Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead
Chapter 800 - 800: Ever So Strange

"Alright, now that- That is a very big beast… Can we keep it?" wondered Irlitimiz aloud as he shook off the corpse of an invader that she had pierced through the chest using her hand.

"It is not an emerald beast, and has been thoroughly tamed to follow the orders of the invaders and of the undead, we can't keep it… Besides, where do you even want to keep that thing? It's taller than some of our towers!" replied Iliz, throwing her arms in the direction of the creature in question.

Inside of the Emerald Realm, somehow, the invaders had brought in an enormous crab of sorts, it's legs so long that a single one could easily flatten hundreds of people in one go, armed with pincers that could shut at an incredible speed, and partly covered in crooked spikes over its limbs, the dark orange beast was a being that wielded dire strength.

Though the emerald folks had no idea that this creature was far from being the largest of its kind, or even that it was the largest that the invaders had been able to fit through the gate, upon the top of this crab, countless invaders were standing, firing projectiles downward without stop.

The amount of enemies was large, and unlike in the north, they weren't packed in camps, they had sprawled over the area, their objective wasn't to target the barrier at all, but to spread so that some would be able to hide and establish a foothold in the south, the giant beast was merely being used as a distraction.

And the simple fact that such a majestic being had been enslaved with the sole purpose of buying just a little bit of time was most infuriating in the eyes of the heralds and priestesses.

Lives were being wasted to try and maybe accomplish a most simplistic goal, the enemy was just throwing its troops to the slaughter for a vague chance at success, still, they had to ignore that egregious waste of life, as it was the followers of death they were dealing with after all… And instead question other aspects of what was currently going on.

Just like before, those who were not completely destroyed would transform into abhorrent creatures, but the amount of elites running around was far lesser, and this was leading to the enemy being cut down much more rapidly as the native beasts living in the southern portion of the realm did not take kindly to their trespassing, the soldiers in white had already been on the receiving end of a brutal attack before the heralds and priestesses even got there.

Though, the wonder as to why less elites were mobilised here was secondary to the how they had managed to bring a giant crab here, the idea that they had dug their way to here was plausible, but the idea that they had brought this giant beast through a tunnel much less so, as such, they were under the impression that the gate they were looking for was actually close-by, or at least, had been nearby moments ago.

"Artazim, Emerald Heralds, did you spot anything yet?" asked Artazun, the sun worshippers and her twin sister were the most able to notice the exit of the potential tunnel the enemy had dug to here, through the light and thanks to being able to fly, but neither responded affirmatively, there were no traces of any tunnel anywhere.

The Divine Dancing Priestess growled, could it be possible that the remaining portal had somehow been brought to the south without anyone noticing a thing? If so, how did they accomplish such a thing? And furthermore, if they had been able to do such an outrageous action, why in damnation would they use this opportunity so poorly? They could have set up a secret hideout and flanked them from both the north and south, but instead, they had given their position away, for what? A mere distraction?

"They might have split their portal like they did back then" Ioleznta voiced out what was the concern of everyone present, that the invading force had repeated a previous action and multiplied their amount of portal available, allowing them to summon troops from multiple areas at once.

"Our kind sun did not notice anything" spoke Zilania.

"Neither did the All-Beast" replied Artazim as she landed beside the group.

"Could they have tricked the senses of our precursors? Even if they could have increased the amount of portals in secret, could they really have transported them without them noticing a thing?" Iliz frowned, bisecting multiple enemies with a swing of her tail without even turning to look in their direction.

"The undeads seem to be masters of many bizarre abilities, although the power of our ancestors is not to be questioned, they could have been blind to things that they simply have never seen before" Liliazin said, and although that caused the others to grumble, they knew that he was right, the kind sun and All-Beast were not omniscient, and they were emerald folks too, they had never stepped out of the realm, so there were plenty of things they had no idea about.

The emerald sun seemed to dim and brighten.

"Our kind sun disapproves of our lack of trust, but agrees that it is very likely that we are correct" Ioleznta translated with a slight chuckle, it wasn't every day that the green sun was flustered like this.

"Let these invaders be damned, let us clear the south entirely to make sure that don't pull any fast one on us… How are they doing over in the steamy region?" spoke the wolfish priestess, her tail stiff.

"Mmh… They are fine, it seems like they encountered some dangerous opponents, but got out without anything serious happening, they already searched the entire place from what it looks like, but did not find any traces of a hidden base in there… Now that's concerning"

"Guess we'll need to visit the underbelly to check for anything there, they must have hidden pretty deep underground" the leonine priestess added.

"We have a few beast worshippers that are in union with the Arahtazthat, would you mind leading them, Iliz?"

"No problem"

"Well then, ladies and gentleman, let's get to purging the south"

The leaders of the realm, who had been casually discussing whilst still brutally killing invaders that dared to approach, all moved at once, and within moments, a pillar of emerald light coming from the sky pierced right through the giant arthropod, slaying the beast instantly, and as its body dispersed into spirit life, countless soldiers who had been standing upon it fell to their death.

Even being an offspring of Pangea'Kalst, did not help it survive a direct attack from a herald.
