Chapter 122: Show yourself!

Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Show yourself!

"Aurelia Wilder! Get down here right now!" I could hear the loud voice reach my ears from a distance as the lift doors opened. I looked up, my eyes swept across the area and I found myself looking right at Blake. What the hell is he doing here? A look of surprise flashed past my eyes for a moment and I watched as the guards held him back as he continued to push and shove against them like a mad man. He was ignoring their commands as he continued to yell at the top of his lungs. "Show yourself, Aurelia! Are you scared to face me?!"

I began to walk towards him when I felt someone grab me by my wrist. I whipped my head around and my eyes met Xavier’s eyes, concern and worry swimming in his dark brown eyes. "Aurelia," my name left his lips in a low voice. "Let me handle this."

"It’s okay, I got this," I insisted. Before he could say another word, I was already marching towards Blake.

I stopped before him and crossed my arms over my chest as I looked at him.

"Who said that I am scared to face you?"

Everyone who was watching him now snapped their heads around and their eyes landed on me instead with a look of anticipation plastered across their faces.

My voice immediately got his attention as he looked up and we locked eyes. Within the next second, the corners of his lips twisted upwards into a knowing smirk as his eyes continued to burn with a fiery blaze. He stopped struggling but the guards continued to hold him in a tight grip.

He let out a breath. "Look who finally decided to show up here," he taunted as the smirk on his face grew wider. He tried to yank his arm out of their grip but they only held him tighter, as they glared at him. "I thought you would be hiding up there in your office."

"It’s okay, you can let him go," I instructed casually and they nodded, quickly releasing their grip on him but stayed close. I turned back to face him this time and Xavier remained close to me as he watched quietly. "So, what’s your deal here today?"

He let out a loud scoff. "Don’t play dumb with me, Aurelia," he sneered with a disdainful scorn. He leaned in closer to murmur next to my ear, his voice dropping to a hush whisper. "I am going to expose you in front of everyone here and ruin your life. The world needs to know what kind of person you truly are," he threatened through gritted teeth as he clenched his jaw tightly but I remained unfazed by his threats.

He leaned back and he kept his eyes on me. "You should know what you have done!"

A cold chuckle escaped my parted lips as I stepped forward, closing the gap between us. "And what exactly have I done, Blake Carson?" I questioned, my tone carrying a sharp edge to it. "I don’t have all day trying to guess."

I watched as he walked towards the crowd and pulled a woman out from inside. I wasn’t shocked when I found myself looking right at Stella who had this pitiful look etched onto her face as she kept her head low while Blake had his fingers curled around her arm.

"You don’t have to guess, I will tell everyone here exactly what you did!" He spat the words out like they were poison in his mouth as he gestured towards the crowd that surrounded us. With his finger jutted out, he turned to point directly at me as he spoke. "This woman over here. She may look all nice and innocent, but don’t be fooled by her appearance! She is actually a devious and horrible woman," he snarled, stressing on the last two words that left his lips.

"Yesterday, she threatened and attacked my girlfriend like an animal!" He declared.

Murmurs and gossips started to fill the air, mixing with the tension that was already lingering in the air.

"How could she do that..."

"Attacked? Gosh, that’s crazy," another remarked, casting a judgemental glare my way.

My eyes widened with disbelief at his blatant accusation. I looked over at him and I couldn’t hold back the low chuckle that emerged from my throat.

"I threatened and attacked her?" I repeated with an incredulous look plastered across my face. "Did she tell you that?"

Stella kept her head hung low as she shook her head and tugged at his arm, continuing to be pitiful. "Blake, don’t do it. It’s okay," she muttered under her breath, witnessing this scene was laughable, knowing that she was fully cheating on him with another man yet he is defending her.

"No, it’s not okay," he insisted. "You are injured because of her!" He reminded her, pulling up her sleeve to reveal the tiny cuts on her arm, putting it on display for everyone to see.

A gasp erupted from the crowd and she quickly pulled her sleeve back down, averting her eyes. "It’s just some minor injuries," she pretended to explain but I could notice the smirk that was tugging at the corners of her lips as we made eye contact for a brief moment.

A frown crept onto his face. "It’s not just some minor injuries, Stella. Stop trying to defend her."

Not being able to hold back his anger any longer, Xavier lashed out at her with his fists clenched tightly beside him. "You can drop the act. I saw what happened yesterday and she –"

"It’s okay, babe," I urged as I placed my hand on his arm, interrupting him mid-sentence.

"He is right, she doesn’t need to defend me because I did nothing," I continued and they whipped their heads around to look at me, waiting for me to say something. "I don’t know where she got those injuries from, but it sure ain’t because of me. I didn’t attack her like you... or she claimed."

Blake’s eyes grew wide with anger. "You –"

Stella was looking at me with that same pitiful look etched onto her face. "Are you trying to say that I faked my own injuries and I am accusing you of something you didn’t do? Why would I do something like this?"

Amusement danced in my dark brown eyes as I kept my gaze steady, a smirk morphing itself onto my lips. "I didn’t say anything about you faking your injuries," I said and there was a moment of pause and silence stretched between us as her eyes darted around anxiously, struggling to find the right words to say.

"I... I..." she stammered as though I had caught her red-handed, and Blake immediately butted in, coming to her defence as expected.

"You are scaring her, Aurelia. What is wrong with you?"

I raised my brow at him, my eyes twinkling with defiance. "Oh, am I? Am I scaring her, or was it me knowing that she faked her injuries that scared her? Which one is it?" I mocked, the words that left my lips were dripping with sarcasm and malice.

His cheeks were flushed red and anger was spreading inside of him like a wildfire. "She didn’t fake anything!" He insisted. "If you kneel down here in front of everyone and apologise to her and ask for her forgiveness then I won’t pursue this matter. I will take it as though nothing happened."

A snicker left my lips as I saw the smug expression that masked Stella’s features. "No thanks, that won’t be happening. There’s nothing for you to pursue anyway. If you want, you better find sufficient evidence and take me to court." As soon as the words left my lips, I spun on my heels to leave when he roughly yanked me by my arm, pulling me back.

"Don’t be acting so smug and arrogant, who said you can leave?! You are not leaving until you apologise!" He demanded as rage swirled in the depths of his eyes and he was breathing heavily.

In a split second, I watched as Xavier’s face darkened visibly and he stepped forward to push him away, creating a distance between us. "Don’t touch her," he warned through gritted teeth.

I let out a breath as I lifted my head to meet Blake’s icy blue eyes. "I didn’t want to say this at first, but you leave me with no choice," I began. "You know there’s something you don’t know, something that someone is hiding from you," I revealed and watched as the colour drained from Stella’s face when she realised what was happening.

I could feel her glaring at me as if warning me not to say another word but I didn’t care, she cannot threaten me with Serena again. I ignored her burning eyes and kept my eyes fixated on Blake who had a confused look on his face as his brows were knitted together.

"What are you talking about?"

I smiled as I reached up to pull down my collar, revealing the finger marks and bruises on my neck inflicted by Aaron.

"See this? Want to know who did this to me?"

Stella’s eyes grew wider, almost bulging out of her eye sockets but it was too late, she couldn’t stop me as I let the words roll off the tip of my tongue.

"It was the man that Stella has been cheating on you with!"
