Chapter 179: Chaos

Chapter 179: Chaos

Gloria’s head swiveled towards Nosfera, her eyes widening

"What do you mean, empty?"

"What I mean is... I don’t sense any living organisms there... my Queen."

With a deep frown etched upon her regal face, the Queen swiftly made her way into the room, leaving the maid and the Prince trembling in her wake.

As she reached the center of the chamber, her heart sank, confirming the dreadful truth of her daughter’s disappearance. Slowly, her arms dropped to her sides, a heavy weight settling upon her.

Time seemed to stand still, enveloping the room in an intense silence. At that moment, Moonra felt the air grow thin, forgetting how to breathe. And then, as if in a trance, his soul departed from his body.

"Moonra?" In a flat and unvarying tone, the queen uttered.

He looked towards her, and the radiant orange hue of her eyes revived him from his slumber.

"Where is she?"

As the plate crashed onto the ground, it shattered into numerous fragments, mirroring the shattered spirit of the Prince. The young boy’s ability to speak, think, and even see gradually faded away, leaving his vision blurred.

Gloria, turning towards him, exerted an overwhelming pressure that extended beyond the walls of her mansion, providing her with a vivid depiction of every detail within, except for the whereabouts of two individuals.

In the kitchen, garden, and another bedroom, Artesis, Vixen, and Ratoncia were startled by the abrupt cracking of the mansion wall.

"M-My Queen!... Calm down!" Nosfera shouted as she fell to her knees.

One step, another step, the Queen closed the distance between them, the ground creaked with each step and the air turned orange.

"Where are they?!" Her voice echoed throughout the rooms, shattering several windows.

The trio of maids finally made it to the room, sinking down to their knees under the Queen’s formidable pressure. Nosfera placed her hands on the floor and glanced over her shoulder.

"Please, prince... where is... Um?"

Her eyes widened in astonishment as Moonra disappeared behind the maids. In front of the entrance, the young man raced at full speed, tears flowing down his cheeks, his heart racing at an astonishing pace. Every cell in his body seemed to be focused on one command: run.

"MOONRAAAA!"

The Queen’s scream pierced the evening, and her son responded with another scream of intense fear, disappearing down the main road.

Candace and Freya stood at the station, their faces showing some concern. As they waited for their train, their eyes were fixated on the ground, avoiding the curious gazes of the other commuters.

Commuters rushing to catch their trains, vendors selling food, and announcements blaring from the speakers made it a chaotic scene, meanwhile, the Dean was scanning the faces of the people around her. She appeared to be searching for someone, or perhaps something, as she looked around frequently.

Freya, who was standing, noticed her behavior right away.

"It’s useless, dean, he won’t come."

"... I know, I rejected the one who would have helped us after all."

She sighed deeply and placed a hand on her forehead.

"Say, Freya, you who are so wise, why don’t you make decisions for me? I always seem to make things worse."

"... Dean, the only difference between you and us is that you’re the only one with an idea and the will to carry it out. I’m flattered that you like me so much, but I guarantee you that I won’t do any better. What more can we do? We erased his memory, made him a monster, then refused to let the monster help us... That’s a lot of back and forth, maybe that our biggest mistake was never following through on every plan?"

The dean massaged her sinuses and adjusted her bag.

"The problem with that kind of logic is that if we go to a dead end, it’s over. No one can predict the future... right?"

A sudden vibration startled Candace as her phone came to life. She immediately grabbed it and saw a message that had popped up. As she read it, her complexion turned noticeably paler. Freya tilted her head to the side and leaned forward.

"Dean? What..."

"Ah! It’s... It’s nothing! Nothing at all!" She put the phone in her bag and quickly looked around.

"Dean? Are you sure everything is okay?"

"Urgh... S-since I told you! I just got a message from the Scholars to... uh... throw me a farewell party! Can you go to Paradea alone? I’ll join you all again later!"

She was sweating profusely and speaking in a loud voice. Freya frowned but as the announcement of the train’s departure came, she complied and headed towards the train.

She took one last look at the dean who kept her trembling eyes on her until the doors closed.

"What is that thing?!" Candace said as she started to run.

In many parts of the city, all parliamentarians received the same message from an anonymous source:

[One of the Queen’s children is in Mistrallon without protection. Whoever can locate them and return them to our Queen will be killed but their family will become noble.]

Upon receiving this message, a wave of tension swept across the faces of the individuals, triggering a strong and vocal protest from everyone, particularly the proletarians.

"What the hell?! Why should we help this bitch?!"

"We will die too if we help? How far will they play with our lives?!"

The conflict began with numerous disputes within the city, escalating into violent riots. The knights were given the responsibility of quelling the unrest using all possible methods, resorting to force as the citizens displayed open hostility.

Numerous clashes erupted throughout the city, with the knights, symbolizing the nobility and their queen against the common people, resulting in utter chaos engulfing the city.

As for Moonra, he ran again and again, never slowing down, never looking behind him. As an emissary, his strength and endurance allowed him to push his body to this point, and so, he crossed the forest, the fields, and the roads, like lightning, like a bullet.

His rush lasted for over 15 minutes and soon his brain started working again. He was now able to generate an emotion, and as his cells dictated, it was fear.

He was able to continue around, realizing he was back in town. He dared to look behind him and, to his great surprise, no one was following him. He slowed down a bit and soon noticed a group of people around what looked like a fire camp.

"... Yes!... I know, I just have to go see the dean or even Dora!... Since Solaria isn’t back, that means they accepted her... I can escape if I can join them too..."

He rushed towards the group of people, ignoring the broken cars and shopping around him. From a distance, people noticed him getting closer and everyone stopped their movement.

"Phew... Phew... HELP!!! HELP ME!!!" Moonra shouted.

He finally reached them and fell to his knees, catching his breath. He wanted to look as tired as possible so kept his head down.

"Please... help me... I am... I’m begging you... The Queen is..."

As he lifted his head, his terrified expression was unveiled to them. However, what he encountered were wide-open red eyes resembling golf balls, accompanied by hands gripping golf clubs adorned with spikes, saws, hammers, and an array of other menacing tools.

"... The... THE QUEEN’S CHILD IS HERE!"
