If the Huang family took good care of Lu Hongjun, there wouldn’t be a need to bother Lu Jiaguang and Lu Jiazong anymore.

Tang Sufen shivered and quickly replied, “You can rest assured on that matter, I will definitely take great care of your father should anything happen to him.”

Lu Jiaxin just listened to these words without taking them to heart, but still, the warning had to be given, “I’m done talking; you can leave now.”

Seeing Tang Sufen not moving, Qian Xiaoxiao said, “If you don’t leave now, I’ll throw you out.”

Tang Sufen left in a sorry state.

Qian Xiaoxiao was puzzled. “Sister Xin, what was that woman here for?”

“She came to probe, to see if it was possible to reconcile with our father and daughter. If reconciliation was possible, I would already be living in a big hotel and certainly have money, and then her and her sons could benefit from it. If not, she wouldn’t lose anything.”

After returning, Tang Sufen did not tell Lu Hongjun about her visit to the big hotel to see Lu Jiaxin. This encounter made her realize that Lu Jiaxin was not as easy to deceive as she had imagined.

Seeing her dejected, Lu Hongjun took out the keys to the house and said, “Tomorrow, I’ll take you to see the house.”

Immediately, Tang Sufen’s mood improved. Once they moved to the new house, the current house would be left for the second son and his future wife. She dared not think about the Chaoyang house anymore; that girl was too formidable. But with the oldest and second sons both having houses, after the second son marries next year, she would only need to worry about the youngest son.

The next day, the two of them went to the new house early in the morning.

Upon seeing the spacious courtyard, Tang Sufen was so delighted she could hardly close her mouth. “Old Lu, with such a big courtyard, we can plant some flowers, and when they bloom in the summer, the colorful view will cheer up anyone.”

Lu Hongjun smiled in agreement.

After inspecting the house inside and out, Tang Sufen was very satisfied. The four rooms were not only spacious but also well-lit, the master bedroom even had an en-suite bathroom, and the kitchen was large. The family building was nice, but it couldn’t compare to this place.

Lu Hongjun also liked it very much and planned to move in once spring arrived.

Excited, Tang Sufen said, “Old Lu, let’s move here and celebrate the new year!”

Although the family building was more spacious than where she had lived before, the problem was that the women in the family compound were too gossipy, and she didn’t know how many rumors they had spread about her behind her back. She didn’t like being the subject of gossip and wanted to move out soon.

Lu Hongjun didn’t agree and said, “Only our residence within this property has furniture; the other three rooms don’t have any. We’d need to buy beds and furniture, and we also need to get kitchen supplies. The New Year is only half a month away; it’s too rushed to move now.”

Upon hearing about the New Year, Tang Sufen couldn’t help but say, “Old Lu, Jiaxin can stay in a nice hotel now, but over the New Year period, she surely can’t be expected to stay in a hotel…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Lu Hongjun interrupted, “She won’t be spending the New Year in a hotel. She’ll be returning home in the next couple of days.”

“She’s returning to Hong Kong so soon?”

Lu Hongjun explained that Lu Jiaxin came back this time just to handle the house matters, and now that it’s settled, she definitely needs to go back: “Madam Gu doesn’t have any children; Jiaxin has to go back and spend the New Year with her.”

Tang Sufen felt that Lu Jiaxin was really fortunate to have landed such wealth.

Lu Hongjun asked, “Sufen, should we have someone come in to make the furniture, or should we just buy it from a store?”

Tang Sufen, always economical, replied, “Buying it straight from the store is too expensive, and after they’ve painted it, you have no idea whether the wood is actually what they claim it is. It’s more reassuring to buy the wood ourselves and have a master craftsman make it.”

“That way, it will take more time, though.”

Smiling, Tang Sufen said, “Let’s get the beds made first; it’s okay if the wardrobes and desks and chairs come later.”

The two of them discussed enthusiastically for a long time before they realized it was getting late and prepared to leave. As they were locking the door, they surprisingly ran into Lu An. With him was a middle-aged man in his forties.

Although Lu An was dissatisfied with the way Lu Hongjun treated Lu Jiaxin, as an elder he still had to greet him properly, “Third Granduncle, you came to look at the house too.”

Tang Sufen knew the names of everyone in the Lu Family but had only met Lu Shan and Xiao Qiu. She hadn’t met the others mainly because Lu Jiaguang and Wang Xiaojie didn’t like her and didn’t want the kids interacting with her. However, all the Lu family members resembled each other, so by looking at their faces, she could tell they were from the Lu Family. But whether it was the eldest, Lu Ping, or the second child, Lu An, she wasn’t certain.

Lu Hongjun found today to be quite an inconvenient coincidence, wondering how he happened to run into this child, “Sufen, this is Lu An. Lu An, this is your Third Grandma.”

Lu An nodded and said, “No, I’m here to take Master Chen to measure up. We’re planning to move here after the spring starts next year, so we need to make beds, wardrobes, and desks.”

The family compound houses were small; barely enough room for a small desk after fitting bunk beds. The siblings had to take turns doing their homework, or when they couldn’t wait, move to the living area. Now with a more spacious house, all four kids could have separate rooms, thus beds and desks were essential.

Tang Sufen wasn’t surprised, as the house of Lu Jiaguang wasn’t much larger than her own, and with so many people, it was definitely cramped. Now with a bigger house, they were surely eager to move in. Out of curiosity about the size of Lu Jiaguang’s house, she suggested, “Old Lu, let’s go and take a look too!”

Lu Hongjun was somewhat annoyed; he knew he couldn’t keep the matter a secret and had planned to discuss it after the New Year. Had he known that Lu An was coming today with a craftsman to take measurements, he would have chosen a different day to come.
