Chapter 43: Seeing Her Almost Naked
Chapter 43: Seeing Her Almost Naked
After making sure her clothes appropriately covered her body, Aurora turned around and saw Alex standing with his back to her.
She felt a wave of relief.
"A-Alex, what happened? Why are you here?" Aurora lowered her gaze to hide the redness on her cheeks.
Alex still tries to calm his shock after seeing her almost naked. He silently swallowed, adjusting his calm expression.
"Can I turn around now? I don’t want to see you naked on our first night here..." he said calmly, but Aurora felt as if lightning had struck her.
She almost fell but managed to grab the wall beside her.
’What the hell! He got a glimpse of me naked!?’ Aurora could only grumble in her heart, feeling the heat rising within her body and flowing across her face.
"Yes, you can turn around now!" was her quick response as she tried to hide the embarrassment flushing her cheeks.
When she noticed Alex looking at her, she quickly set a boundary. "Could you please say your name before entering my bedroom next time?"
A frown creased his forehead, signaling to Aurora that he was not pleased with her request.
Alex gazed at her, filled with unspoken words. Noticing her nervousness, he stopped to punish her with silence.
"I have done that a few times, but you didn’t respond. I mentioned earlier that dinner in this house was ready at seven. Yet, you didn’t show up even after I waited for several minutes..."
Aurora was taken aback; she hadn’t realized how much time she had actually spent in the shower. No wonder her fingers looked wrinkled from being under the shower for so long.
"What time is it?" she asked, but Alex answered with a sharp gaze as if he wanted to say, "See it for yourself; why are you asking me?" kind of stare.
Her teeth gritted silently as she turned to glance at the digital watch on the bedside table. She was shocked to see it was almost eight.
"Alex, I’m sorry..." Aurora quickly apologized as she approached him, stopping two steps away.
Looking up to meet his angry gaze, she expressed her apologies again for making him wait so long at the dining table. He must be hungry, right? No wonder he looked so annoyed.
But why hadn’t he asked Tina or Martin to call her? Instead, he was waiting for her. And now he is coming into her bedroom to call her.
Aurora felt even worse when Alex sighed deeply before leaving the room without saying a word.
Clenching her hands tightly, Aurora followed him outside.
"I sincerely apologize, Alex. I made you wait. Let’s go; the food must be cold now, but it’s fine. I can heat it for you," she offered genuinely.
Aurora vividly recalled what she used to do in her past life when he was too busy working and forgot to eat dinner; she would heat his meals or cook simple dishes for him, like his favorite instant noodles.
If Alex asked her to cook for him again, she wouldn’t mind doing it—to repay him for taking care of her funeral arrangements and comforting her father in his sadness.
Her apologetic tone halted Alex in his tracks. He turned to look at her.
"No need. I’ve already finished my dinner. You can eat by yourself," Alex said as he continued toward his office.
Aurora was stunned and watched him until he entered the room.
’Rory, what do you expect? Of course, he won’t wait for you. He’s too proud to wait for anyone, especially you, his new wife...’
A small laugh escaped her lips as she walked down the stairs to the dining room. Eating alone didn’t bother her; she had been used to it since she lived in this house.
...
After finishing her peaceful dinner, Aurora asked herself, "Should I return to my stone house?"
The longer she ignored the question, the stronger the urge to return to her house became. Several times, she glanced at the clock.
She had sat in the dining area for nearly thirty minutes, but no one came.
Most workers had returned to their dormitories, leaving only a few cleaners in the basement waiting for her to finish dinner before they came up to clean the entire floor.
Once the cleaners finished, only the security guards patrolling various spots would remain. She was well aware of their locations.
If she wanted to return to her stone house, she only needed to avoid the CCTVs spread across the property.
However, she wasn’t afraid of being caught, as she was already aware of all the blind spots in the CCTV coverage.
She needed to retrieve something from her house and had no choice but to return—hoping her plan would go smoothly.
Aurora didn’t linger in the dining room for long. Instead, she returned to her bedroom, waiting for the right moment to act.
While waiting, Aurora checked her cell phone and saw numerous texts from David reminding her about tomorrow’s class.
She felt grateful to have him as a friend in her new life. David’s detailed and punctual regular updates made it unnecessary for her to worry about missing any information.
"Thank you, David!"
She replied briefly to his text message before turning off her phone and peeking out the window.
From her bedroom, she could see the empty backyard. But she didn’t rush to go there. She needed to make sure no one could see her there.
After waiting a few more minutes, she returned to her study room and opened her laptop to access the main house’s CCTV.
Seeing that all the staff had left the main house made her happy. The digital clock displayed eleven o’clock, the perfect time for her to return to her stone house.
The corridor on the second floor leading to the stairs was dimly lit, with only a few yellow lights illuminating certain spots.
With light steps, she approached the stairs.
However, before going down, she noticed the light under Alex’s office was still on.
’Is he still working?’
Earlier, her excitement about returning to her house had caused her to forget to check the CCTV in Alex’s office.
Now, she feels hesitant, worried that Alex might be downstairs.
