Chapter 139: Chapter 139 Romance
"Don’t worry, I’ll bring Xiao Tao with me." Doctor Huang saw her troubled expression and offered another suggestion.
Xiao Tao is the nurse at the clinic.
"Doctor Huang, really, there’s no need!" An Ying looked into the man’s earnest eyes and spoke softly.
Her words carried a subtle detachment, which Doctor Huang could not ignore. He froze for a moment, then awkwardly forced a smile, tinged with embarrassment, "That’s fine too."
He stared at her fair ankle, slightly lost in thought, and only after the bandaging was done did he stand up and, as usual, gave some instructions for care.
An Ying had already put on her shoes, leaning against the wall, "Thank you!"
"Actually, there’s no need for formality between us." Doctor Huang looked at her with sincerity, his gaze earnest.
An Ying had already turned around, leaving only a sentence, "I’ll be going now."
She was like a spring, calm and deep, irresistibly drawing people to want to approach and explore its mysteries.
As she left the room for changing dressings, Doctor Huang absentmindedly returned to his seat and stared in the direction she had left, lost in thought for a long time. When he first met her, Doctor Huang couldn’t help but marvel that such a fairy-like beauty lived in their rundown community. Later, Doctor Huang often saw her carrying a frail little baby into the clinic.
Sometimes it was on rainy nights, and she would knock on the door in panic.
Gradually, Doctor Huang learned that she was raising the child alone, and because her daughter was born prematurely, she was weak and often fell ill. During that period, she would bring her daughter to the clinic almost every month.
Pulling himself out of the past memories, Doctor Huang sighed, since his wife left, An Ying was the only woman he had feelings for.
For some reason, Doctor Huang had a vague feeling that An Ying was no ordinary woman; no matter how many years she lived here, she couldn’t hide the elegant aura she exuded!
Doctor Huang’s expression gradually turned forlorn. Over the years, he hadn’t given up on trying; neighbors even asked An Ying on his behalf, but after being rejected, Doctor Huang didn’t abandon his affection for her. As time quietly passed, the emotions in his heart became even deeper and more profound!
This feeling made him feel like a young boy, restless and anxious!
He and his deceased wife were brought together by arranged marriage, everything fell into place naturally, and their life was dull. Until he met An Ying, he then understood what the love praised by the world truly felt like!
He felt as if he lived again!
At the clinic entrance.
An Ying, supporting herself against the wall, limped out and saw An Yin standing outside the door.
"Yinyin!" Even though An Ying knew her daughter would come, seeing her filled the empty space in her heart, warming and bittersweet.
An Yin approached, holding her arm tightly, speaking with a hint of tears, "Let’s go home first."
Growing up dependent on her mother, An Yin saw Mrs. An as her world.
Because of this special relationship, An Yin was exceptionally careful in handling matters concerning An Ying, as in her understanding, Mrs. An was her only concern in this world!
Every time she saw An Yin’s cautious demeanor, An Ying felt a sharp pang in her heart, yet she was helpless and could only swallow such complex emotions.
From the moment she decided to give birth, she should have foreseen the challenges her daughter would face in a single-parent family.
After walking a stretch of bright road, they entered the old apartment building they lived in.
An Yin took out her phone, turned on the flashlight, and grumbled, "After so many years, no one has fixed the streetlights in the community."
An Ying’s expression was unnatural, suppressing the pain in her ankle, naturally quickening her pace over the unlit section.
An Yin quickly reminded her, "Slow down, your foot is hurt!"
"Okay."
Listening to her daughter, An Ying realized her odd behavior, but her body was tense, a natural reaction after being hurt. An Ying tried her best to overcome it, slightly turning her head, not letting her daughter see through her.
An Ying supported her, and they slowly climbed the stairs.
Reaching the door, An Yin took out the key and unlocked it, letting An Ying sit down first after entering.
Then An Yin went to the bathroom, took out Mrs. An’s towel, soaked it in hot water, wrung it dry, and brought it to Mrs. An.
"Wash your face first and wipe your hands." Mrs. An loved cleanliness; especially after coming from a hospital or clinic, she would wash first.
An Ying naturally took the towel her daughter handed her, the shadow on her face swept away, replaced with a broad smile, "Thank you!"
Hearing this, An Yin pouted, angrily snorting from her nostrils, "Hmph!"
After washing her face, An Ying meticulously dried her hands, especially between the fingers.
An Yin, standing by, was already impatient, her mind full of questions, wanting answers from her mother. If she didn’t know her mother’s gentle nature, she would suspect her of stalling for time.
When An Ying handed the towel to An Yin, she took it without a word and wanted to place it on the living room coffee table.
An Ying saw through her daughter’s thoughts, "Take it to the bathroom and wash it, it won’t take much time, plus, I’m right here. After you wash it, I’ll answer whatever you want to ask, okay?"
An Yin reluctantly grabbed the towel and headed to the bathroom.
Not even three seconds later, An Ying watched her daughter walking out of the bathroom, smiling with helplessness in her eyes: Washing a towel, the little girl was slacking again.
Seeing An Yin approach with a pout, An Ying swallowed the reminder she was about to give.
"Okay, can you tell me why you got hurt? And, why didn’t you tell me right away when you got hurt? If I hadn’t found out, were you not planning to tell me at all?" An Yin sat beside her, her clear, bright eyes eagerly fixed on her.
Her questions were so many that An Ying got a headache. She didn’t answer her daughter’s questions, instead casually asked, "How did you know I got hurt?"
"I ran into Grandma Wu downstairs, and she mentioned it..." An Yin honestly answered Mrs. An’s question, and upon finishing, immediately realized her mother’s evasiveness, pouting, "You haven’t answered my question yet."
Originally, An Ying didn’t intend to avoid her daughter’s questions; she just wanted to know how her daughter learned about her injury, and upon hearing her daughter’s answer, An Ying paused.
Grandma Wu liked to chat, conversing with anyone she met, so it wasn’t surprising that her daughter learned of her injury from Grandma Wu.
