Chapter 395: Descending from the Sky

Chapter 395: Descending from the Sky

After the host’s opening speech, everyone curiously moved towards the stage.

"Now, let’s give a warm welcome to the newlyweds as they take the stage again!" the host exclaimed passionately.

As the music and applause filled the air, Emma Hart, holding onto Damien Sterling’s arm, emerged from the lounge and stepped onto the stage. After a few pleasantries, Damien Sterling snapped his fingers.

Several staff members dressed both him and Emma Hart in protective gear.

"What is this?" Emma Hart asked, still unaware of what was happening.

Damien Sterling kissed her cheek and whispered, "Don’t worry, it’s all fine. Trust me."

"Everyone, please step back! Move away from the hatch!" the host instructed.

Soon, the hatch closest to the stage opened, and Damien Sterling led Emma Hart to its edge.

Emma Hart was trembling all over. He couldn’t be planning to jump, could he? This was over the ocean!

"Come on," Damien Sterling urged.

"Wait! You’re not thinking of—" Emma Hart’s voice quivered with fear.

"Yes, we are. It’s time to leave," Damien Sterling said, holding her close. "Don’t worry, I’ve got you."

With that, amid the screams of the crowd, Damien Sterling jumped, holding Emma Hart tightly. She let out a blood-curdling scream, shouting his name at the top of her lungs.

The plane’s large screen broadcasted their entire skydiving experience live, leaving everyone in awe.

"What courage! I bet I know what the headlines in A City will be tomorrow," Amelia Davidson remarked.

Guests around her nodded in agreement.

"The hatch is now closed. We will be heading back to A City shortly. Thank you all for joining us, and please enjoy the rest of the journey," the host concluded as a group of beautiful dancers took the stage, performing a lively jazz dance.

The energetic music and lighting electrified the atmosphere.

Meanwhile, in mid-air, the parachute had already deployed. Emma Hart and Damien Sterling clung to each other tightly. Emma’s mind was a blank slate; the thrill was overwhelming.

Damien Sterling, on the other hand, appeared completely at ease, having done this before.

"Wow! Mommy, look! There’s something falling from the sky!" a child playing by the seaside pointed at Damien Sterling and Emma Hart descending.

As they neared the water, they both landed on a huge inflatable mattress on the sea.

A white yacht was docked nearby.

The people on the yacht were already waiting to welcome the skyward couple.

"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling!" Assistant Lee’s voice rang out.

Emma Hart climbed out of Damien Sterling’s embrace and saw Assistant Lee smiling warmly at them.

"Assistant Lee? It’s you!" Emma Hart exclaimed, surprised. She had thought he would be at Sterling Group handling work for Damien today.

Damien Sterling also stood up slowly, helping Emma Hart onto the yacht.

"Mr. Sterling, lunch is ready. Would you prefer to dine inside or outside?" Assistant Lee asked.

Damien Sterling had planned to eat outside, enjoying the sea breeze, but Emma Hart, still shaken from the jump, preferred to stay indoors. Considering her feelings, he decided they would eat inside.

Inside the yacht’s cabin, the table was adorned with an array of exquisite and aromatic dishes, while a musician played the violin nearby.

Emma Hart and Damien Sterling changed into matching casual outfits. Emma, with a light jacket draped over her shoulders, downed a glass of lemon water in one gulp to calm her frazzled nerves.

"Feeling better? I meant to surprise you, but I might have overdone it," Damien Sterling said tenderly, holding Emma close.

"It was thrilling, but I can handle it!" Emma Hart’s eyes suddenly sparkled.

This was her first time skydiving, and she had been overwhelmed, almost breaking into tears as they jumped. However, Damien’s presence gradually eased her fear.

"What are you thinking about? You look so happy," Damien asked as he ate, noticing Emma daydreaming with a fork and knife in hand.

"I was thinking how amazing you are," Emma admitted shyly, unable to fully articulate her thoughts, feeling too embarrassed.

Damien chuckled at her bashful response and urged her to continue eating.

"Why the rush? Do we have plans?" Emma asked, noticing Damien’s unusually fast eating pace.

"Abroad," Damien replied nonchalantly.

"Really?" Emma was taken aback.

With someone so passionate, who could calmly finish their meal? Damien had initially planned to keep their plans a secret, but seeing Emma’s excitement, he couldn’t help but reveal part of it.

"Japan and Paris! Are you serious?" Emma, filled with enthusiasm for the trip, ran to the yacht’s edge, jumping with joy.

"Alright, alright, come back and eat!" Damien, unable to watch any longer, called out like a concerned parent.

Feeling a bit sheepish, Emma returned to the table. The thought of soon flying to Paris kept her too excited to eat much.

"I can’t eat another bite! Let’s go! Besides, there’s food at the airport, I can get snacks if I’m hungry," Emma pleaded as Damien approached with more food.

This sudden change in Damien’s demeanor confused Emma—was he going through an early mid-life crisis?

Damien’s expression darkened, his gaze becoming as piercing as an eagle’s, sending chills down Emma’s spine.

Swallowing her fear, Emma carefully took the fork with a large piece of meat, saying, "Alright, I’ll eat it. Don’t be mad."

She took a big bite, then waved the empty fork in front of Damien before grabbing a plate of fruit salad and finishing it.

Only then did Damien’s expression lighten up.

After a brief rest post-meal, the yacht docked. A Porsche awaited them on the shore.

"Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling, congratulations on your marriage! I’m Thomas, your driver to the airport," the polite driver greeted them.

"Mr. Sterling, these are your and Mrs. Sterling’s important documents, including your phone and wallet," Assistant Lee said, handing Damien a black leather pouch.

Damien took the pouch, carefully checked its contents, and, confirming everything was in order, bid farewell to Assistant Lee before getting into the car with Emma Hart.

Assistant Lee respectfully watched as the couple drove away.
