Chapter 170: Chapter 170: You have a visitor
"You have a visitor, Holt," one of the guards announced with a serious look etched onto his face, his voice slicing through the noises that filled the stale air.
I watched as my mother walked out of the gate from behind and we locked eyes from a distance. Almost immediately, the hope that was once swirling in the depths of her eyes vanished and a frown crept onto her face to rest between her brows. Her eyes were narrowed into thin slits as she glared at me.
Despite the displeasure written all over her face, she marched over and sat before me, with only a piece of plastic separating us. Immediately, she picked up the phone and so did I.
Her voice was muffled as she spoke, but I could hear every word clearly. "What do you want?" She asked curtly, spitting the words out like they were poison in her mouth. "You came here to mock me? To laugh at me? Is that what this is about?" She questioned, her tone carrying a sharp edge to it as anger flashed past her dark green eyes.
A cold chuckle emerged from my throat as I kept my gaze steady.
"Well..." I drawled, dragging the word out as if I was savouring every syllable.
"I would be lying if I said I wasn’t," I remarked, letting a snicker escape through my parted lips. "I’m glad you got what you deserved."
I watched with great satisfaction as her blood boiled with anger and rage was pulsing through every single vein inside of her. She clenched her jaw tightly and impulse quickly clouded her judgement as she rose from her chair and slammed her palm against the barrier between us.
"How dare you!" She yelled.
The loud noise reverberated in the place, startling a few but I remained unfazed as I kept my eyes on her.
"Holt!" The guard called out, shooting her a stern glare as if to warn her not to misbehave. "Watch yourself."
She plopped back down onto the cold hard chair and let out a loud scoff as she continued to glare at me. Her eyes filled with disdain and contempt while the air crackled with unspoken tension.
"Why the hell are you here? You saw me now, you saw how miserable I am, does that make you happy? Can’t you just leave?" She sneered with a disdainful scorn.
"I thought you said you weren’t afraid of prison? That in fact you would be honoured to do this for your daughter, Evelyn," I reminded her, my harsh words stabbing through her chest and into her heart. I watched as she clenched her fists tightly, her blunt nails digging into the flesh of her palms and her knuckles were even starting to turn white. "You should be happy, shouldn’t you?" I taunted relentlessly as a smirk tugged at the corners of my lips.
"You –!"
The words barely left the tip of her tongue when I interrupted her, cutting her off before she could even complete her sentence.
"Oh wait," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm as my eyes gleamed with a knowing look. "Your own biological daughter that you cared so much for didn’t once come to visit you, did she? From what I heard, I was the first visitor you had so far, you were hoping to see her, weren’t you?" I asked as the smirk that was etched onto my face widened this time.
SIlence stretched between us as tension brewed in the air.
My own voice broke the silence this time. "Unfortunately for you, it’s the other daughter that you didn’t want or care for."
"What do you know about Evelyn?!" She snarled, clearly agitated as my words poked at her buttons. "She is just busy, I know she will come one day," she said, making up an excuse to delude herself, maybe it somehow made her feel better about herself and what she did.
I laughed.
"What’s so funny?" She hissed, her eyes glazed with anger as her face darkened visibly.
"You are right. Don’t worry about it, Jennifer," I said, my voice taunting as I maintained my gaze on her face. "You will meet her soon, she’s coming and you two can reunite again," I said with a knowing look as amusement danced in my dark brown eyes.
I saw the way her eyes lit up for a moment but it quickly faded when realisation dawned upon her. "What do you mean by that? What are you trying to say?" She questioned, the words that left her lips were dripping with accusation.
I smiled at her, letting the corners of my lips curl upwards into a smile.
"I think you know what I mean..." I said, my voice trailing off. "Your daughter will soon be arrested once there is sufficient evidence."
Her eyes widened to the size of a saucer as pure panic crossed her face within a split second. She leaned in closer. "What the hell are you talking about?! What do you mean?! Why would Evelyn be arrested? What do you mean?!" She shouted, her voice cracking towards the end of the sentence, desperation was written all over her face.
"She tried to run me over with a car," I started as my voice remained unwavering and it was only at this moment when her gaze flickered down to glance at my still bandaged arm. "Lucky for me, Xavier and I are both alive. But she isn’t so lucky because she will be charged with attempted murder. Nobody can save her this time, not even her parents. She will be arrested then maybe if you are lucky, you guys might be prison mates," I mocked.
There was a brief pause before a smirk morphed itself onto my lips as I let the next few words tumble out of my mouth.
"I didn’t think she would end up in jail one day but there’s this saying...like mother, like daughter."
"Aurelia Holt!" She screamed my name, her voice trembling with anger as her face turned red from the pure rage that spread within her like a wildfire. "How dare you! You fucking bitch!" She cussed at me with wide eyes as her heart burst with hatred for me.
"Hey, Holt! That’s enough!" The guard who was standing by the door behind came dashing forward to hold her back. She grabbed her by her arms and pulled them behind her back, constraining her as she struggled to break-free from the guard’s tight grip. "You are going back to your cell," The guard announced as a slight smirk appeared on my lips.
"Let go of me!" Jennifer demanded through gritted teeth, her face filled with fury as she pushed against the guard’s hold. But her words only fell on deaf ears as the guard continued to drag her and pulled her away despite her shouts. Everyone else around us was watching with excitement and anticipation on their faces, eager to watch the scene unfold before their eyes. She was looking right into my eyes, her gaze burning with rage and her voice was heavy with a threat. "I will fucking kill you, Aurelia! I will kill you!"
I never tore my eyes away from hers as I kept my gaze steady, unfazed by her unruly behaviour. Her screams soon faded into the background and the guard dragged her out of the place as she disappeared behind the closed door.
A low chuckle emerged from my parted lips and my eyes were fixated on the door at the corner as I muttered the next few words under my breath.
"Enjoy prison, Jennifer."

Third person POV
There was a loud buzz that echoed through the mansion of the Lloyd family.
One of the helpers rushed over to check the intercom and a gasp left her parted when she realised who was standing on the other side of the gate.
"Who is it?" Natalie’s voice came from behind her as she walked up to her. Her eyes flickered over to glance at the intercom and her face fell within the next second. "It’s the police..." She murmured under her breath, her voice laced with a hint of shock and surprise.
Her mind began to buzz with thoughts and questions as her heart raced inside her chest, pounding loudly against her chest, threatening to burst out at any second. Why would the police show up to their place?
"It’s alright, you may go, I will handle this," Natalie instructed. She took in a deep breath and calmly pressed the button at the side. "Good evening officers, how may we help you?" She asked, trying her best to maintain her calm demeanour.
"Good evening Ma’am," the officer on the screen greeted. "We are looking for Evelyn Lloyd. Is she home?"
Natalie’s eyes widened slightly and she hesitated. She couldn’t speak properly, as though there was a lump stuck in her throat. "May I know... the reason why?" She asked, stammering as she struggled to find the right words to say.
"We are investigating a hit and run accident and we suspect that Evelyn is involved."
A loud thud echoed in her ears and the glass cup fell onto the ground and shattered.
She whipped her head around in an instant to see Evelyn standing behind her, frozen to the spot.
"Is that... the police?"
