Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead
Chapter 822 - 822: Sun And Beast

Nobody knew what the heralds and priestesses were up to at the top of the tower, and no one was aware that the two ancestors had emerged as well, even in Solzmimi's absence, the emerald sun remained the exact same, no signs of change or deterioration, and as for Hirzartanli, she had somehow left the underground without opening the doors supposed to seal her inside.

So the two highest authorities of the realm had gathered, and only the Emerald Heralds and Divine Dancing Priestesses knew of it.

They both approached the sphere of spirit life, Solzmimi grasping it first, the sun worshippers were the ones who shared a special link to this energy in the first place, as it was greatly linked to light in certain aspects, so it was her that was going to do the finer portions of the work, whilst Hirzartanli was simply going to imbue her feral will in the same way that beast sorcerers could manifest bestial spells.

The heralds and priestesses all took several steps back, the top of the tower erupting with dire force that mimicked a raging tornado, but due to the tower reaching above the clouds, it was hardly noticeable from the ground.

Both of them had acted like it was no big deal to just manipulate spirit life and change its rules on a whim, but it was an incredibly difficult affair, the undeads had done it by introducing a new variable in the form of spirit life corrupted by them, and it had required much preparation, many attempts and a healthy dose of luck to bend the realm rules to their will, but right now, the two ancestors were basically trying to do the same thing, but manually.

Quite literally shoving their hands in the weave of rules of the realm and rearranging it directly, but it was working, after all, the kind sun and All-Beast weren't just an ancient Emerald Herald and Divine Dancing Priestess, they were something far above these meagre concepts, they embodied major aspects of the realm, and could be considered as integral parts of the Emerald Realm.

Solzmimi embodied the light, Hirzartanli embodied the beasts, both embodied life.

And so, under their command, the spirit life changed, and that change spread outward as the sphere dispersed into the surroundings.

"And here you go!" Solzmimi clapped her hands.

"It might not be as tyrannical as it once was, but spirit life will not be sitting back and allow the undead to go as they please, though, it is not directly aggressive, we couldn't quite make it so after their previous meddling with spirit life" Hirzartanli stretched her arms like it was no big deal.

"Girls- And boy? Oh, I had forgotten that we had a boy amongst the heralds! Congrats, normally men explode when they try to advance to Emerald Heralds- As I was going to say, continue on cleansing spirit life to the best of your abilities, I'll be teaching you how to be more efficient about it while I am here"

"And as for you… I see that we have only women? How can the heralds be the one to be an exception to the rule when we literally have- Forget it, it's such a waste though, the realm has really put in harsh rules since our ascension, huh?"

Hirzartanli cracked her neck.

"What I wanted to say, is that you should continue on keeping the beast population to their ideal numbers, cut down any that is extra for more spirit life, and I'll be showing you a few tricks as well"

"Excuse me, venerable ancestor, but what are those harsh rules you just mentioned?" asked Iliz.

"It's nothing much, I guess that when someone does something incredible, they accidentally set rules for those that come after to follow, since me and Solzmimi were the very first to become an Emerald Herald and Divine Dancing Priestess, and that we then went on to transcend that, the realm has decided that to do the same, you had to be like us, in short, that you needed to be a woman" she explained, looking at the priestess that was several heads shorter than herself.

"You should be… Iliz, right?"

"Yes, Ancestor"

"The one that mingles with a beast tamer girl, correct? I have been meaning to talk to you! You know, it's nothing to be ashamed of…"

"Huh?"

"...Just because we always partake in communes with the stronger, male beasts, doesn't mean that we are obligated to emulate them and play the domina-"

"Ancestor! I understand completely, I- I'll go check if beast populations aren't too high right now!" and Iliz sprouted wings before jumping off the tower.

"What a shame, I was looking forward to exchanging tips with her"

'What sort of tips is she talking about?' Artazun was flabbergasted, but thankfully, her bestial transformation was too advanced for her expression to be clearly recognisable, never had she expected the All-Beast to be like this, it was said that she had locked herself down on the underground chamber after pursuing beast worship without faith, but not only did it seem like she had gotten better at some point, but she wasn't anything like Artazun had been told in her youth!

The All-Beast was supposed to be overly domineering, to the point that even being in her presence could crush someone into a puddle of blood, but the truth was far from the myth, Hirzartanli was awfully jolly.

Meanwhile, Artazim was more focused on the incredible control the beast ancestor was demonstrating.

It was said that the All-Beast had received this moniker precisely because she had thoroughly communed with every species of the Emerald Realm, which should mark her as a beast worshipper similar to Iliz as she was not focused on emulating a single creature, but somehow, she had enough control over it all to return to her most basic form.

Somehow, just being in her presence felt enlightening.

They could tell that the heralds felt the same way toward Solzmimi, to them, who loved the sun more than anything else, someone that could just live in the sun and seemingly become one with it was no different than a god.

Though both of the ancestors were a bit lacking in divine disposition, they didn't behave at all like their titles should allow them to, for all intents and purposes, they were the true rulers of the realm, and yet…

"Alright, in the meantime… Where are they at?"

"From the underground, I could hear everything with echolocation and see them all though the wall thanks to their heat, let me tell you, the fellows who arrived in the realm a few years back, they know how to adapt for the sake of women"

"I have seen that too! Especially that one with the glasses with that Jokra girl, honestly, seeing him adapt and grow brought a tear to my eye… Well it would have if all liquids weren't instantly evaporated by the sun- I spotted a few that haven't settled down yet, let's go grab them"

"We should go to the nurseries as well, I haven't tickled babies in ages"

"And then, we can go visit the undead, who knows, maybe the big bad guy is actually handsome?"

"I may have communed with scavengers, but even I know that corpses aren't that attractive"

"You never know, perhaps under the right lighting…"

…They were looking more like tourists right now.
