Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 63: Selfless Love

Chapter 63: Selfless Love

Damien never minded how Emma spent the money he provided.

Emma, however, began to panic. "My grandmother?" Recalling her grandmother’s behavior during the day, she grabbed her phone to call, but her grandmother didn’t answer.

"You don’t need to buy houses. Just tell me, and you can pick any – a garden house or a villa, whichever you prefer," Damien’s eyes were cold, his disdain for Emma evident.

Money was spent, and he never grumbled, so why hide?

This woman is really inconsistent, she says one thing and does another.

The next day, Emma, furious, rushed to her grandmother’s house.

Upon arrival, she found people busily moving things. "What’s happening here?"

Seeing Emma, her grandmother’s face lit up with joy. "Emma, you’re here? Help us pack, we’re moving to a new house."

"What? Grandmother, did you use my card to buy a house?"

Emma was astounded to find not a trace of remorse in her grandmother, who instead stood arrogantly.

"Yes, I signed the contract yesterday. It’s a move-in-ready house. Your mother and I are very pleased with it. After all the effort I put into raising you, don’t I deserve something in return?"

"Emma, you can’t be so heartless towards your grandmother and your mother. If it’s not okay to buy the house, we can just move in with you."

Emma Hart was at a loss for words against her grandmother’s unreasonable claims, her mere objections branded as heartless.

"Where is the card? I’ll return the house!"

"Emma Hart!" her grandmother scolded from behind, "If you dare sell that house, don’t expect to live a peaceful life."

Tears welled up in Emma’s eyes as she faced her grandmother. "Do you think I’m living a good life now? It doesn’t matter to me, do as you please."

Seeing Emma’s firm stance, her grandmother knew the consequences of losing this financial support.

Her demeanor changed instantly, handing the card back to Emma, "Grandma and your mother are getting old. If I fall ill, wouldn’t that burden your mother? This is the last time, I promise."

Emma stepped out of the door, vowing never to return, never to see her grandmother again.

Yet, she despised her own inability to make that final break, hating her own timidity and insignificance.

As she walked down the alley, a commotion caught her attention. To her shock, it was Ethan Turner at the center of it.

Without a second thought, Emma rushed over.

"What’s happening here?"

The tattooed men sized up Emma. "Mind your own business. This guy owes us money and won’t pay. What do you think we should do?"

Emma glanced at Ethan, who nodded helplessly.

She froze. Wasn’t this what she wanted, to see him suffer? Shouldn’t she be rejoicing at his misery? The harm he caused her, even if these men beat him to death, would never be enough to settle the score.

However, seeing the men getting the cue from their boss, one of them tightened his grip on Ethan’s shirt and threw a fierce punch at his face. Ethan’s cries of agony pierced the air.

Emma had turned away, but at the sound of Ethan’s cries, she spun back around. "How much does he owe you? I’ll pay it back for him!"

Despite her reservations, Emma Hart couldn’t remain silent. She couldn’t bear to watch Ethan Turner being savagely beaten by the men.

The man released Ethan, who slumped weakly against the wall.

Bruised and battered, Ethan was an amalgamation of pain and despair.

The man, not yet satisfied, delivered another harsh kick. "Lucky guy, attracting such concern," he sneered.

Emma followed the men to an office building, withdrawing money with the card to settle Ethan’s debt.

Ethan was waiting downstairs, looking remorseful. Emma didn’t want to interact with him, exasperated by his persistent reappearance in her life.

"Emma, I’m sorry," Ethan said, seeming sincere.

"How did you end up owing so much?" Emma asked coldly.

Ethan’s face was a mask of shame.

"After I got together with Natalie Black, my salary was never enough for her lavish lifestyle. So, I borrowed money to keep up, but it was never enough. The debt just kept mounting..."

"Such selfless love," Emma remarked sarcastically, her scorn directed not just at Ethan but also at herself.

"Emma, I will pay you back!" Ethan Turner’s voice, blending with the desolate space behind him, carried a sense of loneliness as he called out to Emma Hart, who didn’t look back.

The cold wind whistled, and Emma closed her eyes, fighting back tears while defiantly lifting her head. She and Ethan were inevitably drifting apart.

In the vastness of his office, perhaps only Damien Sterling was worthy of such opulence in the entire city.

The cold, colorless decor felt oppressive, devoid of any adornments – a reflection of the atmosphere Damien likely preferred, reminiscent of an ancient palace, desolate within its high walls.

A man stood before Damien, cautiously reporting, "Mr. Sterling, this is all the data we could gather on Emma Hart over the last three years, including call logs, text messages, and even hotel bookings."

"Get to the point."

"Based on the data, Emma Hart is a modest and healthy woman. She’s only had one boyfriend, Ethan Turner."

Damien massaged his temples. "Anything else?"

He already knew this. What he really wanted to confirm was whether the child Emma carried could possibly belong to someone else.

Her actions always stirred doubt in him; her thoughts seemed at odds with everyone else’s, an embodiment of contradiction.

On the other side, the private detective has sent in Emma Hart’s entire day’s formation.

Damien clicked to open the email. As his eyes scanned the photos on the screen, his face darkened instantly, the room’s temperature seeming to drop with his mood.

Grabbing his suit jacket, Damien prepared to leave.

The secretary, caught off guard by Damien’s sudden move, hastily called the driver, "Prepare the car."

In the expansive villa, Emma Hart returned, as if clocking in daily to a prison, never before feeling such physical and emotional exhaustion.
