Chapter 143: Guilty or not guilty?
Chapter 143: Chapter 143: Guilty or not guilty?
The courtroom soon descended into chaos as everyone watched the scene unravel before their eyes with shock and surprise.
Impulse clouded his judgement and all sense of rationality was thrown right out of the window, disappearing into thin air.
Without a single warning, Xavier pushed him, throwing Aaron onto the ground. I watched with shock and also a hint of satisfaction as he started punching him in his head repeatedly as his body loomed over his. His eyes were burning with a fiery blaze and his face was filled with pure rage and anger that was coursing through his body at this moment. He clenched his jaws tightly and one could even hear the sound of Aaron’s jaw cracking with each hit.
A loud yelp left Aaron’s parted lips as pain shot through his body. "Ahh! Get him off of me! He demanded, shouting through gritted teeth. He raised both his arms to shield himself from the punches as he grimaced in pain.
"Bailiff!"
It didn’t last very long as they came running in to tackle Xavier onto the ground and pulling him away from Aaron, separating the two men by creating some distance between them. Xavier was still breathing heavily, his chest rising up and down in a rhythmic manner as he glared at Aaron with a deadly look plastered across his face.
"I hope you fucking rot in jail!" Xavier screamed but Aaron only looked at him with zero remorse in his eyes as the corners of his lips even curled upwards into a satisfied smirk. Within the next second, the bailiff promptly removed him from the courtroom, not even giving him a chance to protest or fight back.
And now it was finally time, the time everyone had been waiting for. The verdict was being read.
Silence settled among us for what seemed like an eternity as my heart thumped loudly against my chest, threatening to burst out at any second and my mind was buzzing with thoughts.
"We found the defendant..." The voice trailed off, feeling like there was a long pause in between even when it was barely a second. Anticipation and nervousness swirled in the depths of my dark eyes as I waited for the words I have been wanting to hear. "...guilty of attempted murder."
I let out the breath I had been holding and almost broke down immediately after as tears of relief started streaming down my face. Hearing his sentence being read out in front of him and seeing the smirk being instantly wiped off his face and the colour draining from his face was an entertaining sight to behold.
I couldn’t help but to feel happy for Serena as well. She can finally truly be free from that horrible man after all those years, and she can start afresh. I locked eyes with Serena from a distance and the corners of my lips curved upwards into a slight smile with relief evident on our faces.
The moment I stepped out of the court, my eyes scanned the area and I found myself looking right into Xavier’s eyes. I let my lips curl upwards into a smile as I rushed towards him and wrapped my arms around his torso, burying my face in his chest.
I murmured against his chest. "We did it, Aaron is sentenced to 10 years in prison." I lifted my head to look up and meet his eyes. "He will rot in jail after all."

News has spread faster than a wildfire as multiple online channels have started to pick up on this piece of seemingly exciting news.
I have personally heard that Blake had made Stella the main actress of the new movie he was set to direct. And of course, she was selected under the pretense that they weren’t in any sort of intimate relationship, else that might cause some controversy in this industry, as expected.
I wasn’t upset or angry or feeling anything negative of that sort, to be very honest. In fact, when I first learnt about it, I couldn’t help but to smile as my eyes gleamed with delight. I was going to help them keep it a secret... for now, at least.
Afterall, they just made my revenge a whole lot easier.
I was invited on set today by one of the producers who I was working closely with. Neither Blake nor Stella knew it, but I was the one who gave them this opportunity that they have been yearning for, for the longest time ever.
As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted warmly by the producer friend I have been talking to.
"Hey, Aurelia!" She greeted as the corners of her lips curved upwards into a bright smile. "It’s so nice to see you again."
I returned the smile, leaning in to give her a hug. "So nice seeing you here, Catherine. How have you been?"
"Great!" She exclaimed cheerily. "Honestly, I’m so excited about this new project. It’s my first time working with Blake though. Fingers crossed that everything will turn out alright."
The smile etched onto my face widened this time. "Of course, this is so exciting," silence lapsed between us for a brief moment before I spoke up again. "I have heard many great things about him. I’m certain the movie will turn out great and it will be fun."
She placed her hand on my shoulder as her gaze met mine. "Well, this is all thanks to you and your husband’s generous sponsorship, else we wouldn’t have been able to make it this far."
A soft chuckle left my parted lips. "It’s because we believe in the movie. Well, it’s a pity he’s busy today, so he’s unable to come visit the set." The words barely left the tip of my tongue when I was rudely interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Aurelia?" I heard someone call my name and instantly, I whipped my head around to find myself coming face to face with my ex-husband. "What are you doing here?" He asked with a raised brow but his tone carried a slight edge to it as we locked eyes from a distance.
The air crackled with unspoken tension but I let a smile grace my lips.
"I was invited by Catherine to come visit the set," I said nonchalantly, the smile still lingering on my lips as I kept my gaze steady.
I watched as Blake turned to look at Catherine with a puzzled expression that masked his features. "You invited her here? Why?" He questioned, his voice laced with a hint of confusion as a frown crept onto his face to rest between his brows. "Are you guys friends or something? I didn’t know we could just bring in anyone we wanted to."
Catherine mirrored his expression as a frown was etched onto her face. "What do you mean why? Do you not know that –"
I cut her off before she could finish her sentence as I placed my hand on her arm. "That’s fine, no need to explain too much to him, he will understand soon," I said. "I can’t wait to look around the set," I remarked and pulled her away, leaving Blake dumbfounded as I turned around and didn’t spare him another glance.
It was later on when I found myself standing at the corner observing the scene quietly when Stella locked eyes with me for a split second. It wasn’t too long after when I heard someone call out to me, startling me slightly as a soft surprised gasp emerged from my throat. I looked up to find myself staring into a pair of familiar dark brown eyes that belonged to Stella.
She was just done shooting her scene and she was now walking over towards me with a huge grin plastered across her face as she waved at me enthusiastically. "Hi Aurelia, long time no see!" She greeted, acting as though we were on good terms in front of everyone on set.
I had no choice but to also force my lips to curl upwards into a smile as I greeted her with the same energy. "Hey, Stella!"
She pulled me into a hug, wrapping her arms around me, intentionally squeezing my shoulders tightly while I also squeezed her back before we finally let go of each other, a smile still lingering on our lips.
She turned back to face the rest of them as she announced to everyone present. "I’m going to talk to Aurelia in private, just for a quick catch up, you guys can go ahead to shoot the other scenes first!"
Just like that, she managed to pull me into her own private dressing room where it was now just the two of us. The moment the door closed behind her, her demeanour shifted entirely. She leaned in closer towards me, our faces merely inches apart as she stared at me with her eyes narrowed into thin slits, disdain written all over her face.
Up close, I could see that her makeup was done professionally and even her long dark hair was also styled and tied up neatly for the scene she was about to shoot.
"Why are you here? Who said you could just show up here on set?" She questioned, the words that left her lips were coated with a thick layer of venom. "You don’t belong here."
