Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 413: A Safe Adventure

Chapter 413: A Safe Adventure

"But isn’t this a bit inappropriate?" Emma Hart’s gaze was unsteady. Although she was in a hurry, having Matthew Taylor give her a ride seemed less than suitable.

"What’s the harm in it? We’re friends, after all. Plus, if you’re in a rush, it’s better to take my car. It’s hard to get a cab at this time." Matthew Taylor said with a smile.

Emma Hart hesitated.

Matthew Taylor continued, "If we’re any later, Mr. Sterling will probably be home already! My car is parked in the underground garage of the Great Hall."

"Well, I’d be grateful, Mr. Taylor," Emma Hart finally agreed. As long as she got home before Damien Sterling, everything would be fine.

With that, Emma Hart followed Matthew Taylor towards the underground garage.

Seeing Matthew Taylor’s car, Emma Hart’s eyes lit up. It seemed she had a good chance of beating Damien Sterling home.

"Please, get in." Matthew Taylor opened the door of his black Porsche sports car for Emma Hart.

Once inside and buckled up, Matthew Taylor drove out of the garage.

"Mr. Taylor, could you drive a bit faster?" Emma Hart asked, embarrassed.

"Of course!" Matthew Taylor replied, turning to give Emma Hart a warm smile.

"By the way, where are you headed?" Matthew Taylor suddenly remembered an important detail.

"To the A-group villas," Emma Hart replied.

"Got it. Hold on tight!" Matthew Taylor said, suddenly accelerating and speeding through the streets.

Emma Hart’s heart raced; it felt just like a roller coaster.

In no time, they were driving through the outskirts, with the surroundings becoming as quiet as the car’s interior.

Matthew Taylor gradually slowed down.

"Emma, how do you think my driving is?" Matthew Taylor asked confidently.

"It’s like you’re a driving god." Emma Hart thought that car enthusiasts liked to be complimented this way.

"Haha, you flatter me. By the way, why did you sneak out today?" Matthew Taylor asked.

Emma Hart smiled inwardly; she had expected this topic.

"I was just a bit worried about Mr. Sterling, so I came out to check on him," Emma Hart answered vaguely.

"I see," Matthew Taylor responded, half-understanding. He could guess the general situation even if Emma Hart didn’t explain.

Typically, when a woman goes to great lengths to follow a man, unless it’s due to smoking, drinking, or gambling, it often means she suspects him of seeing someone else. Clearly, Damien Sterling wouldn’t touch the first three.

Matthew Taylor began to devise a plan in his mind.

"By the way, Emma, it’s a shame you missed the meeting today," Matthew Taylor said.

"Why do you say that?" Emma Hart was puzzled. Business forums are usually boring, aren’t they?

"There was a lot of good food today, and many attendees brought their spouses. You wouldn’t believe how many beautiful women approached Mr. Sterling." Matthew Taylor said meaningfully.

Emma Hart’s brows furrowed unconsciously, her eyes fixed ahead.

So that’s why he didn’t want to bring her to the forum. It’s just male nature, isn’t it? They’d only been together for less than two years, and he was already tired of her?

"Don’t worry, Mr. Sterling has great self-control!" Matthew Taylor said, noticing Emma Hart’s sudden downcast expression. He felt a surge of satisfaction.

"We’re here," Matthew Taylor announced.

The Porsche had unknowingly arrived at the entrance to the villa complex. Emma Hart rolled down the window and greeted the security guard, who then allowed them to enter.

Emma Hart directed Matthew Taylor to park at the back door of their villa and then got out of the car herself.

"Thank you so much for today, Mr. Taylor. I, Emma Hart, owe you one. If you ever need a favor, just ask!" Emma Hart said to Matthew Taylor.

"Alright, I’ll hold you to that. You better get inside now. See you next time!" Matthew Taylor responded warmly.

Emma Hart nodded, waved, and then climbed over the villa’s back door.

Matthew Taylor was stunned by this sight. It took him a few seconds to recover before he laughed and said, "What an interesting woman." With that, he drove away.

At the villa complex entrance, Damien Sterling’s car happened to pass Matthew Taylor’s car as he was leaving.

Damien Sterling, sitting in the back seat of his white sedan, glanced at the man in the driver’s seat of the Porsche. That profile looked just like Matthew Taylor’s.

Emma Hart, retracing her steps from when she left, clambered back over the wall to return.

This time, it was much more hasty and clumsy because she was racing against Damien Sterling.

She jumped from the small stone wall into the little bedroom.

Without stopping, she ran to her room.

She hid her dirty clothes deep in the closet, changed into slippers, and put on a headband, then quickly walked to the staircase.

The TV was playing cartoons, and Mrs. Harris and the two children were asleep on the couch.

Emma Hart finally felt relieved. Damien Sterling hadn’t returned yet, and they seemed unaware she had been gone for so long.

She walked down the stairs quietly and gently tapped Mrs. Harris on the shoulder.

"Mrs. Harris?"

Mrs. Harris’s body jolted slightly before she slowly opened her eyes.

"Emma, you’re awake? You must be hungry. I’ll heat up some food for you." With that, Mrs. Harris got up and headed to the kitchen.

Emma Hart poured herself a glass of cool water and drank it quickly, feeling a bit proud of her actions.

Soon, she heard the sound of a car door closing outside. It must be Damien Sterling returning.

Emma Hart hurried to the door to greet him, waving and smiling at the man approaching the house.

"How was your day at home?" The man asked, not even having changed his shoes, as he hurriedly wrapped his arms around her waist.

"I slept all day, it was so boring," Damien Sterling kissed her on the cheek.

"All done with business, we can continue having fun tomorrow," Damien Sterling said as he walked into the house.

Hearing from Mrs. Harris that Emma Hart hadn’t had dinner yet, Damien Sterling joined her at the dining table and drank some soup.

"By the way, when I was driving into the villa, I thought I saw Matthew Taylor’s car," Damien Sterling mentioned casually.

"Really? Mr. Taylor is in France too?" Emma Hart asked, feigning surprise.

"Yeah, he’s here for the conference too," Damien Sterling said as he focused on his bowl of chicken soup.

Emma Hart didn’t know how to respond, feeling very nervous. She worried that saying too much might give her away.

So, the two of them quietly continued eating their food.
