Chapter 114: Journey

The news of Yuhan’s recommendation and invitation from the Soaring Dragon Sect spread quickly, reaching the ears of every villager.

Overnight, Yuhan became the talk of the village.

A young man with no Martial Core receiving an official summons to take the entrance test for outer discipleship? It was unheard of.

How could someone without a Martial Core even dream of becoming a Martial Warrior?

And yet, one person dared to chase the impossible.

So, the entire village gathered to bid farewell to the young man who defied fate.

Igaris and Elder Hao stood together at the edge of the village, ready to set off on the journey to the Soaring Dragon Sect.

Among the crowd, Xiao Mei looked stunned. Her eyes were filled with joy, but also sadness.

"Yuhan gege, please come back often, like Bai gege does. Otherwise, Xiao Mei will feel very lonely..." she said softly, her voice trembling with emotion.

Igaris nodded gently and patted her head — just like the real Yuhan used to do.

"I will, Xiao Mei. I promise. But... where’s Bai Long? Did he leave already?" he asked, curious.

It was not Xiao Mei who answered, but an elderly woman nearby.

"Xiao Han, that child left last night for an important sect mission. Otherwise, he would’ve gone with you himself."

"I see... no worries, Aunt. I’ll catch up with him at the sect."

Just then, a scoffing voice interrupted the warm moment.

"Hmph. So this trash really thinks he can pass the test? What a joke. Just because you got invited doesn’t mean anything. Plenty have been summoned before, and most ended up failing. Some even became outer disciple servants. Your fate won’t be any different."

The voice belonged to a boy slightly younger than Yuhan, wearing garishly expensive clothes and flanked by two smug servants.

It was none other than Ren Tao, the Village Chief’s arrogant son.

Beside him stood Ciao — the very servant Igaris had humiliated the day before.

Ciao’s usual arrogance had been overshadowed by veil of shame.

Igaris didn’t respond immediately. He merely stared at Ren Tao with an indifferent gaze, as if the boy’s taunts were too insignificant to acknowledge.

Ren Tao’s expression twisted. He was used to Yuhan being silent out of fear, but this silence was different. There was no panic, no inferiority. Just calm disdain.

"What? Too scared to talk back now?" Ren Tao sneered. "Don’t think catching a single fish or fooling a few elders makes you anything special. I’ve already sent word to my cousin in the Soaring Dragon Sect. Let’s see how far your act lasts once he meets you there."

Elder Hao stepped forward and glared at Ren Tao. "That’s enough, boy. The Sect tests everyone fairly. Connections won’t help you if you don’t have the strength."

Ren Tao scoffed. "We’ll see."

Igaris finally spoke, his voice composed and sharp. "I don’t care about your cousin, your father, or your mouth. From now on, I will decide my own destiny. I will be the strongest Martial Warrior."

Ren Tao’s smug look cracked slightly, but he masked it with a laugh and turned away. "Hmph. Let’s see how long that pride lasts."

As the crowd murmured, Elder Hao gestured to the carriage waiting at the village’s edge.

"Let’s go, Yuhan. We shouldn’t waste any more time."

Igaris nodded. Before stepping into the carriage, he looked one last time at the village he had temporarily come to know. Xiao Mei stood clutching a handkerchief, her teary eyes fixed on him. Old Lin waved slowly from his porch. A few children shouted well-wishes, still amazed that "Brother Yuhan" was going to a Martial Sect.

He gave them all a soft smile, then stepped inside.

The wheels began to roll.

And the journey to the Soaring Dragon Sect, and a new Chapter in Igaris’s rise had begun.

A few hours later, on the road...

The carriage rolled through winding forest paths. Elder Hao sat with his arms crossed, eyes closed in meditation, but Igaris kept watch.

He was sensing the flow of Qi in the area, observing how it pulsed and moved in nature.

"This world... Even the air feels denser in energy than Ashvale." he murmured to himself.

It was true. This world had a stronger spiritual energy concentration, especially near cultivation zones like Sects. If he could somehow absorb them like he did with Spirit Stones, then perhaps he could grow stronger.

Zzzt

Suddenly, a flicker of warning passed through his [ Six Directional Senses ].

He turned his gaze sharply to the forest to the right of the path.

There was movement.

Bandits? Or something else?

Elder Hao opened his eyes at the same moment, as if sensing the danger too.

"Prepare yourself, Yuhan." he said. "We’re not alone."

From the shadows, a dozen figures stepped out. The wore masks, cloaked in black, and armed with long sabers.

Their appearance was enough to terrorize any ordinary soul.

"Hand over your valuables and we will let you pass in one piece," one of the bandits hissed, pointing a curved saber.

Igaris braced himself for battle, but Elder Hao laughed aloud.

"Haha! So you’re from the Saberfang Bandit Group?"

He stepped forward confidently. "Inform your leader, Huo, that Elder Hao of the Soaring Dragon Sect is here. He should know the fate of anyone who crosses me—death."

The bandits did not flinch. One of them sneered, "Old man is long in the grave. Huo is dead. We have a new leader now."

"Really?" Elder Hao’s brow rose. "Huo is dead? Since when?"

"It is none of your business, old coot," the bandit spat. "We know you’re weak and cannot stop us. Hand over your valuables. As a former elder of the Soaring Dragon Sect, you must possess a few Beast Cores. Give them all to us!"

At the mention of Beast Cores, greed sparked in every bandit’s eyes.

Igaris took note. If they coveted Beast Cores so fiercely, those cores must hold enormous value in this world.
