Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten -
Chapter 316: Delivering Drinks
Everyone turned to look at Little He Qing, stunned by this beautiful, youthful, and adorably dazed girl.
One of the guys, deadpan, asked,
“Hey man, who’s this girl? Is she your little sister or something?”
Lin Zhengran smiled and replied,
“Look at us—we don’t look anything alike. Of course she’s not my sister.”
Before he even finished speaking, Jiang Xueli appeared, skipping over with her golden twin ponytails bouncing. She had one hand behind her back as she called out,
“Where’s Han Wenwen and He Qing? Where did she run off to just now?”
Little He Qing held up the milk tea in her hands.
“She said she went to the restroom. She’ll be right back.”
“Alright then.”Jiang Xueli walked up to Lin Zhengran and held out a bottle of lemon water with slightly flushed cheeks.
“Here, Zhengran! Since He Qing already bought you milk tea, I didn’t want to get the same thing. So I got you lemon water instead—to quench your thirst.”
The guys around Lin Zhengran fell silent again, staring blankly at the petite and lively Jiang Xueli. One by one, they looked even more confused and glanced at Lin Zhengran like he was a riddle.
“Bro... who’s this one?”
Lin Zhengran forced a smile.
He couldn’t even be bothered to explain anymore.
Soon, Han Wenwen came walking up, sipping from a cup of fruit tea. She wasn’t holding a second cup.
She stepped slowly up to the group. Jiang Xueli looked confused.
“Han Wenwen? Where’s the drink you got for Zhengran? Don’t tell me you forgot it at the shop?”
Han Wenwen took another sip and swirled the cup that was already a fifth empty.
“Nope. It’s right here.” She tilted her head, smiling, with one hand covering her cheek.
“It’s just—you both already bought him something. If I got another one, he wouldn’t be able to finish it all anyway. So I figured, why not switch it up a bit?”
She took another sip.
As her lips parted from the straw, a glistening strand of saliva, like a spider’s silk, caught the sunlight before it broke.
Han Wenwen gave Lin Zhengran a flirtatious look and said,
“Drinks that pass through the mouth first always taste better, don’t you think, Brother Zhengran? So let’s share this one. I even put on a little lipstick before I came.”
Jiang Xueli: “.....”
Little He Qing blushed and her heart raced.
“.....Wenwen’s getting bolder and bolder... and in front of so many people too.”
This time, it wasn’t just the boys around Lin Zhengran—boys from Class 3 all the way across the field were grinding their teeth as they stared daggers at him.
In the whole freshman class, there were only so many beautiful girls!
And you—how are you not getting indigestion from hoarding them all?!
Han Wenwen noticed the group of guys crowding around Lin Zhengran and whispered to Jiang Xueli,
“Another group of guys coming to talk to Brother Zhengran?”
Jiang Xueli sighed, covering her mouth,
“Talk to him? It’s just guys trying to make friends, that’s all. Zhengran does look friendly, and he’s got that aura. Honestly, if it weren’t for us three being around him all the time, he’d probably have tons of guy friends.”
Little He Qing looked guilty.
“So... we’re the ones who ruined it for Lin Zhengran?”
Jiang Xueli gave a sharp look.
“You’re not totally wrong. But I’d say he kind of brought it on himself too. Who told him to have so many girlfriends?”
The guys around Lin Zhengran, having just seen the unbelievably seductive Han Wenwen share a half-drunk drink with him, were seething.
Jaws clenched. Eyes filled with jealousy and hate.
Yet, one of them managed to hold it together better than the rest. Despite the bulging vein on his forehead, he forced a smile and said,
“Bro, I think I finally get why nobody’s talking to you. You’re seriously popular with the ladies, huh? But clearly, you don’t have a boyfriend, right?”
Lin Zhengran let out a small “huh?” and all Three Little Ones turned toward the guy.
“Boyfriend?”
“I meant male friends!”
“Oh... well yeah, that’s true,” Lin Zhengran didn’t deny it.
The guy kept smiling with his lips, not his eyes.
“See? So it’s fine. I don’t know what kind of relationship you’ve got with these three beautiful girls, but it doesn’t stop us from being friends.”
It was the first time Lin Zhengran met a guy who still wanted to be friends after meeting the Three Little Ones.
But then, the guy’s next words made his intentions very clear.
He said,
“These three girls are gorgeous, no doubt. But I’m not jealous at all. Because to me, the most beautiful girl in our whole freshman class is someone else. She’s the true queen—our goddess.
And just so you know, she doesn’t talk to any guys. That’s what makes her so divine!”
Han Wenwen chimed in,
“Wow, you’ve got a real way with words. I can tell you’re smart. So... do you go for the cold, aloof type?”
The guy turned, confused and startled.
“How... how did you know?”
Han Wenwen blinked her fox-like eyes and smiled sweetly.
“Just a hunch. Let me guess, the girl you’re talking about is her, right?”
She raised a slender finger and pointed toward a girl walking toward them—Jiang Qian, her long jet-black hair flowing behind her.
Alongside her was Fang Meng.
The guy’s gut twisted. Something felt off.
His heart pounded in despair.
“No...”
He had a bad feeling. He didn’t want to accept it. He couldn’t believe his goddess would do something like this.
“No... this can’t be real... this is impossible... I don’t believe it...”
But as Jiang Qian and Fang Meng walked up and stopped right in front of Lin Zhengran, the guy cracked like a statue—shattered into emotional rubble.
Second Miss Jiang's cheeks were lightly flushed as she handed over an electrolyte drink, her voice cold.
“After military drills, it’s better to drink something like this to rehydrate. Here.”
Fang Meng also placed a bottle in front of Lin Zhengran and locked eyes with him.
Her gaze seemed to say:
“Lin Zhengran, do you remember what I told you after our high school graduation ceremony? I regretted not bringing you water back during our high school drills. But I said, if I ever got another chance, I would. So here I am.”
And so—under the stunned eyes of all the students, teachers, and instructors on the training field—
The five most beautiful freshmen girls stood in a row.
Each holding a different drink for Lin Zhengran.
The guys who had been friendly just moments ago?
Even the guy who’d held it together so well?
Gone. Done.
They darkened like thunderclouds, rose slowly as if in slow motion, and drifted away from Lin Zhengran.
Far, far away.
They had one thought: ostracize him.
They would severely ostracize the guy who had stolen every single freshman beauty.
He would have zero male friends.
There would be a permanent void in his social life from this point on!
Lin Zhengran looked up at the five of them.
Han Wenwen turned toward Jiang Qian and Fang Meng, her voice full of confusion.
“We are old high school classmates, sure... but Jiang and Fang, don’t you think you’re being a little too straightforward? Handing drinks to Brother Zhengran in front of us?”
Jiang Xueli quickly caught on and stepped in front of the two girls.
“Yeah! Why you two? Why are you giving drinks to Zhengran?”
Jiang Qian and Fang Meng were speechless. Fang Meng hesitated, then pulled out three more bottles.
“We brought some for you three too.”
Little He Qing saw right through it and muttered softly,
“These are just extras, right? The main one was for Lin Zhengran.”
Fang Meng: “...”
Jiang Qian stayed expressionless.
“No. You’re all our old classmates. I treated you equally.”
Jiang Xueli’s cheeks turned red.
“Yeah, right! It’s obvious who you came here for. You can see it from a mile away!”
From afar, Jiang Jingshi appeared, leading a group of people carrying several boxes of drinks.
She announced,
“Class 3 students, come get a bottle of water—on me.”
The Class 3 students thanked her and got up to grab their drinks.
While everyone was busy picking their beverages, Jiang Jingshi quietly picked up a special drink she had prepared and walked over to Lin Zhengran.
But when she got there, she found him completely surrounded—by girls.
The Three Little Ones were there, and her own little sister.
Startled, Jiang Jingshi turned around and grabbed five more cups before returning.
She walked up quietly and said nothing.
First, she handed the special drink to Lin Zhengran.
“Here. This one’s for you. I picked it out for you myself.”
His drink was different from everyone else’s—Jiang Jingshi had added her own custom mix of ingredients.
Then she maintained her teacher persona and said,
“And here’s one for each of you as well. I brought them all.”
The five girls stared at Jiang Jingshi, their gazes deep with unspoken meaning.
None of them said a word.
In a way...
The way these sisters gave out drinks was exactly the same.
