Chapter 104: Meeting the System Again
Chapter 104: Meeting the System Again
Sharon’s POV—
I was standing in front of the temple with an intrigued look on my face. This temple looks very old. If I were to say, it would be almost more than thousand years. The temple’s architecture was of gothic style. The walls were black and white in colour. Although, the white part has changed into a dirty yellowish colour in the most of the parts. There were some steps leading into the temple, which completely looked as if someone had broken them. While the most of the temple’s exterior parts were damaged, these steps had been destroyed by a living creature.
The clouds covering the sky casted a shadow on the temple, which in turn casted a very ominous shadow on the ground.
*Caw caw* Some crows flew above the temple.
Overall, I can say this temple... is a perfect place for shooting horror movies. It really creeps out. The villagers told me that on the third day of the month’s last week, this ’messenger’ guy comes into the temple and collects the organs. Honestly, I really want to see this man. Does his conscience allow this? Hah, then again, I am not the one who should talk about morality. All the things I have done is... clearly not moral. Does that mean I will stop one day? I don’t know... I certainly don’t know. As I have said before, I am not a hero... and I don’t plan to be. What I can do is, to protect my loved ones. It sounds noble, isn’t it? But who will I protect? Maybe Kaerin, Maria, Leon, and my empire. But I want to ask this question to myself? A question which I was trying to avoid.
"Do I care about any of them? What about Kaerin and Maria? Do I really like them? No... do I love them?" I asked out loud to myself.
I closed my eyes and shook my head. No, I don’t care about them. I like them... but I don’t love them. It’s true that I like them to a certain extent but not to the point of madness. No, I am rational regarding my decision. And I will never lose it. If push comes to shove, I won’t hesitate to... use them.
As for Leon, he is my secretary. It’s his duty to serve me.
But the biggest question is... what am I doing?
First, it was to avoid being a ’cream bun,’ and then it turned to a moment of delusion. Did I lie my dream of the future before? Yes and no. I do expect that delusion to come true, but it won’t happen. I won’t let it happen. The reason? Because I know, this world is hiding too many secrets from me. One that will change everything. Also, I can never truly love them. How can I love if I don’t know anything about them? All my knowledge came from novel, and it failed. Love is a fleeting emotion. A few people can hold onto to it even after their death. But I know... I can’t. I can never be dependent on them. The system is no longer responding me. So, does it mean I no longer have to mingle with the other heroines? Perhaps, yes.
What am I doing? I am just trying to find my answers. The moment I find these answers, I will just retire. There is something compelling me find out these fucking answers. I am pretty sure whatever that is, I can’t ignore it.
My life is really very much confusing. Honestly, in the novel it sounds really easy. The protagonist upon transmigrating knew what to do. And those who didn’t... they somehow manage, getting everything go in their way at the end. Whereas, people like me... don’t know what to do.
Thinking this, I climbed up the stairs and entered the temple. The interior was in ruins much like the exterior. The walls were black in colour. Everything needed for praying had already broken down, lost themselves to the course of time. The woman said that they weren’t allowed to enter the temple. So, this means... the only person who is allowed to enter this place is the messenger. Yet, I can also this place. Is there any specific reason? Or, it’s just they never tried.
"Welcome! Sharon Charatshore or, should I say Alex?" said an unknown voice.
’Alex?’ Who the fuck is this? Suddenly, a man entered my vision. He had blonde hair with jewels attached to his hair. His clothes were so shiny that they could illuminate this entire ’excuse’ of a temple. A pair of golden eyes were looking at me with great interest. Every fibre of his body screams the word ’divine’ into my face.
"How do you know my ’past life’ name?" I looked at him with narrowed eyes.
The man faked a hurt expression. "You wound me. How did you forget me? I was with you from the moment you entered this world."
My widened in shock. I asked, "System?"
The man nodded his head and clapped his hands mockingly. "See? You do remember me."
"How? No, you... are a living person, not some machine or something."
"This is not your reaction should be. It should be more dramatic! Your eyes should be widened in horror. Despair should be written all over your face. What’s with this?! Improvise it please."
I sneered, "Fuck you! What the heck is wrong with you? You lied to me. Heck no! You used me. For what?"
The man kicked his foot like a child. He yelled, "I am the one who should be asking you questions, not you! Answer me, okay?"
I shook my head in denial. "It’s not me who’s going to answer you. You are the one who’s gonna answer my questions. And I fucking tell you, I will have my answers from you... all of my goddamn answers!"
"Oof! So hot! You really look hot when you are angry, I guess that’s why those women really like you. Hmmm... okay, entertain me. Let’s see what questions, you are going to ask me."
I asked, "Did you do something with the teleportation array? Why did I land in another continent? Was it your plan?"
