Chapter 363 - Chapter 363 Chapter 352 Tang Sufen
Chapter 363: Chapter 352 Tang Sufen Chapter 363: Chapter 352 Tang Sufen Lu Jiaxin had lunch at the Xie family’s home. After the meal, Old Master Xie went to the back yard to walk and digest his food, while Xie Kaixiao invited Lu Jiaxin to the study.
Once in the study, Xie Kaixiao asked, “Why did you choose to make an anonymous donation this time?”
Lu Jiaxin hadn’t publicized her previous two donations, but those who needed to know were aware; this time, however, she clearly didn’t want outsiders to know about it.
Lu Jiaxin did not explain but said, “There is no particular reason. Uncle Xie, can you do it or not? If it’s not possible, just disregard what I said earlier.”
How could Xie Kaixiao possibly refuse to accept foreign currency donations? He nodded to reassure that the matter would be kept confidential, “Jiaxin, all of Madam Gu’s assets were taken by He Zhuliang. Where did you get so much money?”
Lu Jiaxin was satisfied, it seemed Su Heyuan hadn’t told the Xie couple about her situation, “I earned it myself. As for how I earned it, that’s personal privacy and I can’t disclose it.”
Xie Kaixiao immediately switched the topic, chatting with her about economic issues. With more than half a year of systematic professional learning, as well as Nie Zhan’s guidance, he could contribute to the conversation.
They talked back and forth for over two hours. By the time they left the study, it was already past three o’clock. Lu Jiaxin was very sleepy and said she wanted to go back to the hotel to rest.
Su Hongying promptly said, “Jiaxin, let me drive you.”
“Okay.”
Once outside, Su Hongying looked around and, seeing no one else, said, “I heard before that Heyuan had a girlfriend, but for some reason they broke up. Jiaxin, have you met that young lady?”
This was Su Heyuan’s privacy, and it wouldn’t affect him since they had already broken up. Lu Jiaxin said she had met Ye Xin but had only exchanged a few words with her and didn’t know her well, “Aunt Su, if you want to know about it, it’s simple. Just call Brother Yuan directly.”
Su Hongying shook her head, indicating that even if she asked, he wouldn’t tell her. Before, he would discuss matters with her, but ever since he went to Hong Kong, he had stopped sharing, only reporting the good and hiding the troubles.
Lu Jiaxin reiterated that she really didn’t know about it, “Aunt Su, as you said, he’s already broken up with that lady. Asking about it now is pointless. If you want him to marry soon, you could find someone to introduce him to. Big Brother Su is very pragmatic; as long as the woman can help him in his career, there’s a high likelihood it will work out.”
Su Hongying found these words rather bitter to hear, “Marriage is about two people who love each other naturally coming together, not a transaction. Jiaxin, don’t let his influence change your view.”
Indeed, when she married Xie Kaixiao, she was indeed looking for someone to protect herself and her family, but she also genuinely liked him before marrying.
Unable to change her nephew’s perspective, she hoped Lu Jiaxin wouldn’t marry just for the sake of profit.
Lu Jiaxin was initially surprised, then she understood and laughed, “Aunt Su, I’m with Nie Zhan because I like him. He feels the same; from the beginning, he pursued me with the intention of marriage.”
“You’re still young; the future is unpredictable,” said Su Hongying.
Lu Jiaxin thought this was even less of a problem. If they were to part ways in the future, then they could just wish each other well. As for staying friends after a breakup, she disagreed. She believed that ex-lovers couldn’t be friends, unless they had never truly loved each other.
As soon as she got in the car, Lu Jiaxin began to doze off.
Su Hongying watched the taxi drive away, muttering to herself, “I wonder if going to Hong Kong is really a good thing for you?”
When Lu Jiaxin returned to the hotel, she went straight to bed. When she woke up, Qian Xiaoxiao told her someone wanted to meet her. She actually wanted to send the person away, but remembered what Gu Wenfeng had said and did not do so.
“Who?”
“The woman your dad is married to now, surnamed Tang.”
“What does she want?”
Qian Xiaoxiao indicated she didn’t know, “She’s been waiting in the lobby on the first floor. Sister Xin, if you don’t want to see her, I can go send her away right now.”
“Is she alone, or did she come with my dad?”
Hearing that Tang Sufen was alone, Lu Jiaxin nodded and said, “Bring her up then!”
After a while, Qian Xiaoxiao led the person up. The woman who entered was dressed in a water-red cotton-padded coat, with a fair and lovely appearance, white and supple skin, hardly any wrinkles, looking about thirty-five or thirty-six years old.
In this era, a widow in her forties who had raised five children for five or six years and still maintained such a good appearance was extraordinary.
Upon entering the room, Tang Sufen saw a young and beautiful girl sitting in a chair reading a book. She immediately showed a cordial smile, walked forward a few steps, and said, “Jiaxin, I am your Aunt Tang…”
Lu Jiaxin leaned back in her chair and cut her off without any expression on her face, “If you have something to say, just say it. My time is very precious.”
Tang Sufen said earnestly, “Jiaxin, I know you have some misunderstandings with your dad. Blood is thicker than water, and I am here to ask you to come back home. If you have any misunderstandings, just sit down with your dad and have a talk. Clearing up misunderstandings is all it takes.”
Lu Jiaxin looked at her, chuckled softly, and then asked, “How much money did your son spend from his engagement to his wedding? Was it your own money or was it taken from my old man’s wallet?”
Although Tang Sufen knew Lu Jiaxin would be difficult to handle before coming, she didn’t expect her to be so intractable. Tang Sufen kept her smile and said, “Jiaxin, I know your brother and sister-in-law are prejudiced against me. But I can assure you that the expenses for my son Jianshe’s wedding were all from savings I had from before.”
“Then do you dare to swear? If there is one lie, may your five children not have a good end.”
Tang Sufen finally showed a change in her expression, but she quickly controlled herself, “Jiaxin, your dad only has you for a daughter. He was previously confused and deceived by a malicious woman, but actually, you are the person he cherishes the most.”
Lu Jiaxin didn’t interrupt her.
Tang Sufen continued, “After I married your dad, he would often talk to me about you. He would say how you liked to ride him like a horse when you were young, enjoyed visiting the zoo and the park, and also loved ice skating in Shichahai… Jiaxin, your dad really misses you, sometimes so much that he can’t even sleep.”
“Jiaxin, I hope you can forgive your dad’s momentary confusion and give him a chance to correct his mistakes and make amends. After all, he is your dad, and he’s not getting any younger. His health isn’t great either. If you don’t forgive him now, it might be too late for regrets in the future.”
If it were the original person, maybe she would have forgiven him after such heartfelt persuasion. Unfortunately, the original person is no more, so forgiveness is out of the question.
Lu Jiaxin said with a smile, “You’re trying so hard to reconcile us because you know my aunt has a fortune worth millions, and you know I donated several million Hong Kong Dollars without blinking an eye, right? Therefore, my dad’s pension is no longer satisfying enough for you.”
Tang Sufen’s face changed slightly, “Jiaxin, how can you think like that? I married him because he’s a good man.”
Lu Jiaxin sneered, “You could just say you were after his big house and substantial pension, and I wouldn’t look down on you, because who doesn’t love a big house and money? But to say you were after his goodness? Him, being such a heartless man, and you say you’re after his goodness? That joke could make me laugh for a year.”
