Chapter 101: Shirley

Stargaze City, 11:00 AM.

The city stretched along the sparkling shores of Havana, a glimmering ribbon between sea and land. From a distance, Stargaze appeared peaceful. A tranquil city painted with blue skies, white buildings, and the soft hush of coastal winds.

Vehicles moved along sleek roads in a steady rhythm. It was a place that seemed untouched by urgency.

Among the slow stream of incoming traffic, one particular car stood out. It wasn’t flashy or new. In fact, it looked like a relic from another age. A rusted, boxy vehicle that rumbled as it crawled forward. Inside sat Igaris and his loyal butler, Jeffrey.

Three days of travel had brought them here. Most of the time was spent dealing with the quirks of the old car. But they made it.

Jeffrey drove with care, while Igaris sat in the passenger seat, quietly watching the world pass by.

Throughout the journey, they had seen more than just peaceful roads. Skirmishes broke out across rooftops and open fields. Lights and elemental bursts lit the sky in passing flashes. These were World Divers. People who had discovered their Path and didn’t hesitate to flaunt it.

But Igaris didn’t pay them any attention.

He had no interest in random battles or unnecessary displays of strength. He had seen too much to waste his energy on empty fights. His focus was on something deeper.

"Master Igaris," Jeffrey spoke gently, glancing at him through the mirror. "We’ll arrive in twenty minutes. Should we go straight to your Aunt’s house?"

Igaris remained quiet for a moment. His eyes were fixed on a group of Divers sparring in the distance. Their energy crackled against the sky.

"No," he finally said. "Take me to the port. I want to see the ocean first."

His voice was quiet.

Jeffrey nodded and adjusted their course.

As the sun shone brighter into the sea, the waves began to shimmer with golden light. The ocean remained silent and vast. Calm on the surface, yet holding depths that few could ever truly understand.

Just like the boy in the car.

However, something unexpected happened on the way.

An accident.

Not with their car, but with two expensive-looking vehicles ahead of them, blocking the middle of the street. A small collision between the front and rear had brought traffic to a halt.

"Jeffrey, aren’t there any other way?"

"Ah, There is none, Master."

Clicking his tongue, Igaris watched from the window in silence.

From the rear car, a beautiful young woman stepped out. She wore luxurious jewelry and fine ornaments, but blood was trickling down from a cut on her forehead.

"Hey, dickhead driver! Why the hell did you stop so abruptly? You nearly got us killed there!" she shouted, stomping forward angrily.

Three other young women followed behind her, each one dressed in similarly flashy fashion.

"You idiot! Do you even know how to drive?" one of her friends spat, her voice full of disdain.

Another girl pulled on the angry one’s arm, whispering nervously, "Shirley, that guy looks scary. Let’s just leave, okay?"

"Huh? Why, Maeve? Why should we leave when he’s the one in the wrong?" Shirley snapped, clutching her bleeding head.

"Haha... she’s right, babe. You better start moving if you want to stay in one piece," cackled the scar-faced man with a lewd grin. "I can drive however I want. It was you who slammed into my car, so you should be apologizing."

"Nonsense! You think you can scare me, you ugly hoodlum?" Shirley snapped, raising her delicate fist defiantly.

Everyone watching the scene held their breath.

Is this girl insane? That thought echoed through the minds of bystanders.

She didn’t look like one of those World Divers, yet here she was, openly challenging someone like him.

Even her friends froze in place, unsure whether to intervene or flee.

But Igaris could see what other couldn’t. The Architect Eyes to be exact.

There’s was faint traces of supernatural force in her body. And ahem he didn’t have any perverted intention by checking her.

"Bang!"

The young woman shattered the car window with a single punch.

The hoodlum barely had time to react before she pummeled him into a bruised mess on the pavement.

The crowd stood frozen, stunned by the sudden display of raw strength.

"Damn... can those delicate hands really carry that much power?"

"I thought she wasn’t a World Diver. She hid her aura so well!"

"Looks like she’s not some pampered princess after all."

Even her own friends were gaping in disbelief.

"Shirley... is a World Diver?" one of them whispered in shock.

Inside the old car, Butler Jeffrey’s eyes widened as he watched the scene unfold.

He turned toward Igaris and said,

"Young master, that’s your aunt’s eldest daughter. Shirley. I saw her recent photo, so I’m sure of it."

Igaris raised an eyebrow, visibly surprised.

"Hmm... now that you say it, she does look like that skinny girl from back then. Though her fashion sense definitely took a turn."

Jeffrey chuckled.

"Time changes everyone, young master. But I’m not surprised you didn’t recognize her. She used to be so small and sickly back then."

Then his tone grew a little more serious.

"Either way, you should go and help her."

"Help her?" Igaris blinked, looking outside again where Shirley was still pounding the hoodlum without mercy.

"I don’t think she needs any help, Jeffrey. She’s got it under control."

"No. Look there. More of those ugly men are gathering to help him!"

He looked.

Just as Jeffrey warned, a group of rough-looking thugs came rushing onto the street, weapons in hand.

Shirley’s friends, who had once stood by her, were already scattering, screaming as they ran in fear.

One of the newcomers raised a handgun and pointed it directly at Shirley.

Shirley froze. Her fists, bloodied from earlier, trembled at her sides. But it wasn’t her blood.

Panic flashed in her eyes. She turned slightly, searching for her friends—but none remained. No one stood beside her.

"Don’t move, girl," the man said, sneering. "Or I’ll shoot without mercy."

"Cough... What are you waiting for, brother? Shoot her!" the beaten hoodlum croaked from the ground, blood dribbling from his swollen face. "She broke my nose... my face..."

Bang!

The gun fired.

A sharp crack split the air. The muzzle flared with fire. The bullet tore forward at breakneck speed, aiming straight for Shirley’s heart.

Her eyes widened in shock. In that moment, her heart slowed. Her body froze.

She knew she couldn’t dodge. It was too close. Too fast.

A flash of regret crossed her mind.

This was all because she acted on impulse.

Death seemed inevitable.

But then—
