Overbearing CEO's Contract Love -
Chapter 301: Unease
Chapter 301: Unease
Sterling Group, a multinational corporation with a global presence, saw the news of Emma Hart giving birth to twins spread worldwide within a day, topping the news charts everywhere.
Upon hearing the good news, Mr. Sterling Senior rushed to the hospital immediately.
"Emma, you truly are a blessing to the Sterling family! Wonderful! Wonderful child!" Mr. Sterling Senior’s joy surpassed that of securing a billion-dollar deal. For the elderly, there is no greater happiness than seeing the family line continue during their lifetime.
"Thank you, Grandpa. Look at them," Emma Hart pointed to the nursery where the twin brothers lay quietly, sucking their thumbs. It was remarkable how even their thumb-sucking was perfectly synchronized.
"Have you decided on their names?" Mr. Sterling Senior asked.
"Not yet, we were waiting for you to discuss it together," Damien Sterling replied.
"Well, I’m at a loss too. Your name was chosen by your aunt back in the day. Brianna, do you have any good ideas?" Mr. Sterling Senior turned to Brianna Baker.
After a moment’s thought, Brianna said, "How about Gabriel and Joshua? It symbolizes harmony and happiness."
"What do you think?" Mr. Sterling Senior turned back to Damien and Emma.
Damien and Emma both nodded in agreement.
"Great! We’ll register them later! Gabriel and Joshua! Grandpa will head out now. You two be good boys!" Mr. Sterling Senior looked lovingly through the glass at the twins before reluctantly leaving the hospital.
"Take care, Grandpa!"
"Take care, Grandpa!"
Everyone respectfully bid Mr. Sterling Senior farewell.
Over the next few days, many close associates of Sterling Group wanted to visit Emma Hart, but Damien Sterling kept them all at bay, preferring not to have Emma interact too much with these complex individuals. Only Brianna Baker, Amelia Davidson, and Mrs. Harris visited her regularly.
As for Emma Hart’s mother and grandmother, they only came once or twice.
Although Emma Hart was thin, fortunately she recovered quickly and was full of energy again within a few days. The two babies are also following their mother, and their situation is getting better day by day.
In the hospital room, Emma Hart was chatting with Mrs. Harris and Brianna Baker. A knock on the door interrupted their conversation.
"Come in!" Brianna responded.
The visitor was none other than Ella Moore, Emma’s health manager.
"Mrs. Sterling, congratulations on your new arrivals. Here’s a little something for you," Ella said, presenting a basket of fresh fruit, which Mrs. Harris accepted with gratitude.
Despite being strict during training, Ella Moore was a kind woman outside of it.
"I’m here not just to congratulate you but also to help Mrs. Harris take care of Miss Emma," Ella added. She then peeled an apple and handed it to Emma.
"Thank you, Ella," Emma said with a smile, accepting the apple.
The four women continued their lively conversation. Brianna Baker, feeling under the weather, didn’t stay long and asked Ryan Garcia to take her home.
After Brianna left, Emma’s mood darkened. She suddenly thought of Damien Sterling. Even though he had only been gone for an hour, she felt a profound emptiness in her heart.
"Mrs. Harris, Ella, could you please leave? I’d like to rest for a while," Emma said abruptly, not wanting to talk anymore.
Sensing something amiss in Emma’s demeanor, Mrs. Harris and Ella reluctantly left her alone, waiting in the living area.
Meanwhile, Damien Sterling was at the office, buried in paperwork. He had accumulated a mountain of tasks from the previous day.
His long-legged secretary frequently came in to deliver documents and coffee. She noticed Damien’s exceptional diligence today, working with even more vigor than usual. She mused to herself, "Fatherhood really suits him. He’s more driven than ever. So charming!" She couldn’t help but swoon over him secretly.
In reality, Damien was working hard to finish early so he could rush to the hospital to be with Emma and the babies.
Back in the hospital room, Emma was breastfeeding her twins. Their tiny faces reflected immense satisfaction.
Mrs. Harris was on her way back with lunch, while Ella helped Emma hold one of the babies. Identical twins were always tricky to tell apart.
"Ah! Why did you suddenly come in?" Emma exclaimed as she saw the man enter unexpectedly.
"Why shouldn’t I come in?" Damien Sterling replied, flashing a mischievous grin at Emma.
"Please step out," Damien Sterling said as he took the baby from Ella Moore’s arms.
"Yes, Mr. Sterling," Ella replied respectfully, nodding before leaving the room.
"You pervert," Emma Hart teased Damien.
"As if there’s any part of you I haven’t seen," Damien retorted with a wicked grin.
"You... oh, never mind. I won’t argue with you in front of the children," Emma laughed, her heart filled with sweetness.
After over a week in the hospital, both Emma and the babies had recovered well enough to go home. As the day of the twins’ one-month celebration approached, Mr. Sterling Senior began planning a grand party, inviting all the prominent business figures associated with Sterling Group to celebrate his precious grandsons.
When Damien received the notification, he had no objections. He saw the potential benefits but was still reluctant to expose the babies to the public so soon.
At the Sterling mansion, Damien informed Emma about the celebration.
"Oh, that sounds nice," Emma responded with little enthusiasm.
"What’s wrong?" Damien asked, sensing something off about Emma’s demeanor.
"Nothing. I’m full, and I need to feed Gabriel and Joshua. Enjoy your meal," Emma said as she headed upstairs.
Just then, Damien’s assistant called with urgent business matters. Lately, Sterling Group had been unusually hectic.
"Sir, there’s an urgent issue at the company," the assistant said.
"I’ll be there soon," Damien replied, putting down his utensils and instructing Mrs. Harris and Ella Moore to keep a close eye on Emma before rushing back to the office.
Emma entered the nursery and watched her two babies sleep soundly.
Why do these little ones look so much like their father and not at all like me? she mused. She gently poked Joshua’s soft cheek, inhaling the faint scent of milk. She wondered if Damien had looked the same as a newborn.
As the babies slept peacefully, Emma found herself bored. She pulled out her phone and scrolled through social media, stumbling upon Harper Clark’s street photos, brimming with youth and vitality. Not long ago, she had been the same...
A wave of melancholy washed over Emma. How much longer can I stay in this home?
