Chapter 101: You Should Never Trust Anyone, Especially Not Your Daughter

Third POV—

Aerila sat in her throne with a tensed look. She knew that her deal with Kelshin would come to bite in her ass. A human like him always turned out to be a very selfish and immoral person.

"Is this what he said to us?" asked Aerila.

The messenger nodded his head and said, "Yes, Your Majesty. He threatened our entire race."

"How daring of him!" Celle scoffed mockingly. That man was an idiot in her eyes. To threaten the entire race? He must be out of his mind.

Aerila shook her head and said, "It’s not ’daring,’ Celle. With just a few meetings with him, I could say... that human is far from an idiot. He is a madman, who knows how to get his work done."

"So, are we going to fulfil his demands?! You can’t possibly think to marry him?!" yelled Celle. Her voice was full of disbelief.

"No, I am not going to marry him. If it was before, I might have considered this as an alliance of mutual interests but now, I can’t. I have a responsibility towards ’her.’ I marked her, didn’t I?" replied Aerila.

The messenger asked, "Your Majesty, please give your message and I will relay it to him."

Aerila moved her hands over the throne’s arms. With a smirk, she said, "Tell him... he can forget about this ’alliance’ of his. Also, please tell him that I will no longer take his help or, provide any sort of help to him."

The messenger bowed his head and left the audience room.

Celle asked, "Your Majesty, do you like her?"

Aerila leaned back into her throne. She replied, "I don’t. Sharon Charatshore is a deceitful woman. She deceived into marking her. And used that to her advantage. She knowingly got marked from me, which she used as the ’pass.’ Do you think I will ever like that type of woman? No, Celle... I won’t. I will never like her."

"Then, are you going to protect her?"

"Yes, it’s my duty. She is going to marry me, isn’t she? Celle, I want you to announce Sharon as my Queen Consort. And alert my entire army to find her, will you?"

Celle’s eyes widened in disbelief. She spluttered, "A-are y-you sure a-about this?"

Aerila looked directly into her eyes. She said, "I am sure about this. She needs to be back in my realm. Didn’t she make a fool out of me? When she comes back, I will show who is the real fool. As for her face and body, it aligns with my taste. So, you don’t need to be worried about it. This is also good for our kingdom. If she becomes my wife, I will be the ’real’ emperor of Charatshore empire. As her ’husband,’ I will be the real head of the empire, whereas she will be the nominal head. A puppet. Let’s treat empire will be her dowry, shall we? A perfect revenge, if I must say. Don’t you think so, Celle?"

Admiration. She had always admired her queen for strong and bold decisions. Like always, she didn’t disappoint her this time as well. Her queen never lost her goal of getting her revenge.

"Yes, Your Majesty! I will announce this to everyone."

Taking a deep breathe, Aerila said, "As I have said before, I need you to alert the army. Also, tell them not to harm a single hair on her body. ’Escort’ her back safely. If they or, anyone did try to hurt her..." She left the rest of the sentence incomplete. Although, Celle didn’t need her to complete the sentence. Years of experience had made her to have tactic understanding with her queen. It could be said for the commander of the army as well.

"I understand, Your Majesty."

"Good. Shall we move on to next topic?"

Celle sighed, "I don’t understand why Your Majesty is giving Sheila’s words any importance. She is an insane woman. You don’t need to believe her."

"Celle, you are wrong. It’s not because I am superstitious."

"I never said anything about you being superstitious. I am sorry if Your Majesty is angry with words."

Aerila waved her off. "No, I am not angry. Celle, there is a reason... a reason for me to ponder over Sheila’s words. Years ago, she helped me in finding the first demon king’s treasure. Not only that but also, she helped me many times in my power struggle. A girl, whose parents were killed, and she was left to survive among the hungry pack of wolves... that was me, right? You know it yourself, Celle."

Those words made Celle to lower her gaze. She knew how much her queen had sacrificed to regain her throne. The throne, which should rightfully have belonged to her from the very start.

"I will apologize to her. Your Majesty, I was a bit angry before. Maybe it was because I... couldn’t vent my anger on myself... so, I found a victim."

"No need for that, Celle. She has already refused to help us," Aerila moved her hand across her thigh, "whatever it is, Sheila is terrified of that. Her words make me... fear for our future. A part of me thinks something big is going to take place in the nearby future. Something which will shake all of us."

Celle asked, "I fear your words, Your Majesty. This future, that you talk about, what will happen to all of us? Our kingdom?"

Aerila replied, "I don’t know. All I can do now is to hold everything within my arms and protect them until, this looming danger passes. At the same time, I need to find your ’controller.’ A part of me believes this person to be associated with this danger."

"This is how our plan will work. We will make a clone of her, which will obviously be controlled by us. But we need a primary controller. So, tell me... who will be the primary controller?" asked Suroralia.

"Before that, I want to ask you a simple thing. How will you make that ’supposed’ clone of hers?" asked Kaerin.

Suroralia sneered, "I am the master/owner of the tower. So, please let me do my work."

"Kaerin, this is no time to fight," said Maria.

Kaerin glared at her and pursed her lips.

Suroralia asked, "So, who’s going to be the primary controller?"

Leon raised his hand. "I will be the primary controller." He nominated himself without any prior thinking. The primary controller should be someone who knew Her Majesty’s every habit. As he was her secretary, this made her the perfect candidate to be the primary controller.

"Why?" asked Pristine.

Maria answered this question instead of Leon. She replied, "Leon is Her Majesty’s personal secretary. So, I believe he is the one who is the most eligible among us. No one is more eligible than him."

It was true. None of them knew anything about Sharon’s habits better than Leon.

"If it’s decided then, I have to go and make the clone. It will take almost a week or so," said Suroralia.

Leon nodded, "Very well, this meeting is adjourned. Everyone can go except Duke Rinkshel."

Everyone got up from their chairs and left the room quietly. They knew Leon was not happy with Duke Rinkshel’s behaviour.

As the last member left, Leon snapped his fingers and said, "Did you know why I snapped my fingers just now? My mother once said that snapping fingers may tone down your anger. Of course, it’s a myth. Yet, I want to believe this myth more than ever now. Duke Rinkshel, let us drop all our pretences and talk. Why are you trying to hinder our investigation?"

Confused, Duke Rinkshel asked, "What? Why would I ever hinder the investigation? I am helping you all, ain’t I?"

"I fear you need to rethink my question. Duke Rinkshel, I am asking you again the same question. Why are you trying to hinder our investigation?"

"I am not! How dare you! Do you think I will betray Her Majesty?! Never!" yelled Duke Rinkshel. His face was red with anger.

With a blank face, Leon asked, "Then why aren’t you cooperating in our investigation? All you are doing is to hinder us. We were just asking some questions to your daughter, weren’t we? But you... lost your temper. Even your daughter didn’t protest. Although, she somehow got angry. So, tell me... why are you helping Kelshin?"

Duke Rinkshel’s face paled in fear. His eyes were full of horror. He thought that his ears were playing a prank with him. But seeing Leon’s expressionless face, he understood that he was serious. How did he know?

"N-n-no... w-what are y-you t-talking a-about? I-I... n-never... I didn’t help him!"

Leon smirked at him. He said, "Duke Rinkshel, you should lie properly. This half-baked effort is meaningless. Although, I will give you a piece of advice. Never trust anyone, especially not your daughter."

Duke Rinkshel’s hands were like a trembling leaf. Leon continued, "Thanks to Princess Pristine, we found a valuable information. Alas! It has come to this. Hmmm... you know, I should give you another piece of advice. Duke Rinkshel, you should always keep your drawers locked."
