Chapter 188: Tempest
Chapter 188: Tempest
A din of exclamations filled the hall of Parliament. Agiel was silent for a moment then readjusted his tie, a smile on his lips.
"That settles it, I guess. Communications Department, cut off all alerts from the different cities, I want all attention to be on Mistrallon."
[Yes sir!]
"For our interlocutor from Mistrallon, I want you to give us as many details as possible about the battle, we are sending you reinforcements. What is the situation now?"
(Mistrallon)
"FIRE!!!!"
Around fifty Holy Knights shouted out a multitude of energy rays, creating a mesmerizing rainbow in the sky, aimed at the same target.
*SNAP*
The barrage split in several directions, like a deadly flower, and headed towards the Holy Knights.
"SHIELD!!!"
A line of tanks rose into the sky, releasing a wave of energy that took the form of a luminous wall and received the bombardment of light rays.
Farther away, a huge rock rose from the ground and fell backward, freeing Ratoncia in broad daylight. The maid, slightly injured and eyes glowing a bright orange, was trying to catch her breath, her eyes fixed on a single being floating above.
"... It’s useless... I’m sure the Prince isn’t here anyway, I have to run away!"
She turned her back to him and began to rush forward at high speed, her body covered in an orange aura, and then she disappeared.
"Ugh!!!"
In the blink of an eye, she found herself floating, or rather suspended, in the hands of the worst possible person.
Dora held her by the neck, several meters above the ground.
"Hmph, so that’s all you can do? If you’re resolved not to struggle anymore, then I’ll put you on standby too."
The maid was struggling to breathe, kicking the air and hitting his hands.
"NOW!"
On the ground, a holy knight placed his hands on the ground and unleashed a shockwave sweeping through the city. Suddenly, earth tentacles emerged from the ground and converged on Dora but hit an invisible barrier.
However, instead of disintegrating, they grew and formed a ball of earth, trapping the young man and the servant.
"Finish him!!!"
Around twenty knights jumped into the air and launched various long-range attacks. On the ground, spellcasters cast their specialties and the sky lit up.
Two glowing circles form in the air and two emissaries shout at the same time.
"SPEAR OF GOD!!!"
A gigantic beam erupts from the circles and engulfs the blast of attacks, destroying the festival. The earth shook momentarily, everyone holding their breath as they waited to see the results of their efforts.
A cloud of energy slowly disintegrated in the sky and slowly, fear grew on everyone’s faces.
Dora emerged from the energy, perfectly intact, still strangling Ratoncia who was covered in a white aura reflecting the surrounding lights.
He showed a smile and let go of the servant who fell before disappearing in a flash. Slowly, the boy extended his arm in their direction, creating a wave of panic among the knights who were rushing in all directions, then, a snap reversed the colors.
"RUUUUUN!!!"
The sky turned yellow and great beams of light fell on the army. First a dozen, then thirty, then fifty, the deadly rains illuminated the sky and the Earth, decimating what remained of Mistrallon’s heroes.
In their room, the parliamentarians collapsed in their chairs after the transcription. Agiel’s right index finger attacked his left arm.
"... Transmission team, what’s the situation with Candace? You said she was fighting too."
[... We don’t know, she was among the first to face him, but she disappeared... We also think that she was accompanied... Oh! Wait! Here! She’s there !!!]
The members sat up straighter in their seats, miles away, Agharita also adopted the same reaction.
Floating above a desolate land, Dora crossed his arms, facing a green bubble guarding a precious content, the dean.
Candace, her clothes burned and slightly injured, applied healing to herself, gritting her teeth in pain. She noticed the destroyed floor and gave Dora a murderous look.
"... Why? Why are you doing this?! You said you wanted to leave, why are you doing this now?! What more do you want for God’s sake!"
Dora looked at her for a moment then snapped his finger, making the bubble disappear. Candace began to fall before stopping in mid-air and gradually floating towards him.
She stopped a few meters in front of him, unable to move.
"Ngh... what’s wrong... What’s wrong with- Argh!...."
Her arms tightened at her sides as if she had been restrained. Dora shook his head, annoyed. The dean was breathing hard, she tried once again to regain her composure and gave him a pleading look.
"... Is it because I rejected you again? Is that why you’re doing this?... Please tell me that’s the reason because I refuse to believe that the Sin has awakened again to rebel... Dora... Please stop..."
The boy took a look at his surroundings, the sky and the landscape then, after another click, a green platform formed at his feet.
He freed Candace who fell next to him. She tried to get up, but her feet refused to stand.
"Damn... Why are you so quiet? Say something! What happened? Why are you always like this?!"
She lowered her head, tears welling up in her eyes.
"I’m really tired of this...I’m tired of it...why do you always complicate things?..."
"Is crying one of your special abilities?"
She raised her head, meeting her friend’s yellow eyes.
"... What happened? What happened that changed you again? Dora... Malia and Wendy... maybe what you did... ."
"They are already dead."
"... Uh?"
He crouched in front of the dean, a few inches separating their faces.
"My mother and sister died the night before. It seems I was tricked and someone took advantage of my absence to kill them."
The dean’s eyes widened, her body completely freezing.
"... Impossible... it’s impossible... M... Malia... and Wendy... are dead?"
Dora narrowed his eyes. He looked closely at Candace and as she seemed to collapse in despair, he stood up groaning.
"And so I guess you have no idea what happened. Impressive, I’m pretty sure I killed everyone around, how come I can’t find them?"
Dean’s ears twitched. She raised her head again, her body now trembling.
"... Is that it? The reason you’re attacking... for revenge?...Dora?"
A moment of silence passed, the boy keeping his gaze fixed on the horizon. Candace stood up, her worried eyes fixed on him.
"Dora? Please... I... I don’t understand what happened... I refuse to believe it’s true... but..."
"Here we go."
"...Uh?...Hm?!"
In the agency, Agharita slammed the table, her whole body trembling. The people around her were in shock.
"... My God..."
In their room, the Parliament members were sweating profusely, Agiel was now sitting next to the telephone.
"Is this really happening? Is this real??"
"Communication team, are you sure?" asked Agiel.
[Mr Agiel... We have them in visual... the Queen is here.]
