Chapter 440: An Unexpected Visitor

"Mr. Taylor, it’s like this. Riley had some urgent business at your company, so we were waiting for a car here. But there was a bit of a conflict with the driver, and now we’re not sure what to do," Emma Hart explained to Matthew Taylor. She was also uneasy about Riley Turner leaving with the previous driver, who didn’t seem trustworthy.

"I see. How about I give you a ride? I left something at the office and was considering going back to get it," Matthew Taylor suggested after thinking for a moment.

"That’s what you get for not watching where you’re going," came a mocking male voice from behind her.

"Mr. Sterling, what are you doing here?" Emma Hart quickly stood up, not wanting to embarrass herself in front of this man.

"Technically, this is my territory too. Why wouldn’t I be here?" Damien Sterling replied as he dusted off Emma Hart’s backside.

"I have some good news for you. Want to hear it?" Emma Hart asked.

"What good news?" Damien Sterling seemed to be in a great mood, with a hint of joy in his eyes.

"I ran into Matthew Taylor at the gate! He gave Riley a ride to City B, and they should be back together tonight," Emma Hart explained.

"Matthew Taylor? Why is he here?" Damien Sterling’s brow furrowed. He suspected Matthew Taylor’s visit wasn’t entirely friendly.

"He said he called your secretary this morning to schedule a meeting but was told you were on a business trip. So, he decided to come on his own. Isn’t that impressive?" Emma Hart was somewhat impressed by Matthew Taylor’s determination.

"You mean Matthew Taylor found his way here on his own intuition? Ha! I doubt it’s that simple," Damien Sterling scoffed.

Damien Sterling’s response left Emma Hart feeling uneasy. Why did it seem like they were enemies when they were supposed to be partners?

"Alright, these aren’t your concerns. Didn’t you want to play with the kids today? I’ll join you." Damien Sterling said as he put his arm around Emma Hart and headed toward the new restaurant.

Inside the restaurant, the children excitedly gathered around Emma Hart, clamoring to play games with her.

"Alright, stop apologizing. Why are you going to my company?" Matthew Taylor got to the point.
