Pampered by my Billionaire CEO Husband
Chapter 129: When the day comes

Chapter 129: Chapter 129: When the day comes

He scoffed loudly as the smug look on his face was quickly replaced with anger and his ice blue eyes burned with a fiery blaze, my words instantly wiping the smirk off his face. My eyes flickered down to glance at his clenched fists beside his body as his face darkened visibly.

SIlence stretched between us momentarily before he inhaled deeply and broke the silence.

"What did you just say? Did you just call me stupid... again?" He questioned, spitting the words out like they were poison in his mouth as he narrowed his eyes into thin slits, glaring right at me. "You better watch your mouth, Aurelia," he sneered with a disdainful scorn, my name left his lips in a tone filled with contempt.

I raised my eyebrow at him as I kept my gaze steady. "And so what if I did? I’m not afraid to admit that I’m just telling the truth," I retorted bravely, unfazed by the supposedly intimidating look that was plastered across his face. "I just feel sorry for you, really," I emphasised, my tone stressing the last word that left my lips.

"That’s not the truth. I am not stupid. How am I being stupid?" He yelled out, his voice shaking with anger as he reached out to shove my shoulder without a single warning. "I don’t need you to feel sorry for me," he snapped, the words that left his lips were filled with malice.

A frown immediately appeared on my face as I pushed his hand off me, my sharp voice piercing through the tension that was lingering in the air between us.

"Don’t touch me," I warned, gritting my teeth as I stared into his blue eyes. "What is wrong with you?" I asked, my tone carrying a sharp edge to it.

Stella quickly clung onto Blake’s arm, pressing her body against his side as she looked up at him to meet his gaze with her wide doe eyes.

"Babe, are you going to let her speak to you that way?" She added, a smirk tugged at the corners of her lips as she purposefully added fuel to the already wildfire that was spreading uncontrollably. She reached up to cup his cheek in her hand. "I cannot stand seeing my sweet boyfriend getting insulted and berated by a woman like her, you need to teach her a lesson, otherwise she won’t learn," she said as she jutted out her bottom lip to pout and batted her lashes innocently while her free hand rubbed his arm in a comforting manner.

A cold chuckle escaped from my parted lips this time as I witnessed the scene unfold before my very own eyes. I arched an eyebrow at her as an incredulous look was stretched across my face.

"You know what? I couldn’t be bothered anymore," I declared, my voice filled with finality and a look of certainty crossed my face.

It is only a matter of time before he will remember everything and the two of them can deal with the problem when it comes back to bite them in their asses one day.

I turned to meet Blake’s eyes this time as my eyes were gleaming with amusement and a smirk morphed itself onto my lips. I stepped forward to close the gap between us, our faces now merely inches apart and Stella eyed me with disdain, pulling him back to create a distance between us.

"I just can’t wait for the day to see the look on your face when you finally find out how stupid you are for being with her this whole time," I taunted as I looked into his eyes with a cold expression that masked my features.

His brows were furrowed together to form a frown on his face. "What the hell are you even –"

I interrupted, cutting him off before he could finish his sentence.

"I did you a favour but since you didn’t want to accept it, then that’s on you. When that day comes, don’t say that I didn’t warn you, Blake Carson."

Stella frowned. "You didn’t do him any favour, what are you even talking about?" She spat with a smug look that was plastered across her face as she tightened her grip on my ex-husband’s arm. "Stop trying to ruin our happy relationship, it is not going to work."

A low chuckle erupted from my throat before I stopped to glare at her with narrowed eyes. "Stella Brooks, if I were you, I would have kept my mouth shut," I threatened then leaned in closer, letting my voice drop to a hush whisper as I murmured next to her ear. "I still have the pictures with me, don’t forget that," I taunted and I leaned back watching her eyes widen with a mixture of anger and fear.

A smirk appeared on my lips this time as my eyes twinkled with a knowing look. "But don’t worry about it. Your secret is safe with me."

A puzzled expression appeared on his face. "What secret?" He asked and turned to meet Stella’s flustered face. "What is she talking about?"

She shook her head. "It’s nothing, don’t worry about it. As usual, she is just trying to turn you against me. It’s nothing new."

A cold chuckle left my lips once again. "Yeah sure. I wish you two a long and happy relationship."

I looked up to meet Xavier’s eyes as I let a smile grace my lips.

"Are you sure I really need to get another dress? I mean... I already have plenty at home. I could just wear one of those," I pointed out.

A soft chuckle left his lips as our eyes met and he casually tucked a piece of stray behind my ear. "Of course you need a new one," he urged as a smile lingered on his lips. "It’s your first award ceremony," he reminded and my mind began to buzz with thoughts.

He was right, that was going to be my first ever award ceremony. My heart was bursting with excitement and happiness. I couldn’t believe how far I have come ever since I was hired as an art tutor for the Lloyd’s family only daughter. I made my first big sale and somehow I am now being invited to attend the prestigious Arts Award Ceremony that was meant to celebrate up and coming artists from all walks of life.

"You deserve to get a new dress to celebrate this huge milestone!" He exclaimed, his voice laced with a hint of excitement for me, breaking me out of my little reverie. "It’s a big thing."

The smile that was etched on my face grew even wider as I gave him a nod. "It is a huge milestone..." I muttered under my breath and I reached to interlace our fingers. "I’m glad you are the one celebrating with me."

"That’s for sure. Come on now, we need to get you a new dress." With that said, he pulled me inside one of the boutiques that caught his eyes. The bell that was hanging above the door jingled as he pushed the door open and we walked in, catching the attention of one of the saleswomen standing around.

She immediately walked over to welcome us in with a bright grin on her face. "Hi, welcome to Enchanté, my name is Julia. How may I assist you today?"

Xavier gestured towards me with a smile on his face, "My wife," he began and I felt my heart skip a beat. Even though it wasn’t the first time hearing him say this, the idea of it still felt so foreign and surreal. "She would like to look for a formal dress. It needs to be special, she needs to love it."

The lady smiled. "Yes, of course. I think we have just the dress for her." She gestured for us to follow her in to sit at one of the couches inside as we patiently waited for her.

From the corner of my eye, I noticed a familiar figure in the corner of the place. She had gotten on her knees and it appeared as though she was rummaging boxes of stuff and arranging the things displayed on the shelf. I was carefully watching her as an odd sense of familiarity washed over me within the next second and my mind began to buzz with thoughts.

"May I get you something to drink?" Julia asked with a smile etched onto her face.

"Oh, sure. Water sounds great."

I watched as she turned around and called out to the woman not too far away from us. "You, go get two glasses of ice water for this couple over here," she demanded and the woman nodded without even turning around and she immediately scurried off to the back.

"Here’s your water," I heard a soft yet familiar voice reach my ears within the next moment.

I quickly whipped my head around and I found myself looking into a pair of familiar eyes that were staring back at me.

"Serena?"
