Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Stay away from her!
My eyes widened with surprise and shock as soon as those words tumbled out of his mouth. My lips parted as I tried to speak but no words came out of my mouth, instead, I was watching him look at me with those light blue eyes and a slight smile that graced his lips. I felt as though I was transported back in time, to the first time he said those words to me, back when Stella wasn’t exactly in the picture yet.
My eyes darted around the place anxiously as I contemplated my next few words.
"Blake..." his name left my lips in a soft voice as my eyes landed back on his hopeful ones. "I don’t love you anymore. Things have changed," I told him, my sharp words stabbing right at his chest and piercing into his heart.
I watched as the colours from his face drained within the next second as he took a step back with a blank expression that masked his features.
"You don’t love me anymore?" He asked as his voice cracked towards the end of the sentence and hurt flashed past his eyes for a split second. The bouquet that he was once holding fell onto the ground with a soft thud as the petals broke away and fell from each flower.
Without a single warning, he reached up to grab me by my shoulders, shaking me vigorously as his fingernails dug into my skin through the fabric of my blouse. I watched as his demeanour shifted entirely within a split second.
"What changed, Aurelia?" He questioned. "One second you were my wife and now you are telling me you don’t love me anymore? How... How is that possible?!" His voice boomed loudly, catching the attention of some people walking around the office lobby by now.
From the corners of my eyes, I could sense people’s eyes fixated on us as they watched the scene unravel before their eyes with anticipation hanging on their faces.
I reached up to shove his hands away from me this time, letting his arms fall back to his sides.
"It’s been a long time since we have been divorced, Blake," I reminded, my harsh words snapping him right back to reality despite my calm demeanour. "I’m married to Xavier now. You and I are over... and I wish to keep it that way," I said coldly, my face void of any emotions as I barely glanced at the bouquet of flowers that had fallen onto the ground.
The moment those words left the tip of my tongue, I spun my heels and was ready to leave when I felt him grab me by my wrist, his fingers holding me in a tight grasp.
"Let me go!" I demanded through gritted teeth as I glared at him and tried to yank my arm out of his grasp.
"No," he shook his head as he tightened his grip. "I’m not letting you go anywhere!" The words that left his lips were laced with anger as rage spread through his body like a wildfire and his heart pounded loudly against his chest.
It was at this moment when a familiar deep voice pierced through the tension that was brewing in the air between us.
"She told you to let her go!" The voice boomed loudly and I immediately whipped my head around to see Xavier standing at a distance with his jaws clenched tightly and his face darkened visibly.
He didn’t waste any time as he marched over within the next second, closing the distance between us in a few large strides. I looked down to see that his fists were balled up tightly next to him and I could even see his knuckles were starting to turn white from how hard he was clenching them.
"You can’t–" The words barely left the tip of Blake’s tongue when he was quickly met with a swift punch to his jaw and pain shot through his body in an instant, causing him to grimace in pain.
A loud gasp erupted from the crowd at that very moment as they watched the scene unfold before their own eyes. I watched as Blake stumbled a couple of steps back before he finally found his balance once again, his hand sticking out to hold onto a nearby pillar to steady himself from the sudden blow. Naturally, his hand reached up to wipe the corner of his lip that was stained with blood as his gaze was fixated on Xavier.
Xavier’s dark brown eyes were swirling with anger as rage pulsed through every single vein inside of him. He grabbed me by my arm and pulled me to his side as he stood in front of me, putting himself between Blake and I.
He was glaring at Blake with his eyes narrowed into thin slits, it was almost as if he wanted him buried six feet underground.
"What are you doing here?!" Xavier questioned, spitting the words out like they were poison in his mouth as his voice shook with anger. His gaze remained steady while his lips were pressed into a thin line. "I told you not to bother Aurelia anymore, she’s my wife now."
SIlence stretched between them and his eyes flickered down to glance at the bouquet of flowers lying on the ground as he let out a loud scoff. "You brought her flowers too? Who do you think you are?" He questioned, his tone carrying a sharp edge to it.
A cold chuckle erupted from Blake’s parted lips as he lifted his head to meet Xavier’s intense gaze.
"I wasn’t bothering her. I simply brought the flowers to thank her for believing in my dreams and supporting me."
"There’s no need for that," Xavier said coldly as he sneered with a disdainful scorn. His eyes were narrowed into thin slits as he stared at him. "My wife doesn’t need flowers from you, I can give her flowers, bouquets that are much bigger and nicer than those ever will be," he retorted, his voice laced with a hint of jealousy.
Blake stepped forward, closing the gap between them and he leaned in closer, their faces now merely inches apart from one another.
"You don’t get to dictate what I can and cannot do," he snarled.
"I can and I will. Stay away from Aurelia."
"You –"
Xavier interrupted him, cutting him off before he could even finish his sentence. "I’m going to give you two choices. You can either walk out of here yourself or I will personally drag you out from my office lobby."
"So..." He drawled intentionally, his voice trailing off as he arched a brow at him. "Which one will it be?"
***
"Well... if it isn’t the slut herself?" The sharp voice pierced through the air and reached my ears, taunting me.
I turned off the tap and the water stopped running. I snapped my head around and I found myself looking right into a pair of familiar dark brown eyes. Recognition crossed my face and I realised I was staring at Stella who was standing by the entrance of the toilet.
A frown immediately crept onto my face as I kept my gaze steady.
"What do you want Stella?" I questioned, my tone carrying a slight edge to it.
The corners of her lips curled upwards into a knowing smile. "What do I want?" She repeated, tossing the words right back at me with an incredulous look plastered across her face. She stepped closer towards me, closing the distance between us as her arms were folded over her chest. "Oh, nothing much," she said, the words that left her lips dripping with sarcasm.
It was at this moment when realisation dawned upon me when the thoughts in my head finally clicked.
"You were the one who asked Catherine to get me down to the studio, aren’t you?"
She smirked. "Bingo. I just wanted to know why Blake was giving you a bouquet of flowers at your office lobby in broad daylight!" she said, spitting the words out like they were poison in her mouth.
I raised my brow at her as amusement danced in my eyes. "Were you stalking me or something?"
She let a cold chuckle erupt from her throat. "Stalking you?" She repeated. "Gosh, please. I am an actress now. Do you think I have time for that? Of course not, my friend saw it and sent me this picture," she snarled with a disdainful scorn as she raised her phone and shoved it close to my face.
She leaned in closer this time, our faces were now barely a few inches apart. "Are you not ashamed of seducing someone else’s boyfriend?!" She sneered as her dark brown eyes were narrowed into thin slits and she was glaring right at me.
This time, a chuckle left my parted lips as a slight smirk tugged at the corners of my lips. I kept my gaze steady, my eyes holding hers captive.
"I didn’t seduce anyone’s boyfriend," I said as my voice remained unwavering and my eyes gleamed with a knowing look. "But between the both of us, you should know better, don’t you?"
