Chapter 40: No One Will Remember You

Sharon’s POV—

At that moment, the cheetah or, B changed his shape into that of a lion. Unlike before, he transformed very quickly this time. He broke free and clawed me right in arm, causing me to wince in pain. I conjured 10 swords in the air and threw at him. He dodged it easily, but I gave me some time to create some distance between us.

Hiding behind a wall, I looked at my injured arm. Three huge slashes were visible in my hand. Blood was continuously flowing from these wounds. Sweat started to form in my forehead. It’s for the first time in this world that I have been hurt by something.

B, who has turned into a lion, quickly found me. Turning into the lion has increased his smelling power, which made me hiding useless. I need a plan. My two abilities are useless against him. While ’Absolute Weapon Congen’ can work if I attack him within a very significant close range, but it would also give him an opportunity to hit me.

As soon as B saw me, he roared and ran towards me. I looked around me searching for a hiding spot. Not finding any, I ran and climbed up the stairs. It was an empty hall.

Tch! I hit a dead end. Hearing a noise, I immediately turned back and saw B has already reached here.

Fuck it! The only plan I can use now is, to fight him head on. I used mana and strengthened up my hands, torso, back and legs.

B growled at me, saliva dripping from his jaws. Taking a stance, I motioned him to attack me. I mocked, "Are you hungry? You know, you look like you haven’t eaten anything from centuries. Did the bastard count never feed you?"

Just by my previous encounter with B, I can easily tell that he respects Heriedieck a lot. So, dishonouring him would really get on B’s nerves. I sighed deeply. This can go either bad or, good. If he makes a fatal mistake, in the fit of his rage... he will be giving me an opening to kill him.

Like I expected, B roared in rage. His eyes held a murderous intent in them. Unlike before, he would be more vicious and uncontrolled. He dashed and jumped on me, tackling me to the ground. If I hadn’t strengthened my back with mana then I would have been seriously hurt my back. B lowered his head, bringing us both look at each other. One had a murderous intent, and the other had a killing intent. At first glance, these two intents may appear to be same but... these two are different from each other.

B roared right above my face. All the saliva accumulated in his mouth dropped right on my face. I gagged in disgust. In retaliation, I spat at his face. This action fuelled his already existing anger. I conjured a small dagger in my left hand and waited for him to strike.

Roaring again, he tried to claw my face. Getting the much-needed opportunity, I stabbed his paw with my knife. The knife went through his hand, making my face splash with his warm blood. The pungent smell of B’s saliva and the rancid smell of blood burned my nose.

Quickly getting off me, B roared in pain. I conjured a sword in my hand and jumped on his back, thrusting the sword horizontally right through his cheeks.

B let out a muffled roar as the sword was stuck in his mouth. I wrapped my hands around his head and applied pressure on it. The sword slowly started cutting the layers of his mouth both from inside and outside. Blood gushed out from his mouth. He thrashed violently, trying to throw me out off his back.

"Don’t waste your energy. I can get off of you by myself," I got off from his back, "I don’t pity you. A man like you is undeserving of any mercy."

"You can try go back to your human form. But I would advise you against it. Think you turned back into a human... what would happen? It’s simple. Your entire face region would be cut into many parts. Your face would be looking similar to a human salad."

I walked and stood in front of him. I continued, "I am not a person who should be giving you any moral lessons but I can safely say that I am a better person than you," B tried his best to maintain his balance, "it’s the end of the road for you. All the things that you have done for Heriedieck is finally falling upon you. No one will remember you. No one would cry for you. No one would... be sad for you. Your body will lie here forever until your final bone rots. It’s what you have reaped."

I conjured a sword and raised it. B tried to take a step back but he failed miserably. Losing too much blood from his head region have made his mind cloudy.

Not able to balance anymore, he fell on his knees and gave me a pleading look.

"This look won’t work on me. Think about the times when you killed people mercilessly. They must have given you a similar pleading look. Some must have begged for their life. I am not deliverer. Yet, looking at you makes me feel angry. Bye and wait for Heriedieck since he would be joining you shortly."

Without any further talking, I cut his head off. His severed head rolled over to my feet as his remaining body laid there, releasing all the blood in it and dyeing the floor red.

I am no hero of justice. My goal was simple. To stop their plan and hogg all the credit. I don’t want my image to pummel in front of the people. I don’t know when the protagonist might attack my image, just like in the novel. Yet, I still haven’t met the protagonist. I don’t know what will happen when we each other. So, until then... I would do whatever necessary to avoid falling in his trap.
