Chapter 29: Finally, Meeting Alex

"Miss Aurora, you can get in the car now..."

Aurora was taken aback when she heard Alvin’s voice. "Thanks..." she responded briefly before looking at Alex. She gently bowed her head to Alex and settled beside him.

She felt her heart race. Her cold hands, resting on her lap, were tightly clenched.

Sitting beside Alex again, Aurora found it difficult to describe her feelings. It felt surreal; she had faced death, yet here she was, even though she did not appear as Aurora Moon.

After a few more seconds of waiting, she noticed that Alex seemed to be avoiding her gaze. Unable to bear the silence, she greeted him first.

"Mr. Graystone... Good morning," her soft, weak voice prompted Alex to glance at her.

"You don’t need to speak formally to me. Just call me Alex," he replied coldly before turning to Alvin and asking him to drive the car.

Aurora sighed quietly as she gazed at Alex’s icy expression. All the words she had prepared vanished from her mind.

Seeing Alex continue to ignore her made her feel increasingly nervous and awkward. She chose not to initiate any further conversation with him.

Following his lead, she closed her mouth tightly and gazed out the window.

As Aurora sat in silence, her mind was filled with questions about what Alex wanted to discuss with her. Why did he insist that she come this early in the morning?

The more she thought about it, the more her head spun. She took a deep breath, trying to dismiss all thoughts of Alex.

She glanced at the street ahead to distract herself and quickly realized they were heading to Stardust Tower.

Her heart tensed again at the thought of returning to that place.

Hurriedly, she turned to see him and wanted to ask a question. However, she was stunned to find him staring back at her.

Their eyes met, and all the questions she had intended to ask suddenly abandoned her.

Alex frowned, and his cold voice echoed, "Miss Spencer, you know me, right?"

His question snapped Aurora from her troubled thoughts about visiting her old workplace and possibly meeting some of her colleagues.

Aurora felt confused when she heard his question, sensing it might be a trap.

’Why is he asking again? He already mentioned his name, right? Everyone in this nation knows who he is,’ she thought, trying to think quickly and worrying that this man was testing her.

What worried her was that Alex knew Aurora Spencer idolized him. She began to scold herself inwardly. When they met for the first time, she was shocked, but she managed to hide her shock and appeared to remain calm.

As she gazed into his sharp eyes, her heart trembled slightly. After a few moments of silence, she finally asked cautiously, "Sir, I know you are Alexander Graystone and that you are my husband. Am I right?"

Calling him "my husband" sent butterflies dancing in her stomach. She felt nervous. It was hard for her to believe that, in her second life, she was still meeting him. And now, she was even his wife.

Alex briefly rubbed his eyebrow, and a faint smirk slowly appeared on his lips as he asked, "Did your father tell you about my true identity?"

"I don’t need my father to tell me about you. I already know who you are, Alex!" Aurora wanted to respond like that, but she knew she couldn’t.

Aurora could only shake her head. Before responding to him, she said, "Sir, I mentioned yesterday that my dad didn’t mention your name. I only learned your name when you called me yesterday. And..."

She paused, feeling a chill in her hand as she tried to maintain her composure. Although she couldn’t speak like her old self, she needed to act like Aurora Spencer, with a soft and graceful voice.

"And when we talked on the phone yesterday, you introduced yourself. Of course, I was surprised and assumed you were the same Alexander Graystone who often appears in the media..."

A faint smile slowly appeared on Alex’s lips, knowing the girl must realize he was the country’s richest young man under forty. However, his smile vanished instantly when he heard her following words.

"But, of course, I dismissed that thought after wondering how you could be that person. How could my dad have such a connection with you? And how could a handsome man like you agree to marry me?"

Alex’s frown deepened even more.

Aurora paused, trying to read his expression.

She continued calmly, "When I saw you earlier, I was shocked. You are indeed Alexander Graystone, the CEO of Stardust Group. Sir, why did you agree to marry me? I ask because I know my dad was just a small business owner, and I’m just a poor woman to a man with your status."

Alex’s expression returned to its earlier coldness. He turned away from her and said, "We will talk about it later." Then, he left the car as the guard outside opened the door for him.

Aurora felt an intense surge of anxiety when she saw they were already entering the underground parking area—a restricted zone accessible only to Alex and his right-hand person.

She opened the car door, grabbed her bag, and followed him to the elevator.

When they arrived on the sixtieth floor, Aurora felt her heart race as memories of working there flooded back.

They had arrived too early to meet the other employees she had worked with on that floor.

Aurora continued to follow Alex silently while her eyes focused on her office, located right next to Alex’s.

Once they reached his office, Alex paused before opening the door and turned to see Aurora standing behind him.

"I need to take care of something first. Please wait for me inside. Ah, do you want something to drink?" he asked, opening the door and gesturing for her to enter.

"No, sir..." Aurora replied.

Alex’s calm expression slowly turned frosty again. "Miss Spencer, just call me Alex," he said, leaving without waiting for Aurora’s response.
