Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster -
Chapter 238: Found Out
Chapter 238: Found Out
Rael held back a sigh.
It seemed like Solenne’s elaborate plan was to establish a multiversal intelligence guild by using the players as pawns.
Solenne did mention something about soul damage accumulating the more you died in your Spiritual body, and Rael was someone who had died a lot during his many years of playing Sketa Online.
Whether it was to get back to a city faster or explore some ancient ruins, he always took risks, died, came back, and tried again.
He did feel like he had a lot of brain fog while playing, but he wrote it off as lacking sleep and nutrition.
But I guess that’s not it, is it? Rael mused. In reality, my soul was being damaged… It’s probably why my memory of certain events is so messed up…
That wasn’t all, as Rael realized one more crucial detail.
Alcetas, Jashin, and the other Seats descended to find one individual in particular.
Because of what Solenne said, it became clearer to him that the man they were after had likely come from the Depths, which was why they were so determined to locate him.
If they do find him, then they’d get a lead on the Depths… but… it just so happens that before these people descended, the Depths were closed off to outsiders.
Basically, it was a ‘fend for yourself’ situation.
But the reason why he went back in time, became an Outer, and the rest was still a giant mystery.
Even so, he had gained a goal for the time being.
Find the man they were looking for before they do. Then either kill him on the spot or send him back to the Depths.
Yet the more he thought about it, the more the problem grew. He had given a few players access to the Depths, which meant that in less than four months, the Blazing Sun faction would have made their way into the Depths through the players.
This shit is starting to get out of hand—
“Vice-Captain Tyrel?” Solenne called out, their brow furrowing. “You seem a little off today, is everything alright?”
Rael felt like he’d been caught with his pants down, but he kept his composure anyway.
“My apologies, First Light.” Rael bowed. “Your announcement shocked me so much that I seem to have lost my composure.”
The moment Rael uttered those words, everyone present turned to him, their gazes containing clear suspicion.
…Did I stutter?
“Hmm… you lost your composure, you say?” Solenne muttered as a faint black smile manifested itself on their completely white face. “That’s a bit surprising, considering you were the one who came to me with the initial idea of Project Sketa. Say… Tyrel, are you surprised because I went through with the plan, or…”
Solenne approached, stopping right in front of Rael.
“Or is it because you’re not really Tyrel?”
<Ding!>
As the last of the pop-ups fell, Rael noticed the space around them froze.
It was as if time itself had been stopped, and this was the exact same scenario that transpired in the vision he saw.
Seeing this, Rael gave up the act and rose to face Solenne.
“Hey.” Rael waved with a smile. “I guess cat’s out of the bag now.”
“That it is,” Solenne replied with a chuckle. “Though I commend you for getting this far. I didn’t expect the Fifth Seat to slip up like that… Rael Sutekh? Or should I call you…”
Solenne tilted their head. “I can’t recall your previous name? Why is that?”
“Beats me.” Rael shrugged. “So what now? Do we shake hands and walk away?”
“Pfft… Nope,” Solenne said flatly. “Let’s see… your mind is—”
<Ding!>
<Mindweaver’s Gift activated!>
“Hmm… that is really strange,” Solenne mumbled. “Are you the one we’ve been looking for? No… I know for sure there’s another.”
Rael let Solenne ponder out loud, and in the meantime, he tried his best to cancel the skill and finally leave this place.
But despite all that, it seemed like his status screen was bugging out, as he couldn’t even see it properly anymore. It was just flickering in a blue light.
Even so, Solenne seemed to come to a conclusion as they leaned in, a ghastly smile appearing on their face.
“Say… I just saw a log. What does ‘Rael Sutekh, The Platinum Overlord, has obtained the key to the Depths’ mean? Is it a pocket dimension? Or is it maybe the dimension we’re searching for? Hmm… I have an offer for you, Rael.”
Rael nodded in silence as the offer followed shortly after.
“I had initially planned to recruit you, but that’s no longer my main concern. Give me access to the Depths, and I promise to spare you. There is no negotiation, so you either take that offer now or I’ll dispose of your soul this instant and use your body as my very own avatar.”
Solenne’s smirk grew. “And I have just the perfect ability to deal with Outers such as yourself.”
As Solenne finished speaking, a headache assaulted Rael, causing his knees to falter as he fell to the ground, dazed.
Following that, a few pop-ups hovered in front of him, making his eyes narrow.
<Ding!>

“I guess I did give you a bit of a timer, enjoy it while it lasts.” Solenne chuckled sadistically. “Your loyalty to whoever dwells on the other side seems unwavering. I respect that.”

<00:06>
“But the more you delay the inevitable, the worse the consequences will be,” Solenne added. “So make up your mind, or you will never see your—”
“Shut up,” Rael interjected with a sigh. “You sound like a broken record. Just fuck off already with these stupid mind games.”
“Oh?” Solenne tilted their head. “And what makes you so certain these are mind games?”
Rael scoffed.
Ever since hearing the prophecy, he had tried doing things slightly differently. But this scenario? He would have done the same thing regardless of which path he took.
So he simply raised his middle finger at Solenne and flashed his usual grin.
“See you in a bit, Solenne.”
With those final words, the two fell silent, watching as the countdown ticked down.
