Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Who Saved Her?
She placed the long brush on its back and began scrubbing in sync with the flow of water.
She started brushing carefully.
Sophie Sullivan was cautious and constantly kept an eye on the crocodile, not daring to slack off for a single moment.
Perhaps it was because she had lost too much blood last night, which was why she felt faint now.
Suddenly her vision darkened, and she pitched heavily forward.
Suddenly, a tight grip seized her wrist; in a flash, someone pulled her back.
Who was it?
Who saved her?
Sophie’s body went limp, and she completely lost consciousness.
...
「The back mountain golf course.」
"Young Master, Minimus Hart is awake. Shall we see her now?"
Charlie River hung up the phone, walked over to Thomas Shannon, and asked in a low voice.
After Thomas Shannon made a hole-in-one, he tossed his club. Charlie River caught it steadily and handed it to a man in black nearby.
"Have her come to see me."
"Understood, Young Master!"
Having narrowly escaped death, the just-awakened Minimus Hart wasted no time. With the assistance of a servant, she arrived at the golf course.
"Young Master, I have arrived." Minimus Hart respectfully bent at the waist.
She owed her escape this time to the Young Master sending people to support her. Otherwise, she would have perished in Country C.
"You’re injured, so there’s no need for formality. Sit."
Minimus Hart raised her head and smiled gratefully. "Thank you for your consideration, Young Master Richardson."
Thomas Shannon poured himself a cup of wine and took a sip. "What information have you gathered this time?"
Minimus Hart’s expression became serious. "A coup is imminent in Country C."
She had been undercover as the Prime Minister of Country C’s lover for three years, gathering a significant amount of intelligence. This time, however, a momentary lapse in caution while reporting information led to her capture by the guards. The Prime Minister of Country C was enraged and, in a phone call, immediately ordered her to be eliminated. With her identity compromised, Minimus Hart’s only option to save her life was to fight her way out and flee Country C. However, Country C had already become an inescapable net, making her escape nearly impossible. Fortunately, the Young Master had anticipated she would be in trouble and dispatched reinforcements, enabling her to escape. Although she was injured, at least her life had been saved.
When Sophie woke up again, she felt a heaviness in her chest.
Upon opening her eyes, she saw a bristling tabby cat standing on her chest, its round eyes staring unblinkingly at her.
Sophie raised her hand, grabbed it by the nape of its neck, and tossed it aside. "Get away."
In the castle, Harry, whom nobody other than Thomas Shannon dared to lay a finger on, had met its match for the first time.
"MEOW!"
Harry angrily bit her collar, shaking its head as it pulled.
"Enough!" Sophie grabbed Harry by the scruff of its neck, lifted it into the air, and stared fiercely at it.
Harry’s limbs stiffened, its wide eyes seemingly in disbelief. Suspended in midair, Harry cowered. The once-intimidatingly proud cat transformed into a limp, weak-willed creature.
"Don’t disturb my rest." Sophie nonchalantly tossed Harry to the ground.
Harry, agile and nimble, flipped in midair and landed safely, its tail wagging.
"MEOW." Harry turned its head and called out to Sophie.
Sophie felt dizzy and miserable. She grabbed a nearby pillow and threw it.
It hit Harry right on target!
Harry, emerging from under the pillow, shook its majestic tabby fur and bolted out of the room.
Finally, the world was quiet.
Sophie held her forehead with one hand and closed her eyes in discomfort, recalling the moment before she fainted.
Someone had grabbed her arm and pulled her back, allowing her to escape from the crocodile’s jaws.
Who was the person who saved her?
