Chapter 24: Chapter 24 If I Knew_1
When she resigned, her boss didn’t try to retain her, nor did he dare to. The news spread quickly, and everyone in the Cosmos Group knew her true identity.
Julia Bluen found it strange how fast the news had spread. It was only later, through her friend Rachel, that she found out Glades Horne had announced her true identity in front of everyone three days ago.
Heh, he’s really something.
Without thinking about it, Julia knew just how shocked people must have been when Glades revealed her identity. No wonder Nicholas Coldwell had come to see her—he must have found out who she really was.
Stepping out of the company and looking up at the blue sky, Julia took a deep breath. Then, she turned back to glance at the Office Building behind her. As expected, she saw Nicholas Coldwell standing at the entrance, looking intently at her.
Turning her head, she walked away under the sunlight without a single backward glance.
As she left Cosmos, a prestigious Rolls-Royce was parked in the distance. The man sitting inside clenched his lips, his sharp, eagle-like eyes inscrutable, projecting a serene gaze. Seeing Julia walking toward the roadside, his lips curled up slightly, and he ordered in a low voice, "Drive."
The bodyguard-like driver immediately started the engine and quickly drove the car away.
Glades Horne leaned back in his seat, his gaze still deep and cold, exuding an extremely chilly aura. He had just been passing by when he involuntarily glanced out of the car and saw Julia being stopped by Nicholas Coldwell. He immediately ordered his bodyguard to stop the car. Sitting in the vehicle, he watched from afar, his gaze astonishingly sharp. Though he couldn’t hear their conversation, he could see the scene clearly.
The image of Julia with tears streaming down her face flashed through his mind, causing a twinge of pain in his heart. She was someone he would never dream of hurting, not even in the slightest, yet Nicholas Coldwell dared!
Pulling out his phone, he rapidly dialed a number. Once the call connected, he ordered in a low voice, "Ruiz, cut off all business dealings with the Cosmos Group!"
"Understood!"
A warm, deep voice replied from the other end of the line.
Glades Horne then hung up. A few sharp traces of coldness touched his stern face as his lips curled into a chilling smile. His cold eyes glimmered with a frosty light. Nicholas Coldwell, Dio Powell, this is just the beginning!
He wasn’t an unreasonable man, but he would absolutely not let Nicholas Coldwell off lightly for hurting Julia Bluen, whom he had always cared for. He would toy with Nicholas and the Powell Family like a cat with a mouse, slowly making them taste the pain of being hurt!
The car sped away like an arrow.
Unaware that he had once again incurred the wrath of Glades Horne, the scion of the Horne Family, Nicholas Coldwell watched Julia leave until she was out of sight. Then, he turned to walk back. The moment he turned, his face was masked with a cold gloom as he strode straight into the finance office on the second floor of the Office Building.
"Manager Coldwell, you haven’t left yet? Don’t keep Vice President Powell waiting," the Chief Financial Officer said upon seeing Nicholas Coldwell return, her tone a mix of reminder and sarcasm.
Inside the Cosmos Group, many people were aware of Nicholas Coldwell’s two-timing. Originally, everyone thought it was normal for him to abandon Julia Bluen for Diana Powell. In today’s society, many men sacrifice their love for money and ambition. Witnessing such behavior was common, and while people might feel disdain, no one dared to say anything openly.
But now, everyone knew Julia Bluen’s identity. She was the second daughter of the Bluen Family’s consortium, wealthier than three Cosmos Groups combined. Nicholas Coldwell had discarded the very God of Wealth who could have helped him climb higher. It had to be said, this was retribution for his two-timing.
It’s said that one cannot have both the fish and the bear’s paw at the same time. And Nicholas Coldwell was a living example.
"I’m aware of the time; no need for your reminder," Nicholas Coldwell retorted coolly to the Chief Financial Officer. He then strode over to Rachel Bailey, who was also a financial accountant, and ordered imperiously, "Rachel Bailey, come out with me."
In the entire company, Rachel Bailey was Julia Bluen’s closest friend. Nicholas had also kept the secret of his marriage to Diana Powell from Rachel. However, he hadn’t forgotten that on his wedding day, his wedding car had passed Rachel as she was cycling to work. She must have recognized him. Subsequently, Julia had appeared at his wedding. It had to be Rachel who tipped her off; there was no one else.
"Manager Coldwell, what do you need?" Rachel Bailey asked. After glancing at the Chief Financial Officer and receiving a look that urged her to follow Nicholas Coldwell, she reluctantly stood up and left the finance office with him.
Rachel Bailey was half a year younger than Julia Bluen. They were the same age and had rather similar personalities. Rachel had ordinary features—not particularly noteworthy—but anyone who interacted with her would remember her, thanks to her sharp tongue. However, her petite and slender figure, disregarding her face, did possess a certain allure.
Standing in the office corridor, Nicholas Coldwell glared coldly at Rachel Bailey and demanded, "Was it you who tipped Julia off that day?"
"So what if it was me?" Rachel retorted. "Men like you, who only care about wealth, deserve to be utterly humiliated in public! Well? Now that you know our Julia is the second daughter of the Bluen Family’s consortium and has close ties with the scion of the Horne Family, are you regretting it? Are your guts green with regret? Let me tell you, Nicholas Coldwell, you had it coming!" The mere mention of this infuriated Rachel Bailey.
Julia Bluen might not hold a grudge because she was magnanimous, but Rachel Bailey, coming from a more common background, was naturally less forgiving. She was furious at Nicholas Coldwell’s shamelessness.
"Just as I thought!" Nicholas Coldwell’s face turned even colder, his brow furrowing in anger at Rachel Bailey’s pointed words. He glared furiously at her, and she stared back defiantly.
"Get out!" Nicholas Coldwell barked.
"Get out?" Rachel Bailey sneered. "Manager Coldwell, I think you’re mistaken. I’m not in your Planning Department; you don’t have the authority to fire me." She had met shameless men before, but never one as shameless as Nicholas Coldwell. It was a blessing Julia hadn’t ended up with him! Did he really think that just because he was now the CEO’s son-in-law, he could fire her whenever he pleased?
