Chapter 22: "We finally meet... again."
Abe Jenkins sat in his office, shit scared.
He was literally trembling and he couldn’t bring himself to handle the paperwork on his desk.
He had watched the news that morning and when he had seen Raven’s picture shown on the screen, he instantly recognized her, even though the picture was taken ten years ago.
A woman like Raven was hard to forget.
It was his fault that Raven had made his way into the Brant households, but there was nothing he could have done to prevent it!
Raven held all the aces, she had manipulated and blackmailed him with the evidence of him with girls in their early stage of growth.
How had he gotten himself into this mess? He asked himself. How had he gotten on the bad side of Lara Brant?
His phone rang, startling him. He cleaned the bead of perspirations on his forehead and stared down at the screen, and not recognizing the number, he disconnected the call.
It rang again.
And he disconnected it again.
His intercom buzzed as his secretary’s voice came through. "Mr Jenkins, your wife is on the line. She said you should pick up your call."
Confused, Jenkins picked up the third call, still wondering why his wife would be calling him from an unknown number, and it was seldom that she called during office days.
"Yes, honey?"
"If you disconnect the call, I’m gonna make you regret you fat fuck!" Raven’s vicious voice came through the phone, resulting in Abe flinching backward as a little yelp escaped his mouth. "How dare you block my number!"
"You’re not my wife!" He blurted out stupidly.
"Yes, Stupid. I’m not your wife!" Raven’s snappy voice came through the phone, "Thanks to my great impersonation skills."
"What do you want?" Jenkins said in a trembling voice, "Do you want to see me go to jail? Huh? Will you be happy then? How could you stoop so low as to abduct a four-year-old girl?"
"Look who’s talking." Raven retorted, "The pot calling the kettle black."
"Look, I don’t know what games you’re playing, but... I want out! I don’t know you are neither have I seen you in my life!"
"Lara is on her way to your office right now."
Abe Jenkins straightened up, "What?"
"And she’s mad furious for that you sent me in her household." Raven said in a voice that made Jenkins break out in a cold sweat, "Who knows what she’ll do? Considering her heartless nature, she might rip out your throat from your head, or maybe she might shatter your ribs with a single blow, crush your skull beneath her heel, and carve her name into your flesh with cold precision. Oh! I know! She could twist your limbs until they snap, tear out your eyes just to watch the light fade from them, and let your last breath escape as nothing more than a whisper of agony."
Jenkins swallowed hard, "Are you trying to scare me?"
"Is it working?"
Jenkins swallowed again, "Nice try."
"But I’m not kidding though. Lara could do more than that."
"Okay, what do you want me to do?" Jenkins asked in a resigned tone.
"Good boy." Raven said, "When Lara comes, she won’t be coming alone. She’ll have company... five men to be exact."
"What?!!" Jenkins’ shirt was already soaking wet, as though he had just run a marathon. "How the hell do you know that?"
"I was once in that household before dummy. I can listen in on their conversation... technology... ever heard of that?" Raven taunted him, "So when Lara comes, his henchmen will beat you to a pulp first."
Jenkins’ heart contracted as he broke out in more sweat, "What?"
"After manhandling you, she will ask you questions about me, and you are going to tell her I live at the address I’ll be sending you."
"Why would I do that? You’ve already gotten me into enough trouble as it is." Jenkins said, "I won’t have anything to do with you. I’ll tell her you blackmailed me and there was nothing I could do."
"Do you really think she’ll believe that bullshit?"
"But it’s the truth!"
"Okay, unless you want to die then! As mad as Lara is right now, she wouldn’t care if you give her the truth or not. All she needs is answers right now and you have to provide one! Or unless you want your kids to be fatherless and your wife, a widow, go ahead and tell her I blackmailed you."
Jenkins began to see sense in Raven’s words.
Lara had just lost all her wealth; she wouldn’t care if he told her the truth or not so long as he gave her an answer.
"Okay, send the address." Jenkins said, despairingly, "But I want you to know that I hate you! I despise you! After this, I want nothing to do with you! You’re the worst piece of trash ever created in the human race! You’re such a bitch!"
"Awwn! Thanks for the compliment, Abe." Raven replied, her voice amused, "I haven’t received a compliment since... like forever. But you’re wrong... I’m not just a bitch... I’m a badass bitch! You’ll never see one like me elsewhere!"

Ding!
The elevator bell rang and swung open, revealing Lara Brant, her face deadlier than a venomous snake bite. Behind her were five burly men dressed in black.
Lara stepped out of the elevator and walked down to the receptionist, "Is Jenkins in?"
The receptionist regarded Lara, and seeing her terrifying demeanor; she instinctively knew this woman meant business. Her eyes traveled behind her to the mean-looking men; she gulped hard before nodding, pointing down the hall to her boss’s office.
Lara didn’t thank her, she walked down to Jenkins’ office and stormed in.
Jenkins, who was already expecting her, feigned surprise, rising to his feet.
"Mrs Brant... what a lovely surprise."
"Is it?"
The men dived in on him.
Lara sat comfortably at his Jenkins’ chair with her heels resting on his desk. She watched as Jenkins was being beaten mercilessly by the five men.
After a while, she commanded the men to stop.
Jenkins was now sprawling on the floor, helpless, covered in his own blood, his face, redesigned.
"Do you know your offense, Jenkins?" She asked, gracefully glancing at her fingernails.
"I’m... so...so." Jenkins stuttered, still recovering from the excruciating pain inflicted on him. "I’m terribly sorry, Mrs Brant; I really had no idea she would ever do such a thing. She had such a clean record as she made me believe her name was Lily Harper."
Lara threw her feet off the desk and stood to her feet. Then she walked up to Jenkins and crouched in front of him.
"Really?"
Abe nodded.
"You must think me a fool, Jenkins." Lara said skeptically, then grabbing his chin, she said, "Tell me the truth, did she blackmailed you?"
Jenkins’ eyes bulged out in surprise, "What... n..n..no!"
"Come on Jenkins. Tell me, unless you need another beating." Lara said slowly.
"I’m telling the truth... I swear."
"Another beating it is." Lara stood to her feet, "Boys?"
"Wait!" Jenkins said desperately, stopping the men in their tracks. "Yes, you’re right! She did blackmail me! She made me send her there. But I really didn’t want to. I’m so sorry Mrs Brant!."
"Good, that’s what I’d like to hear." Lara crouched down again, "She gave you a fake address to give me, didn’t she?"
Abe Jenkins quickly nodded but was a little surprised.
These bitches are so alike, Jenkins thought, God, after this... toxic women, goodbye! Little girls... goodbye!
"Give it to me."
Jenkins fished for his phone and quickly showed her the address Raven had sent earlier.
"Good," Lara said, rising to her feet, "Let’s go, boys."
And then, with that, Lara walked out with the five men behind her, leaving Jenkins on the floor, reeling in his own pain.
They headed down to the elevator and got in. As the elevator made to shut, a man wheeling an old woman in a wheelchair shouted, "Please hold!"
One of the men pressed the hold button.
"Thank you so much," the man said gratefully as he pushed the elderly woman’s wheelchair into the elevator
The elevator door closed and began its journey to the ground floor. All of a sudden, the elevator came to an abrupt halt, startling everyone in the elevator.
Then the lights in the elevator suspiciously went out.
Even though Lara was escorted by the five men, she couldn’t help but feel chills go down her spine, and her heart flew out of her chest as she heard the chilling words from the unmistakable voice she would recognize even in her sleep.
"Lara!... We finally meet.. again."
