Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 404: The Bonfire Night

Chapter 404: The Bonfire Night

Emma Hart had always dreamed of dancing with her beloved at a bonfire night.

When Damien Sterling saw the smile on Emma Hart’s face and the star-like sparkle in her eyes, he knew she was particularly excited about this bonfire night.

Damien Sterling smiled and said, "Since we’re here, we can’t miss it, right?" He turned to look at Emma Hart as he spoke.

"Can we really? But we have to leave for the airport early tomorrow morning. Aren’t you worried about being tired?" Emma Hart asked.

"It doesn’t matter, as long as you’re happy," Damien Sterling replied. How could he refuse when she looked at him with eyes like a kitten yearning for its owner’s embrace?

"It’s nice for you two to have dance partners. I’m the only single one here and don’t know what to do," Donald said helplessly, recalling how he’d been bombarded with their affection since he first met Damien Sterling and Emma Hart.

"You must have a girl you like. Just be bold and ask her," Damien Sterling suggested, having noticed Donald being particularly friendly to a girl in the class today.

"That’s easy for you to say," Donald retorted, rolling his eyes at Damien Sterling.

"For me, getting a girl is that simple," Damien Sterling whispered in Donald’s ear.

The sun was nearly set, and a few eager stars were already twinkling in the distant sky.

Nearby stalls around the bonfire were being cleared away, creating a large space for the upcoming bonfire night.

A few young men ran to the bonfire pile, said a few words through a microphone, and lit the bonfire amidst the fireworks bursting in the sky.

Light and pleasant music began to play as boys and girls gathered around the fire in a large circle and started dancing.

Most were in school uniforms, but a few outsiders joined their ranks.

Emma Hart suddenly felt a bit nervous. After building up her courage, she finally took Damien Sterling’s hand and walked into the dancing circle.

"This is the first time you’ve asked me to dance!" Damien Sterling remarked as they walked.

"What if I can’t dance well?" Emma Hart began to worry.

"No problem, I can lead," Damien Sterling said, taking the lead and guiding Emma Hart with practiced movements.

"You even know how to dance this?" Emma Hart found him astonishing.

"Is that so surprising?" Damien Sterling said proudly.

"Not if it’s you," Emma Hart said with admiration.

Because of Damien Sterling, they were particularly noticeable among all the dancing couples. Many people took out their phones and started recording them.

Donald looked around the crowd out of sheer boredom. Everywhere he turned, there were couples, making him feel out of place. He recalled the words Damien Sterling had said to him earlier that evening, and an image of a girl involuntarily appeared in his mind.

"Alright, let’s give it a shot!" Donald resolved silently. He began searching for the girl and soon spotted her dancing with a refined-looking boy by her side. Coincidentally, the girl he had a crush on was standing right behind Damien Sterling and his group.

He was a step too late.

Suddenly, a boy in front of Emma Hart stumbled and accidentally stepped on her foot, causing her to lose her balance and fall. As a result, the people behind her toppled like dominoes.

Laughter erupted around them.

"Who did that?" shouted a Japanese boy from the dancing crowd, visibly upset and determined to find the person who embarrassed him.

Emma Hart, unable to understand his words, could tell from his angry tone that he was furious, making her shiver.

"Don’t worry," Damien Sterling said calmly.

"It’s her!" a boy in the audience pointed at Emma Hart, shouting in Japanese.

In an instant, all eyes turned to Emma Hart.

The angry boy marched toward them, followed by a seductive girl in a modified, overly revealing school uniform and nightclub makeup, clearly a delinquent. The delinquent girl showed no intention of stopping her boyfriend but followed with a hands-on-hips attitude, eager to watch the unfolding drama.

Sensing trouble, Damien Sterling immediately helped Emma Hart up and placed her behind him.

"What do you want?" Damien Sterling asked, frowning, his gaze icy and intimidating. His expression revealed his foul mood, but the angry boy failed to notice and continued to provoke him.

Within seconds, the boy swung his fist at Damien Sterling, while the delinquent girl watched, anticipating her boyfriend’s triumph. But before the boy could react, Damien Sterling caught his punch and launched a relentless counterattack.

Donald quickly ran over, shielding Emma Hart. "Don’t look, just close your eyes," he said, covering her eyes with his hand.

Though Donald didn’t interact much with his brother, he had heard about Damien Sterling’s notorious past. Knowing how dangerous Damien could be in a fight, he wasn’t surprised by the boy’s bloody mouth and nose. However, Damien showed no sign of stopping, prompting the delinquent girl to scream, while bystanders began dialing the police.

"That’s enough, brother! Stop, or it will get worse!" Donald urged.

Fortunately, Damien Sterling hadn’t lost his senses entirely. Hearing Donald’s plea, he ceased his actions.

The boy who had provoked them was now on his knees, begging for mercy, while his girlfriend had fled the scene. Police and ambulances arrived promptly, taking those involved in the fight to the station for further investigation.

The police station was in complete chaos. The boy who had provoked the incident was constantly accusing Damien Sterling of assault and demanding strict action from the police. However, things didn’t go as he wished. Damien Sterling made a single phone call, said a few words, and within minutes, the officer questioning the rebellious boy received a call. His expression darkened instantly, and he looked at Damien Sterling and Emma Hart with fear.

The officer hesitated for a moment, then suddenly turned and harshly scolded the rebellious boy. After feeling satisfied with his outburst, he respectfully approached Damien Sterling, shook his hand, and escorted them out of the police station.

"Bro, did you give them some kind of drug?" Donald was puzzled by the sudden change in the officer’s attitude.

"Stay here and study hard. I’ll tell you someday," Damien Sterling replied calmly.

A luxurious car pulled up at the station entrance, and their familiar Japanese driver stepped out. He respectfully greeted Damien Sterling and Emma Hart and then opened the door for them.

"It’s getting late. We should head back to the hotel and rest. We have an early flight tomorrow. Donald, let us take you home," Damien Sterling said.

Donald stood silently, like a wooden statue. He was reluctant to part with his cousin and his cousin’s wife, feeling the warmth of family for the first time.

Emma Hart, seeing through his thoughts, reached out her cool hand and pinched Donald’s cheek.

Drool almost fell from Donald’s mouth as she pulled at his face. "Stop it, what are you doing?" he mumbled.

Emma Hart smiled maternally at the boy, who was about the same age as Max but lived a completely different life, devoid of love and care. This made her particularly sad.

"You don’t want us to leave, right? Don’t worry, we’ll come to visit you often," Emma Hart said.

"Really?" Donald asked, feeling a warmth rise in his heart.

"Of course, right?" Emma Hart said, looking back at Damien Sterling.

He nodded silently.

Donald lived in a small rental near his school, not far from the police station. They arrived in about ten minutes.

"I’m going now, thank you both," Donald said, not looking at Damien Sterling and Emma Hart as he spoke. He just lowered his head, opened the car door, and stepped out.

"Wait a minute!" Damien Sterling grabbed Donald, who had just stepped out of the car.

It was as if he had pulled Donald’s heart, which was about to step into a cold apartment, back into warmth.

Tears glistened in Donald’s eyes.

Damien Sterling smiled, "You’re a big boy now, no need to cry. We’ll be waiting for you in Country H."

With that, Damien Sterling closed the car door, and the car merged into the darkness ahead.

Inside the car, Emma Hart had already fallen asleep, leaning tiredly on Damien Sterling’s shoulder. The day’s commotion had left them both exhausted.

At the hotel, the staff had already packed their luggage.

Damien Sterling carried Emma Hart to the bed, letting her toss and turn, and then he turned and walked into the bathroom. One thing he had to admit was that since meeting Emma Hart, his obsessive-compulsive cleanliness had mostly been cured.

The next morning, before dawn, they hurried to the airport. With an 8 AM flight, they arrived at the airport just after 6 AM to prepare. In the waiting area, Damien Sterling received a video call from Donald.

"Hey, you guys are already at the airport! I was planning to see you off at the hotel," Donald said, with the hotel entrance visible behind him.

"Sorry, we left early," Damien Sterling said. In truth, he hadn’t planned on telling Donald because he didn’t consider it important.

"No problem, at least we can still chat now," Donald replied, raising his phone. Around him stood his classmates in the same school uniforms, enthusiastically waving.

"And who are these?" Damien Sterling asked, puzzled.

"You don’t remember? These are my classmates. We decided to come and see you off this morning but were a bit late," Donald said, shrugging.

"Thank you all. Next time we come, we’ll have a proper get-together," Damien Sterling said.

"By the way, where’s my sister-in-law? Everyone wants to say thanks," Donald said with a smile.

Holding the phone, Damien Sterling gently shook Emma Hart awake. "What are you doing?" Emma Hart grumbled, not understanding the situation.

"Wake up, it’s Donald on video," Damien Sterling said.

As soon as he spoke, Emma Hart quickly opened her eyes and fixed her hair. The students on the other end were thrilled to see their benefactors and shouted "Thank you" in unison.

Emma Hart was flattered. Unable to speak Japanese, she smiled and greeted the students.

As they were chatting happily, a call interrupted the video chat, ending it abruptly. It was Logan Harrington, asking Damien Sterling to bring back a special perfume from Paris.

After a brief and perfunctory conversation with Logan, Damien Sterling noticed Emma Hart was missing. He quickly turned around and saw her holding a cup of instant noodles, standing by the water dispenser with a long queue behind her.

"How does this work?" Emma Hart was puzzled by the symbols on the water dispenser.

The man behind her, growing impatient, initially wanted to shout but softened when he saw how pretty she was. Smiling, he walked up and helped her with the hot water, pressing a button to release the boiling water.

Emma Hart was thrilled and quickly thanked the man in her broken Japanese.

The man, thinking she was a fellow countrywoman, responded excitedly in Japanese and even touched her delicate hand.

Sensitive to men’s advances, Emma Hart immediately sensed something was wrong. After leaving the water dispenser, she realized the man hadn’t returned to the dispenser but was following her, speaking a string of Japanese she didn’t understand.

Emma Hart sent a pleading look towards Damien Sterling, sitting not far away.

However, Damien Sterling merely watched her indifferently. Thinking it was time to teach her a lesson for not listening and wandering off, he didn’t intervene.
