Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 36: Cash Cow

Chapter 36: Cash Cow

The moment Emma Hart’s hand touched the doorknob, her spirits sank.

She had no desire to be near that man.

With a creak, the door opened.

The room was empty, save for the sound of running water in the bathroom.

Mist fogged the glass, the man’s robust silhouette faintly visible.

His perfect physique seemed like that of a fitness model, a gift of nature – not only had he been blessed with a flawless face but also a body with such ideal lines.

The water stopped, and the mist on the glass began to slide down, gradually revealing more clarity.

Damnable man!

Emma’s gaze dropped instantly.

His upper body was already exposed in the reflection, and what was to follow...

How could he have no sense of decency?

"Seen it all before, haven’t you? Pass me the towel," Damien Sterling’s voice was casual, as if he was used to commanding her.

Treating her like a maid?

"I’ll call someone to bring it," she replied.

"It’s right there on the table. Are you blind?" His impatience was growing.

"But..."

Emma hesitated. As a woman, even though they had a past, she couldn’t bring herself to be so forthright in her dealings with him.

"Hurry up!" Damien’s tone was tense, indicating he was losing his patience.

Closing the door, Emma slowly walked to the table and picked up the towel.

She glanced at the bathroom, frowned, and reluctantly moved closer.

Turning sideways, she stretched her arm inside, pushing the towel through the opening.

Despite his impressive physique, she had no wish to tarnish her own eyes.

The moment Damien’s cold fingers brushed the back of her hand, Emma, startled, dropped the towel and turned to flee.

But Damien spun around swiftly, wrapping the white towel around his waist and, in one fluid motion, caught Emma, who had barely taken a few steps away.

"What are you doing?" Emma Hart whispered like a startled bunny.

Damien Sterling, with an aura that could freeze any atmosphere, his voice deep and magnetic yet chilling, said, "Didn’t you see the water on the floor? Who’s to blame if my child gets hurt?"

He scooped Emma Hart up in his arms and strode towards the bed.

A wave of warmth surged from beneath as she lay close against Damien Sterling’s chest, too frightened to move.

After setting Emma down, Damien remained motionless.

Emma steadied her breath and tentatively asked, "Could I... have my phone back?"

"Why do you need your phone?" Damien inquired, still cautious.

"I need to check on my family. My grandmother is old and unwell, my mother is managing the household alone, and my brother is about to start college."

Emma’s voice faded, unsure if her family was as worried about her as she was about them.

Seeing Damien silent, Emma continued softly, "You have all the control anyway; I wouldn’t dare run off."

After a moment’s thought, Damien’s eyes flickered slightly, "Understood."

"You agree?" Emma was surprised.

"Mhm."

"Aren’t you sleeping?" Emma felt uneasy with Damien standing in the room.

"I’ll just check a few emails and then sleep."

"I won’t disturb you, I’ll go sleep in another room."

"You’re not allowed to leave," Damien commanded coldly.

Emma, who had started to get out of bed, lay back down and turned away.

She had tried her best to speak calmly and evenly with this man.
