Chapter 406: Fun on the Clouds( Part 2)
"Excuse me, ma’am. I’m sorry to disturb you. We noticed you didn’t eat your meal. Was there something wrong with it?" the flight attendant asked gently.
"Oh, no," Emma Hart replied quickly, shaking her head. It was just her personal issue.
The flight attendant handed her the milk with a warm smile. "We prepared this warm milk especially for you. If you’re not feeling well, please have some milk to warm your stomach."
With the attendant’s kind offer, Emma Hart had no choice but to accept. She thanked her and took the milk.
Emma Hart glanced at Damien Sterling; this man was ignoring her. Fine, if he didn’t care, neither would she. She turned her attention to the steaming cup of milk on her small table, its sweet aroma wafting up. Despite her anger, she couldn’t neglect her hunger. Emma downed the milk in a few gulps and called the flight attendant to bring her lunch.
Damien Sterling sat nearby, seemingly indifferent, but he was actually observing Emma’s every move. Seeing her take care of herself and not remain upset with him was a relief.
The flight from Tokyo to Paris took about 13 hours. As promised, the elderly man swapped seats with Emma halfway through the journey. Reluctantly, she returned to her seat next to Damien Sterling.
Emma pulled her hoodie over her head, plugged in her earphones, and leaned against the side to sleep, determined not to acknowledge Damien.
Damien Sterling, proud and not one to easily admit fault, was frustrated with Emma’s cold shoulder. Occasionally, he pounded his fist on the armrest in annoyance. After a while, he got up and walked to the other end of the plane.
Emma noticed the movement and reluctantly opened one eye, seeing Damien pass by. Where was he going? What was he up to? Looking for another woman? She wondered.
Fine, whatever he did was no longer her concern. Once they landed, she would buy a new ticket and fly back to City A.
Despite her tough words, Emma still thought about Damien. She occasionally glanced in the direction he had gone.
To her surprise, she saw a scene that made her grit her teeth. Damien was laughing and chatting with the flight attendant who had brought the milk earlier, and the attendant was holding his arm.
Infuriated, Emma stood up and locked eyes with Damien for a few seconds, her gaze full of anger. Realizing something was wrong, she hurried past him towards the restroom.
She had promised herself not to care about him anymore, so why was she so upset?
Inside the restroom, Emma turned on the faucet. The sound of cold water filled the small space as she frantically rubbed her hands, trying to calm down. Water splashed all over her.
Just as she reached her breaking point, there was a knock on the door. "Hello, is anyone in there?" came a sweet voice, likely the flight attendant’s.
"Sorry, just a moment." Despite her quarrel with Damien, she couldn’t embarrass herself further. She grabbed some tissues and quickly cleaned up the mess she had made before stepping out.
A long line had formed outside, with everyone looking impatient. She had been in there longer than she realized.
"Sorry, everyone," Emma apologized in English, fabricating a quick excuse, and walked back to first class.
Back at her seat, Damien Sterling was still chatting with the flight attendant.
Perhaps noticing Emma Hart’s gaze, the flight attendant instinctively looked up and saw Emma, drenched and standing a short distance away. She smiled in a somewhat superior manner and asked, "Hello, do you need anything?" Emma’s face darkened slightly.
On her way back to her seat, Emma brushed past the flight attendant, then sat down, put on her headphones, and assumed an indifferent, detached demeanor.
"Miss, can I add you on social media?" Damien Sterling asked.
The flight attendant happily agreed, and they exchanged social media contacts. Hearing this, Emma instantly looked up. She pinched Damien’s thigh and then walked to the economy class, where she casually engaged in a fluent conversation in French with a blond, blue-eyed boy, and switched seats with him.
Damien Sterling hadn’t anticipated this move. Knowing they were heading to Paris, Emma had used her free time in Japan to brush up on her French.
The blond boy who switched seats with Emma looked apologetically at Damien before sitting next to him. Damien watched Emma happily chatting with the boy’s friend in her new seat. His clenched fist showed veins bulging in anger.
"Move!" Damien growled at the boy next to him before storming towards Emma.
How dare she blatantly chat with another man in front of him? She would pay for this.
"Emma Hart!" Damien’s voice seethed with rage as he approached her.
"What? What do you want?" Emma snapped back. She knew this man well and understood how furious he must be, but she couldn’t control herself anymore. Even the meekest person would fight back when pushed too far.
Damien glanced at the boy sitting next to Emma, who looked frightened and sensed trouble was brewing. Ignoring him, Damien grabbed Emma’s slender arm without any gentleness and hissed, "Must you really do this?" She was pushing him to his limit.
Emma’s heart raced, her body trembling slightly as she recalled the violent actions Damien had taken when they first met.
"Let go of me!" Emma mustered the courage to demand.
Damien laughed, a sinister smile spreading across his face. He sneered and dragged Emma towards the first-class restroom.
With a loud bang, he slammed the door shut. Even the first-class flight attendants were helpless, knowing all too well about the unruly behavior of the boss of Sterling Group.
In the confined space, they were almost pressed against each other. Damien’s hand tightened around Emma’s neck. Tears streamed down her face as she frantically pounded on his hand with her fists, her sobs trapped in her throat.
Suddenly, Damien released her, and she collapsed to the floor, clutching her head and crying in pain. She curled up in the corner of the tiny restroom, looking small enough to be completely enveloped by one hand.
