Chapter 30: Snap Out Of It Raven!
Damn! Snap out of it Raven! Snap out of it! Raven thought inwardly, blushing despite herself. Girl, he’s one of the villains! He’s one of the predators who took away your dignity and family! You can’t be lusting for him! But damn! He’s so...so... so goddamn hot! Just look at those abs! That v-line abs! So smexy! So well-defined! So... so yummy! I could just gobble him up!
I mean, come oooonnn! Just look at this dude! It’s a sin for a dude to be this hot! And when did he get so handsome! His hard, groggy eyes and disheveled hair give him that rugged bad boy look! Snap out of it Raven! I can’t have myself falling for him the way I had fallen for Felipe! They’re the ones to fall for me! You’re here to serve your cold revenge not lust after them for goddamn sake! But... he’s just so goddamn... hooottt!!!
"... are you fucking deaf or something!"
His voice jolted Raven back to reality. She had been so preoccupied with her fantasy thought that she had realized that he had been speaking all along!
How can she be so stupid?! She asked herself. What if he fired her here on the spot? Then having revenge on him would be so hard!
"Oh, I’m sorry Mr Hopkins." Raven said, maintaining her tiny angelic voice, "I was just so nervous that I didn’t hear you speak."
Larry’s eyes bore into hers as if reading her mind. Raven couldn’t maintain eye contact, she told herself that if she had to make this man call for her, she had to be shy and clumsy, and cute.
Just the way she had captivated Felipe Brant.
"You’re the new assistant?" He asked dubiously, his eyes evaluating whether or not she was fit to be his assistant.
"That’s right, sir," Raven answered.
"I think you’re mistaken." Larry spat, "You are not fit to be my assistant. I mean, just look at you! You’re fat, you look ridiculous! You give off clumsy vibes and I don’t like my assistants like that. Sorry, not sorry, I don’t know where Perry found you, but tell him I’ll be finding my temporary assistant myself."
Raven sniffed, pretending she was hurt by Larry’s harsh words.
Fuck you! Raven thought, you haven’t changed a bit, just like your dead sister, except that you’ve gotten a little... okay maybe not a little... hotter than I remember.
"I think you’re projecting Sir." Raven said shyly in a respectful manner, "You don’t even know me. You just judged me based on your opinion of me. Why don’t you give me a chance, sir, to prove that I’m worth being your assistant? Just today, test me, my skills, my intellect and if you don’t think I’m worthy, then I’ll leave."
Larry stared at the plump red-haired in front of him. She had just stood up to herself, and her tone was shy yet imposing. And Larry couldn’t help but like it.
"Okay, we’ll see about that," Larry said, accepting the challenge. "But remember, I don’t give second chances. And working under me comes with is not for the faint of the heart. Got it?"
Raven nodded swiftly, glad that he had taken the bait.
"Come in." He said and went back into the house.
Raven came inside and shut the door.
She stared around the quiet magnificent mansion. It was so eerily quiet.
Wasn’t there a maid here? Raven asked herself.
"Yes, there’s no maid," Larry answered, as though he had read her mind.
Raven flushed. How the fuck did he know that?!!
"As a matter of fact, I fired all the maids that used to work here." Larry continued.
"May I ask why sir?"
"Well, yes." Larry replied, his eyes hardening, "A bitch disguised herself as a maid and went into my sister’s house, she seduced her stupid husband and then murdered her. I suppose you’ve heard the news."
Raven gasped in feigned shock, her hand moving to her widened mouth, "Oh no! That’s terrible!"
"It is!"
"I’m so sorry, Mr Hopkins," Raven said apologetically feigning a sad face.
"There’s no need because I’m going to find that bitch. I’ll search for every corner of the earth if I have to." Larry said, his eyes glinting murderously, "And when I do, I’ll bring her head to my sister, as a farewell gift."
Raven smiled inwardly. Well, not if she gets to you first.
The middle-aged woman came down the stairs.
"Ali," Larry said to the woman, "This Is... I’m sorry, what was your name again?"
"Holly." Raven answered, adjusting her spectacles, "Holly Pringle."
"Yes, Holly," Larry repeated, "As you already know, Perry won’t be here for a while; this is his temporary replacement; after testing her today, I’ll let you know whether or not she will be my assistant. Fix her a drink or something, I’m gonna get ready."
"Yes sir."
And then with that, Larry walked up the stairs.
Phew! Raven sighed inwardly I’m relief. Please go put a shirt on, how am I gonna get revenge on you if you’re that hot?!
"Hello, Holly." Ali said, her eyes doing a quick glance over at Raven, "As you already know, I’m Ali. I manage this whole house," she gestured to the mansion, "I’m the only one that’s allowed to step into every part of the room. That’s to show how important I am to Mr Hopkins."
Was this old lady seriously bragging to her right now? Raven thought in disgust. What was she to do with this information? To scare her off in case she takes a romantic interest in Larry Hopkins?
Raven resisted rolling her eyes.
Before deciding that she would have her revenge, Raven had already investigated each and everyone that was connected to all of her predators, whether close friends or not.
And that was how getting into the Brant households was never a problem. That was how she knew about Abe Jenkins’ repulsive affairs with girls around her daughter’s age. That was also how she knew about Mandy, and her real name being Martha Mendoza. The same with Perry and everyone else.
She also knew about this woman standing in front of her, marking a territory that wasn’t even hers.
And she was planning to use them against her when the right time comes.
"Hello, Ali." Raven said, ignoring her stupid remarks, "Nice to meet you too."
"What will you have?" Ali asked, "Juice? Beer?"
"I’ll have nothing." Raven deadpanned, giving her a fake smile, "Thanks for the kind gesture."
Ali nodded, "You can wait for him in the living room. He’ll take quite some time in the shower." And then with that, she turned and walked away.
Raven walked into the living room and sat down. She stared around the whole place.
It was magnificent. More magnificent than that of Lara’s.
Half an hour passed, and Larry was still nowhere to be seen, and Raven was getting impatient.
Just then, she heard Larry’s footsteps trudging down the stairs.
She quickly stood up and turned around.
"Wow!" Escaped her lips as she stared at Larry.
