Chapter 29: Damn! He’s hot!

Perry paused and listened.

"I heard you took acting classes in high school," Raven said. It was more of a statement than a question.

Perry’s eyes widened, "Did you dig into my whole life?"

"Oh sweet Perry, you have no idea." Raven stood to her feet and walked up to Perry. "I know that your father didn’t just die when you were in high school."

Perry’s heart rate increased. He gulped. "What do you mean?"

Raven sauntered around Perry who was standing in the middle of the room. "Your father was an abusive asshole. He abused everyone in your family, your mom, your little siblings, and even you. Then all of a sudden, you couldn’t talk his bullshit anymore, so you .... murdered him. And when the police came, you told them that your dad had just won the lottery and you were robbed and that his death was the handiwork of the robbers. You were just seventeen then; of course, the police wouldn’t suspect you, and your mother, along with your siblings, sided with you, giving you an alibi. For someone in his teen, you were quite impressive with your deceptive and murdering skills. I respect you..."

"How much do you know?" Perry asked, his terror evident

Raven was reminding him of the atrocity he committed decades ago.

"Oh, I know plenty." Raven answered, "I know that that girl, your high school crush, what was her name again? I can’t remember, but I know that her rapist was you. You drugged her and then you raped her because she rejected you."

Perry was now getting more scared than he already was. These were the crimes he had committed decades ago and had miraculously gotten away with them.

How did this fucking bitch know all of this?!

"I also know that you set your teacher’s house on fire because she made you repeat a grade," Raven said, satisfied with herself. "I can list all of the atrocities you committed in your teen days and managed to get away with, Perry. But I won’t, if and only if, your act convinces your boss. I heard a friend of yours is a doctor, he can help you fake illness. Your boss will have no other choice but to give you two months off. You in or not?"

Perry didn’t think. There was nothing to think about anyway. This bitch had the upper hand, and they both knew it.

"Okay," He said in a hoarse voice, still rattled and perplexed that Raven knew all of this.

Was she a fucking ghost or something?

Perry was so terrified that he refused to see that the scary lady standing in front of him was the same Raven Moon that his boss was searching for.

"Good boy."

Ring ring! Ring ring!

The incessant ringing of the telephone pierced the stillness of the grand estate, shattering the silence that had settled over its vast, empty halls.

The middle-aged woman ran down the castle-like stairs to the telephone. He grabbed its receiver and answered the call. "Yes? This is Hopkins Resident."

"He... he...llo?" A weak voice came through the receiver.

"Hello, who’s this?" The woman asked.

"It’s... it’s Perry."

"Perry!" The woman exclaimed, "What happened to your voice? You don’t sound well."

"I... g, got hit by a car."

"Oh my God!" The woman gasped in shock, "Are you okay?"

"I...I will be." Perry managed to say. "Can... can I speak to Mr Hopkins?"

"Yes, of course. Please do hold on."

The woman ran up the stairs to Larry’s room.

She knew the man always enjoyed his sleep and he hated it when his sleep was interrupted.

But she had no choice but to disrupt him from his sleep. She had to let him know now that his assistant was at the hospital, or else he would blame her afterward for not letting him know in time.

She heaved a deep sigh and knocked on his brown mahogany door.

There was no response. Of course, he would still be asleep.

She tried to knock again when the door opened, startling her.

Standing at the door was groggy Larry, his hair a little disheveled, his hand rubbing his sleepy eyes. He was shirtless, looking hot as his v-line abs were completely exposed.

Even though the woman was old enough to give birth to Larry, she liked what she saw. Hot young men had always been her weakness, she loved grooming them. But she knew she stood no chance against her obnoxious boss.

"What the fuck do you want?" Larry cursed at her.

The woman cleared her throat, "Morning, Mr Hopkins..."

"What the fuck is good about this morning?" He groaned.

Looks like someone has just woken up on the wrong side of the bed. She thought. Of course, he was always grumpy and unlikeable, but today he’s more grumpier! I’m old enough to be your mother for goddamn sake! If not that the pay is good and that you’re one hot eye candy, you would have seen a side of me you never knew I had!

"Um... Sir." She said, "I’m sorry for disturbing your beauty sleep, but Mr. Kings just called; it looks like he had an accident."

"I don’t fucking care, so long as he comes to work!" Larry snarled, "Uh, Sir, I think... he won’t."

His eyes widened, "What the hell do you mean?" He asked, not out of concern but out of the thought of his assistant not coming in for work "Is it that serious?"

"I’m afraid so Sir." The woman answered, "He’s on the line waiting for you."

Larry brushed past the woman down the stairs to the telephone, he furiously grabbed the receiver.

"What the hell do you mean you won’t be coming in?" He snarled.

"M... morning, boss." Perry’s voice came through the line, "I’m... I... I’m so sorry boss, but...I don’t think I can make it... I had a car... accident."

"We’re you fucking drinking again or something!" He snarled, "I told you to stop drinking you jerk! Who’s gonna be my assistant? All the paperwork, who will take care of them?!"

"I’ve already arranged for that, Sir." Perry said, "Can you believe that when I had the accident, all I kept thinking was how you could manage without me..."

"Then, you shouldn’t have drunk!" Larry snarled.

"You’re right." Perry said weekly, "I shouldn’t have. The doctor said that I need to stay back here for two months till I fully recover."

"Two fucking months?!" Larry hissed.

"Don’t worry, Sir, my replacement is already on her way to your home." Perry said, "She has reviewed the contract and signed it, you just need to cosign. I’ll try as much as I can to recover more quickly..."

Just then the doorbell rang.

"Fuck you, Perry!" Larry slammed the telephone back on its holder and walked to the door.

He opened the door and standing before him was Raven... oh wait... except at the moment she wasn’t Raven, she was Holly Pringle, the new assistant.

Her eyes were behind the spectacles, fake freckles on her face, and her curly red hair... or wig... was tied in a ponytail, with two strands on either side of her face. She looked a little plump... thanks to the prosthetic... and dorky.

"Who the fuck are you?" Larry asked disdainfully giving her a glance over.

"Hello, Mr Hopkins," Raven said in a tiny angelic voice, "I’m Holly Pringle, Perry King’s temporary replacement. It’s such an honor to meet you."

Raven’s eyes surreptitiously glanced at Larry’s body... his tanned chest, biceps, abs, exposed v-line abs that led to his length... they were too much! Raven felt herself go hot.

Damn! He’s hot! She thought inwardly, I think this is gonna be harder than I thought!
