Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead
Chapter 820 - 820: Starfall

"Is it really possible to accomplish such a thing?"

"Believe, Liliazin… Did you feel that presence earlier? Some people fainted just be sensing it for a moment, and that is probably just a little taste of it, the undeads, as described by our dear friends, are creatures of rot and decay, deathlings, if you will, contrary to what their moniker might imply, they are indeed dead, they are naught that corpses granted the right to exist as beings" Zilania spoke calmly.

"Although they might have managed to tarnish our realm and forcefully included their right to exist here, they are still limited for a little while, their little stunt was impressive, but it seems like it rendered them unable to truly corrupt the spirit life in the air, with all sun worshippers working together, and beast followers performing sacred sacrifices, we are rapidly filling the realm with pure, untainted spirit life, they can't move about as they desire for now, or if they do, they would be severely weakened"

"That's just conjecture though, isn't it?"

"The one they fear so much hasn't appeared before us yet, so I can only assume that our work is bearing fruits" the eldest Emerald Herald smiled a little bit, but a neutral expression soon made its way on her face, for a sun worshipper, this was a rather rare one, the playful smile was most common, and even seriousness was more common than this, there were few occasions that could warrant to drop the usual attitude, but that simultaneously did not call for a harsher face.

Liliazin didn't even need to hear it to understand.

"To think that we have to bother them…"

"Do not fret, both are painfully bored and have only been holding back from doing anything for reasons that are hard to grasp for lowly beings like ourselves, but when the presence of the so-called 'Scourge' rippled across the realm, both stirred at once, it seems like he is even worse than described, for both to decide to make a move of their own volition…"

"You mean that no one asked for their help?"

"Indeed, we were confident that we could do something on our own, so we weren't going to disturb either of them, but whilst he can ask for help, we have no place to ask them to stand down"

Zilania and Liliazin stepped up stairs, and soon arrived atop the tallest tower of the realm, Ioleznta was already there, and so were the Divine Dancing Priestesses, the latter looking much more tense than their sun worshipping counterparts.

"How have the sacred sacrifices gone?" asked Zilania.

"It went perfectly well, the beast populations had been growing larger than normal lately after gorging on invaders, so there is no need to be worried on that point, we could even perform some more if necessary" Artazun was the first to respond, her robed body sprawled onto the ground like that of a cat, a giant cat, but one nonetheless.

All three heralds felt like it was the perfect occasion to ask if she purred, but restrained themselves as the moment wasn't exactly favourable to their usual tomfoolery.

"That is good to hear"

"And all the fresh and untouched spirit life is right there, compressed into a that big ball, all that is left is to put it to good use to prevent the undeads from being able to spread outward and do as they please" added Ioleznta, holding the sphere of spirit life and spinning it on her index finger.

"You are truly an incredible sun worshipper, even I struggle to retain my funny bone under the current circumstances" Zilania smiled pleasantly, looking like a mother proud of her daughter, such an expression wasn't very common, considering that children in the Emerald Realm were traditionally raised together, and separated from their parents, hardly anyone present actually knew who it was that had procreated them, and none actually cared, it simply was that way.

"Odd, usually, when you're so nice, you follow it my slipping stinky bugs in my pockets"

"Extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary events, don't you think?"

"Is that so?"

"You heralds always manage to have the strangest of conversations at the oddest of times" Irlitimiz sighed, already feeling the tension permeating her wolfish body evaporate whilst witnessing the usual antics, it was certainly hard to be worried with sun worshippers messing around.

"Indeed, they are quite the whimsical ones, aren't they? I should come by and get sun worshippers to groom my feathers so I can see more of that" Artazim clacked her beak a few times.

Iliz blinked a few times, not remembering the last time she had seen her bird-like senior laugh, granted, they did not see each other that often, but still, the two great priestesses had always struck her as no nonsense, all business types.

As they exchanged a few more words, the emerald sun seemed to grow brighter, or so it appeared, upon closer inspection, the brightness was due to something falling from the sun itself, a mass of emerald light barrelling toward them at neck-breaking speed, but neither heralds nor priestesses budged, all bent one knee moments before the light landed softly on one end of the tower.

The radiance began to dim, revealing a being made entirely of light, a figure that morphed and rippled.

"Greetings, Ancestor Solzmimi!" all spoke in unison, but soon slightly raised their heads as they heard no responses, only hearing mutterings.

"Wait… Hold on… Like this? No, like that! Ah… Oh, I am getting it, I should have rehearsed this- Been too long since last time…"

The mass of emerald light continued to bend around, accompanied by whispers.

"And… Here we are! Ah, I knew I still had it in me! People, behold- Me! Sorry for the delay in response, you know how it is, a bit rusty about a few things, I have been hanging around in the sun as light for like… At least a few years, probably more than that, I didn't remember how to not be light! Ahahah… Aaah… Why are you all kneeling? Eaten something not good? Need to relieve yourselves?"

Coming down from the sky like a shooting star, there stood the highest authority amongst the sun worshippers.

"Ancestor Solzmimi, we are simply paying you your due respects!"

"Well, no need for that, I am not that respectable, I shine light precisely through the blinds to hit your eyes every morning- Like, I do that for almost everyone I can, honestly, I am a straight-up villain, I laugh my ass off every single time"

'No doubt about it, that's a sun worshipper for you…' whilst the beast worshippers all thought the same thing, the heralds had to clean away a tear of admiration at the corner of their eyes.

"More importantly, check this out, I took down the brightness, what do you think? Am I not dashing?"
