclusion.
"Should I confront them and eliminate the threat?" Xavier proposed, turning his head to gaze at Lucian. He observed Lucian nearly stumbling over his feet in response to his words.
Xavier chuckled. Before continuing his words, "My dear friend Lucian, it seems you do not share my sentiment either!"
"You must not entertain such thoughts, Xavier!" Lucian rebuked him firmly.
"However, I cannot relocate at this moment, not until Iris has gained the strength to follow me," Xavier declared in a grave tone as if warning Lucian.
Lucian was at a loss for words, watching how deeply in love this man was.
"Xavier, please answer my curiosity..." Lucian asked, curious to know Xavier’s sudden affection for Iris, wondering if it might have something to do with his forgotten past.
Xavier’s face became serious as he looked at Lucian. "Speak."
"Do you really love her? What drives these sudden feelings?" Lucian inquired.
"Should there always be a clear reason for loving her?" Xavier countered, his gaze piercing enough to unnerve even Lucian.
Lucian found himself momentarily taken aback by Xavier’s response. Sensing that it might be unwise to press further, lest suspicions regarding his past be aroused, he averted his gaze to the distant horizon, evading Xavier’s sharp eyes.
As Xavier continued to stare at him, Lucian felt a subtle attempt to probe his thoughts. It was an uncomfortable sensation he couldn’t endure for long.
"I can help you," Lucian stated.
"How so!?" Xavier looked at Lucian curiously.
