Overbearing CEO's Contract Love -
Chapter 300: The Premature Birth
Chapter 300: The Premature Birth
The maid downstairs quickly brought the doctor to the room. The doctor and nurse hurriedly placed Emma Hart onto the stretcher and transferred her to the ambulance. Damien Sterling felt a mix of excitement and worry; he was thrilled to become a father but deeply concerned about Emma’s health.
Fortunately, the Sterling family’s mansion was close to the hospital, and with clear roads, they arrived in about ten minutes. On the way, Emma kept muttering, "Damien Sterling! This isn’t over between us!" This made Damien feel both amused and exasperated.
As soon as they arrived, Emma was immediately taken into the delivery room, leaving Damien to wait outside. Not long after, Ryan Garcia and Brianna Baker also arrived at the hospital. Ryan had originally planned to call Damien to check on them but was shocked to hear the big news. Brianna happened to be with him, so they rushed over together.
"Ryan, Aunt Brianna," Damien greeted them.
"Damien, how’s Emma?" Brianna asked.
"She just went in," Damien replied. Brianna nodded and didn’t say more. Ryan refrained from asking about their return home, understanding that nothing mattered more than the current situation.
After about an hour, the sound of continuous baby cries came from the delivery room, and Emma was wheeled out. "Congratulations, Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling and the twin are all healthy!" the doctor announced while pushing Emma’s bed out.
"Emma!" Damien rushed forward to check on her, only to find she had fallen asleep. Gently caressing her face, he whispered, "You did great, darling," and kissed her forehead softly. Emma had no idea how tender Damien was in that moment.
The babies, a pair of healthy but very small twin boys, were taken to the neonatal unit for extra care due to being premature.
"Congratulations, brother! You’re finally a dad!" Ryan Garcia congratulated Damien with a fist bump.
"You are already an uncle, and you are not serious yet," Damien joked, patting Ryan’s shoulder with a smile.
"Damien, your grandfather can now be at ease," Brianna said. She knew that if the babies had been girls, Mr. Sterling Senior would have been very displeased and might have even threatened to strip Damien of his CEO position.
"Thank you, Aunt Brianna," Damien nodded appreciatively at her.
Emma Hart was admitted to the best private room in the hospital. Besides the standard private bathroom, it had a living area, television, carpet, soft music, and a comfortable sofa. Exhausted and hungry from giving birth without having dinner, Emma fell asleep immediately after delivery, and the doctor administered glucose to her.
Damien Sterling finally felt a weight lifted off his shoulders. He didn’t inform Mr. Sterling Senior right away but instead stayed by Emma’s side all night. Watching her frail figure, he was filled with admiration. How could such a delicate woman bring two healthy lives into the world? For the first time, he deeply appreciated the greatness of maternal love.
Ryan Garcia and Brianna Baker also stayed at the hospital. They crashed on the sofa in the living area outside the room, worried that Damien might need help if something happened. They slept soundly, especially Ryan, who even started snoring. If Ryan weren’t his brother from childhood, Damien might have kicked him out of the room.
The next day, Emma woke up to find herself in the hospital. She instinctively touched her belly, now flat, and her eyes widened in panic before she quickly sat up. "My belly!" she exclaimed, waking everyone in the room.
Damien, half-asleep beside her bed, lifted his head and smiled. "You’re awake?"
"I... gave birth?" Emma asked in disbelief.
"Congratulations, you’re a mom!" Damien said, his voice filled with joy.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" Emma excitedly grabbed Damien’s wrist.
"Boys!" Damien replied, then kissed her forehead again. "You did great."
"Emma."
"Sis."
Brianna Baker and Ryan Garcia walked in from the living area to congratulate Emma, assuring her that the babies were healthy and she needn’t worry.
"I want to see the babies!" Emma insisted.
"You’re still very weak. I asked Mrs. Harris to make some chicken soup. Eat that first, then you can go," Damien said gently.
"No way! I’m fine," Emma pouted.
Damien sighed deeply. "Ah! I can never win with you, can I?"
Damien Sterling scooped Emma Hart up in a bridal carry, saying, "Come on, I’ll take you to see them!" Emma wrapped her arms around his neck, her face radiating happiness.
The nurse, who was just about to check on Emma, was stunned by this sight. As she moved to stop them, Ryan Garcia intercepted her with a charming smile, "Miss, we’re just going to see the babies, we’ll be right back." His grin made it hard for the nurse to refuse, so she sighed and followed them.
"Look! Those two right there," Damien said, pointing through the glass at the two tiny infants closest to them.
"They’re so tiny," Emma murmured, her heart aching.
"Well, their mom kept refusing to eat during the pregnancy," Damien teased.
"I think it’s because their dad was too intimidating, scaring them out of their appetites! Haha!" Emma retorted with a laugh.
"Emma Hart, you—" Damien started.
"What about me? Haha!" Emma giggled.
Ryan Garcia and Brianna Baker stood behind them, watching the couple’s playful banter.
"They’re really something, aren’t they?" Brianna remarked softly.
"Mom, I sense a hidden message in your words," Ryan replied.
"I’d be content if you settled down too!" Brianna shot back.
"Don’t worry about it, Mom. I... I’m close," Ryan said evasively.
"With whom?" Brianna pressed.
"That girl..." Ryan began, only to be cut off by Brianna’s sharp kick.
"Don’t tease your mom!" she scolded.
Suddenly, Brianna remembered something crucial. "We should tell Mr. Sterling Senior about this!"
She walked over to Damien and Emma. "Damien, shouldn’t we let your grandfather know? This news will make him so happy."
Damien realized she was right. Informing Mr. Sterling Senior about his new twin grandsons would not only delight him but also strengthen Damien’s position in Sterling Group.
"Aunt, you’re right. Ryan, call Mr. Sterling Senior for me!" Damien instructed before turning back to Emma, continuing their lighthearted exchange.
Watching this, Ryan couldn’t help but think that fatherhood might just soften Damien. "Man, he’s already turning into a doting dad!"
