Chapter 510: 498 Chapter National TreasureI Chapter 510: 498 Chapter National TreasureI Lu Hongjun found the key to Box No. 4 and slowly opened the box.

As the box opened, Lu Jiaxin’s eyes went wide at the sight of the contents–the green ground famille rose lay inside, its colors vibrant and the pattern exquisitely beautiful.

Seeing her gaze fixed upon the green ground famille rose, Lu Hongjun asked with a smile, “What do you think? Is it better than the one Su Heyuan bought?”

Snapping back to reality, Lu Jiaxin replied, “I haven’t gone back, so I don’t know what his famille rose looks like. Stop keeping me in suspense and open the rest of the boxes.”

If the first box contained something this appealing, the other five boxes should be just as impressive.

The second box held a Ding kiln white pomelo fish pattern carved official character style Hua Jiao; the third contained an Official kiln powder blue brother glaze apricot Yuan pierced-eared Zun; the fourth was a Copper coin patterned three-legged Cauldron.

The fifth box revealed a piece of Jadeite cabbage. While she could contain her excitement at the sight of the first four antiques, the Jadeite cabbage enthralled her.

Lu Jiaxin had visited the Bay Island Museum, and one of the treasures there was a piece of Jadeite cabbage. This one before her bore some resemblance, carved with white jade for the stem and green for the leaves; only, it lacked the conceptual bugs and was therefore slightly inferior. Nevertheless, this piece of cabbage was carved with distinct layers, thoughtfully leaving the fei color to resemble the glow of rosy clouds, which made it look charmingly dark green.

After admiring it for a good while, Lu Jiaxin realized that the sixth box had already been opened. It contained a Child-seeking Guanyin. The Child-seeking Guanyin, at a glance, measured around 40 centimeters tall, its body snow-white, crystal clear, and flawless.

Lu Hongjun proudly said, “This Child-seeking Guanyin was carved from a single piece of Mutton-fat Jade. It took me the effort of nine bulls and two tigers to get it into my hands.”

Lu Jiaxin looked at him and asked, “You said you’re planning to give these items to Lu Shan so he could pass them on to Gou Dan and Gou Sheng from generation to generation.”

Lu Hongjun nodded and said, “Such treasures, each one could serve as a family heirloom.”

These six items, placed in a museum, each could serve as the centerpiece of its collection. Lu Jiaxin scoffed, “You’re considering passing these on to Lu Shan; do you think they live too comfortably and you want to send them off early?”

If word got out, their family would be in danger, as after all, people die for wealth as birds die for food. But in her hands, these concerns were nonexistent–no one could steal these items from her. She had already installed the world’s most advanced security system at her place.

Lu Hongjun hesitated for a moment, “I also considered this, which is why I dare not give them to Shanzi.”

Nor did he dare to give one each to Gou Dan and Gou Sheng, lest they throw another fit. He was too old to withstand such stress and preferred to endure if possible. After all, seeing the children grow up safely was what mattered most.

Touching the Jadeite cabbage, Lu Jiaxin asked, “Are these items really legally obtained? Tell me the truth now, and I’ll figure out a way to help you.”

Lu Hongjun replied, “Of course, they’re legally obtained, all exchanged with materials. If I had seized them by force, I would’ve been dealt with already.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Jiaxin knew that he must have exchanged these antiques for scarce resources back in the day. Since Lu Hongjun didn’t consider it a violation or a breach of discipline, she didn’t press the issue.

She was incredibly fond of these rare treasures and couldn’t wait to display them in her home in Hong Kong to enjoy every day.

After closing all the boxes, Lu Jiaxin said, “I will have someone bring these items to Hong Kong. If you have any requests, you can tell me now.”

Lu Hongjun indicated that he had no particular requests.

Lu Jiaxin looked skeptical, “No requests? Would you really be willing to give all these items to me?”

Lu Hongjun replied, “I suddenly felt it would only be safe to pass them down through you, not Lu Shan. That kid is too naive; he might get tricked by his dad.”

Speaking of Lu Jiazong, he was furious, “At first, I thought he was an honest man, but who would have thought he had deception in him, to adopt Shanzi without even asking me.”

Yesterday, when he went out for a meal and noticed that neither Lu Jiazong nor Second Sister-in-law Lu had come, he suddenly realized that despite the poor relationship between father and daughter, they were still one and the same.

Lu Jiaxin said, “He’s willing to adopt Shanzi because he wants to claim rightful ownership over the things in your possession, and if he knew that all those things had been given to me, he would definitely have something to say about it.”

Lu Hongjun said discontentedly, “A large three-bedroom house plus a fifty square meter storefront, what more could Lu Jiazong possibly want?”

Lu Jiaxin change the subject, “What else do you have on hand?”

“Nothing left.”

Lu Jiaxin glanced at him, his quick response clearly indicated he was hiding something, “You can give those things to Shanzi, but you must ensure they’re safe and won’t bring disaster upon him.”

“Don’t worry, they won’t.”

Lu Jiaxin didn’t continue the topic and said, “It’s getting late, you should head back.”

Lu Hongjun’s expression changed, “You’re sending me back so late at night?”

Lu Jiaxin was in a good mood now and, seeing he did not want to go back, she did not insist, “Then stay here for the night, and I’ll have someone send you back early tomorrow morning.”

“What time is your flight tomorrow? I’ll take you to the airport.”

This suggestion was rejected by Lu Jiaxin, who couldn’t be bothered to waste further words and went back to her room to sleep. Watching her back, Lu Hongjun stared at the six boxes on the table with a complex look on his face.

From Jiaxin’s behavior just now, it was apparent she liked these items, but the fact that she liked them enough to leave them out in the open rather than securely storing them was intriguing. First, it meant she simply liked them and they weren’t particularly rare; second, she believed that the residence was safe.

Thinking back, an old comrade had once told him that his daughter had grown up to be remarkable, but upon further inquiry, the comrade grew silent. Alas, he wondered just how big her business was to earn such praise. Nevertheless, as her biological father, the better she did, the more secure his old age would be.

Lu Jiaxin didn’t care what he was thinking and made a call to Nie Zhan once she got home; this time he answered. Hearing the weariness in his voice, Lu Jiaxin asked unhappily, “Did you go to the old house again today?”

Nie Zhan knew she didn’t like the people at home, but he thought honesty was needed between lovers, and beating around the bush wasn’t good, “Yes, but I’ve refused all the unreasonable requests.”

Lu Jiaxin didn’t ask about the unreasonable requests, there was no need, “If your grandfather still wants you to clean up the mess at Wan Sheng Bank, just give him back the shares of Wansheng Real Estate.”

Nie Zhan let out an amused laugh; Jiaxin was really acting like a big spender now, casually willing to give up a company valued at three billion.

Lu Jiaxin just hummed in response, “Give him the shares back, and we’ll acquire another real estate company. That way, they won’t have any reason to constantly nag at us.”

“Heyuan, don’t always indulge him. The more you indulge him, the more he’ll take advantage of you. When I was little, I always considered my dad’s feelings, even enduring grievances, but what was the result? He was only concerned about his new wife and stepdaughter, never about my feelings. When I stopped fawning over him, he no longer dared to act up.”

“By the way, he gave me his last collection today, six antiques in total. You’ll definitely like them once they’re brought back to Hong Kong.”

Nie Zhan knew she had very discerning tastes; if she was this excited, the antiques must certainly be of national treasure caliber.
